to you and all the other noobs, he is riding on a race/semi-race board which is directional (which is why you think it looks old), probably 170cm or larger, and it has an extremely large turning radius, he wearing hard boots, and a forward turned stance.

if you tried this on your symmetrical short radius board (which is 99% of what is sold today) you will do a 8 foot diameter U-turn and end up 180 degrees.

these board/boot/bindings are less forgiving than soft boots/bindings but power transfer from leg to boot to board is seamless. just start in wide open trails the first time till you get the feel then God save the women and the children because they are designed to go fast

he isn't snowboarding. even thought its very similar. there are special boards for this. your feet are both angled forward and the board is in between a snowboard and a ski. not saying it isn't hard, but it takes about as much skill as to carve on a regular snowboard.

I use oversized wrist guards that i put on the outside of my gloves. Not only does it protect you from breaking your wrists but your gloves from the snow as well. I would go through i pair of gloves a year before starting this

didnt mean to ruffle any feathers. what i should have said was i live in jackson hole, wyoming and because of all the snow we get "carving" is sort of a bad word around here. there are a lot of guys this good in u.s. you just don't get to see them HERE very often. i have been carving since i bought a F2 Beamer back in 1990. this 500 letter limit is ridiculous.

they carve really nice and steady, but you can only do this on a fresh slope with the right angle, once it's bumpy you're rips are toast like that, and once you're going into the flat, you can't keep the speed
