  • Now THIS is art.

  • the video is kinda boring and lame, but the song is gorgeous

  • Yo SOY esta canción

  • Yo SOY esta canción

  • 3 people have never heard it at Cafe Lena.

  • Wonder what János said about this? I'm quite sure he'd love it :)

    Best wishes from Hungary

  • I can haz a hanky?

  • FRANK!

  • I reeeally love this song!

  • Not a dream: a perfect spring night. A magic night. 15, homeless, wandering alone. The clubs are closed, the city asleep. And I find my people, or they find me. We have music and many colors inside us. We lie on the cemetery grass and watch: stars fall, sprinklers rise. And we run. Through the water, through the streets, to the hill where we watch the sun rise over the city. As we scatter in the light, I think: I will never again meet people as beautiful as these. I am so happy that I was wrong.

  • @mickycisme Oh my god this is beautiful. Is this from something or did you just write it? In reply to your other comment and the question about the tunnel... well let's just say that we spent a lot of time in that tunnel so it's no surprise the ghosts came out to play.

And we haven't really posted any 'making of' information (Steven is a very busy man) but when the video first launched Steven wrote an awesome bit for Amanda's blog which pretty much outlined the whole process. Hope that helps :)

  • @slara6 That is a real memory of an important night in my life, one of the many memories and emotions that came pouring out as I watched this video over and over and realized that it could have been my friends and I on the screen, if someone had a camera that captured spirit as well as light. When I got done crying I wrote down everything I could remember about that night, then YT's comment-length restrictions forced me to strip it down to the bare essence. That's more fitting anyway, I think.

  • @slara6 Thanks for replying. I read the post on AFP's blog, saw some cool pics and a little explanation, but I guess the big questions are going to have to remain unanswered. That's just the way magic works, sometimes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making such an awesome video. From AFP's chance meeting with Tristan to the album to THIS, the whole thing has been such a joy to see and hear and feel. I hope it was a joy for you as well, and that we will see more awesome work from you.

  • @mickycisme Wow. I'm so happy that this video had an effect on you and prompted you to relive those memories and write that beautiful poem. Thankyou so much for your kind words! Hopefully I am lucky enough to be able to keep creating work like this in the future. It was honestly too much fun...

  • THERE IS NO OFFICIAL VIDEO TO JANOS VS WONDERLAND

  • Comment removed

  • @audiotutu What do you mean....?

  • @slara6 Tristan's music is free to anyone wishing to use it. There will never be any "official" visual to his music.

  • @audiotutu I'm not sure how 'official' is defined anymore in a time of such heavy copyright mayhem and corruption but Amanda Palmer asked us to create a video for their beautiful song and this was the result. And that's as official as anyone is claiming it to be.

  • @slara6: In the tunnel scene, around 3:45-3:50, did you have to photoshop out (or whatever the film equivalent is) someone entering the far end of the tunnel? There is a sort of ghost that crosses the stairs and moves toward the lower right corner of the shot.

Also, the guy in the bunny suit looks a little (just a little) like Tristan and the girl in the tunnel resembles Amanda in her 'living statue' days. Was that intentional?

Have you and/or Steven posted 'making of' info anywhere?

    Thanks.

  • @slara6 I think what audiotutu meant is that Tristan did not personally condone the making of the video to his music. but that's beside the point anyway

  • breathtaking. It's left me absolutely speechless. This is what you can honestly call art. AFP was right about you ;)

  • i don't get it...

  • Tristan is so talented, more of you should search his other videos on here, his music is beautiful!

  • Where exactly was this filmed?

  • @lesruesdanslanuit I believe it was shot in Brisbane, Australia.

  • @muselove1000 Thanks!!

  • This is the most beautiful dream I never had.

  • Oh wow, you made a video for Tristen's song! awesome.

  • Absolutely stunning, congratz!

  • This song was in one of my dreams last night. The first couple of minutes looped over and over throughout it.

  • i think i love this.

  • @VTRAddict how can you know what kind of lives the kids in this video have lived? you can't. there are dozens of ways you can interpret their behaviour, their facial expressions. perhaps they're drugged. mad. or happy in SPITE of pain. i, myself, have had an extremely difficult, traumatic and painful life - but that would never keep me from dressing up in weird clothes, splashing paint on my face and running around screaming with laughter. joy isn't an emotion innocence alone is entitled to.

  • was this filmed in australia??

  • @shararari Yepp :)

  • This is incredible.

  • there's a freaky shadow in the background of the white subway corridor, where they meet the plastercast-girl

  • this is beautiful. I can't wait to have the cd in my hands!

  • Bizarre in an unannoying way

  • well the title is "János vs Wonderland"... so the white rabbit is a reference to Alice in wonderland.

I dont know if it is a little far-fetched but I think the guy in the costume shall symbolise John the Baptist..

because János is the hungarian Name for John. And an other hint is that they are swimming in the last scene so it might be like..

"follow the white rabbit and get baptized so you'll get part of the wonderland clan"

    ,,,? ^^'

but in the tag stands jános szász.. i'm finisched .__.'

  • sweet

  • i've watched this six times in a row and i don't believe i'll stop for a while.

  • The haunting melancholy of the piano is an almost chilling counterpoint to the innocence and naivety of the kids in the clip.

    Absolutely stunning and inspiring...

  • @VTRAddict I don't see innocence or naivety at all. Just life. Strange.

  • @duskremmerfisken We all see different things based on our own perspectives and experiences. I've seen a lot more of life and a lot more pain and loss than the kids in this video. I guess I long for the time when I was that young and still hadn't seen so much of the badness this world has to inflict on us all...

  • guy in the bunny costume cute

  • Now I feel depressed.. But I can't stop hearing this song.. Awesome. Nothing less from Amanda Palmer..

  • so lovely. such a perfect duet

  • Thumbs if Neil sent you here~

  • 5:36 is the best moment ever... So beautiful. Also 4:00

  • This is hauntingly beautiful.

  • Honestly, How is Steven not famous? He is AMAZING

  • God that was beautiful.

  • I like this so hard. Ahhhhhhh!

  • Cheers for a wonderful masterpiece like this one!<3

  • It's a masterpiece. Please take a few minutes to enjoy this video @unwoman @emilieautumn

  • Amanda Palmer (or whoever that is on piano) is great. What i would give to play like that. This video is absolutely stunning!! I can personally say that i wish i knew Amanda on a personal level and get to meet her. She is utterly, amazing wonderful. <3

  • @asdfgMUSICasdf that's Tristan Allen & Amanda Palmer (four-handed piano)

  • i want to go with them, WAIT!!

  • This is gorgeous. It's amazing the way Tristan stumbled into this wonderful opportunity and this video has the same sort of limitles,s hopeful, youthful feeling I get when I think about how that happened.

  • Naww, beautiful.

And fantastic that Tristan's first vid was shot in Australia!

  • Anyone else realise that the bunny head is left in the tunnel and then its back on the guys head as part of the costume later on?

  • @Aoifxxx Totally did. I'm going to call it magic.

  • Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

  • bravo.

  • totally weird and hauntingly beautiful. great job.

  • Its Fabulus, im interested in all the different landmarks they filmed this video in, because after this, i see those places in such a different way, the music just is fantabulus and the photography just is beautiful

  • gorgeous

  • Well that was interesting. I don't think I've seen a music video for a song like this before.

  • beautiful

  • I dont get it...

  • @ohioasp draw your own meaning then :)

  • @KiiRbYGiiRl94 I can do that

  • Quite a night, I must say.

  • Wonderful... Love it XD

The song is perfect... everything is awesome... great job :)

  • This is truly gorgeous. Beautiful visuals and an amazing piece of music. Amanda makes the world keep turning :)

  • Wow. Just wow. Beautiful stuff.

  • Perfectly awesome.

  • Each time I play it, I can listen to this song no fewer than 7 times in row. No, no OCD here - I just think it's that beautiful. Makes me cry every time, in that happy/sad good way.

** If you haven't, go buy Tristan's album via music [dot] amandapalmer [dot] net [slash] album [slash] tristan-allen **

  • Was the guy in the rabbit costume Tristan?

  • @PrawnSticks nope. tristan is from saratoga springs, NY. the video was filmed entirely in australia.

  • The rabbit boy and broken skin girl were both really pretty.

    Amazing song too.

This video though was just strange. I didn't get it... which isn't always bad but it wasn't really evocative either. the last video for this was better in my opinion.

  • @derebin well, if you look at it, all the people at the start are coloured, whereas the other girl is painted white, and then the last shot is of her and the boy dressed in the rabbit suit kissing.

  • Beautiful. So many perfect images like the balloons in the headlights and running across the bridge. Wonderful faces and fine performances. Ah youth!

  • Wonderful.

  • Going to go but the album now...

  • Oddly beautiful. And really strange. Wow.

    Truly wonderful pianist.

  • i love the part where you guys are running down the street.

  • I don't know what to say, it was just breathtaking...

  • I'm sick right now, but I think the beauty of this made me feel a bit better. Thanks.

  • I haven't been this excited about a song in a long time!

  • why does this remind me of Donny Darko?

  • @MikoSubaru Ha! I was thinking the exact same thing.

  • @MikoSubaru The bunny costume. I had the same thought.

  • @MikoSubaru The bunny lol

  • Beautiful as always.
