I wouldn't try to learn vibrato by watching this video. The demonstrator is not a very good violinist. She was slightly out of tune at some parts, her vibrato is actually too "tight," her bowing/vibrato coordination is unstable, etc. She left out the key message of the basic mechanic behind a good vibrato, finger joint flexibility. The vibrato exercise she showed was a good one, but she demonstrated it too quickly for beginners to realize the point of that exercise. There are better vids on YT~~

Its also really really hard for me to do i can like just do it kinda without anything but when i put my bow on my bow shakes and my hand will totally stop and then my bow will bounce so it sounds squeaky and werid! ://

I recommend using a shoulder rest because it can help you carry the violin and learn vibrato quicker.

This is really hard for me. I taught myself how to play guitar and when playing vibrato on it, its easy. But it seems that my hand likes to lock up when playing violin and I end up shaking the whole violin instead, it sounds terrible! but I really enjoy playing over all! perhaps I don't know the correct way to hold it yet...

@MrOwlkapwn This is relatively hard for me, too. It might be that we're not holding correctly, but I feel as if it would be a lot easier on other string instruments for some reason. And i can do the motion by itself, but I get confused when I add the bow to the mix.
