What a terrible commercial, was this made for MBAfrica or something? I love Mercedes-Benz and most of their commercials are fantastic. But this was just in poor taste and pretentious. So out of character for such a fine brand.

This commercial is very well succeeded.I find it is not in the style of a classical mercedes commercial,but the Music, the persons and the light of the pictures co-operate marvelously. I love this spot.

While undoubtedly Merc quality has suffered between late 90s and around 2005 (they admit it themselves), they are making huge efforts to come back on top...the new E-Class, for example, is I believe the most tested car in the world (36 million km or so)...

dude, the c class is compared with 3 series BMW and A4 Audi, those are smaller more sporty vehicles for ppl who like small and more sporty cars. Mercedes uses the C-class in DTM like they did with the 190 in the 80s. S-class are not sporty, thats why BMW produce no M7 series, make no sense. The baby merc is the A-class and there is also a B-class.

Ever wonder why they don't show us "colored" folks driving anything higher than the C-class in these commercials. And to add 2 the insult, they play "hip-hop" (crappy hip-hop, too) in the background? Not sure bout you guys, but all the blks I saw driving c-classes were in High School and college. Everybody else drives the SUVs, E-class and S-classes.

I am aware of this, methinks the real impetus behind the luxury Japanese brands for the US was to sneak past import restrictions, eg you take a Honda, top it out with the options, give it a leather interior, change around the emblems and voila, you got an Acura and boom! You can sell twice as many cars to round-eye.
