3Rivers is awesome and love the traditional bows and equipment ya'll offer, but i think these animals should at least be respected (gotta show footage of the hunters eating their hearts! The traditional way! lolol jk ). Don't mind seeing some killshots, but to offer a critique; a lot of quick cuts of them with the rock music and the cliche bland marketing voice doesn't help lol... Surely there's a more creative and less aggressive way to do it... Keep up the great work at the website and shop!
It is hard to have hunting without impact. The Outdoor Channel allows bow hunting shows on their network that shows impact footage. We need to stop trying to make everything warm and fuzzy. I hope we never see the day they sensor hunting shows to appease the masses. Soon you will see the archer shoot the arrow then the screen fades away and the next shot is everyone high fiving at the bunk house. Yeah, what a great hunt that was.
@bigmusic39: actually you CAN tune a longbow by adjusting the brace height and nocking point. But that's only half of it: the arrows need to match the bow too (just like with a compound) by being the right spine, length, and point weight. One other thing: arrows shot from traditional bows (i.e. non-center shot bows) go thru a phenomenon called the "Archers Paradox" which makes it look like the arrow is flying crooked. Just type in a search for archers paradox her on YouTube and you can find
even during the shows the outdoorchannel wount show the impact of any shot more then once some rule they came up with to keep all the vegetarian let all animals over populate and die off tree hugging fools! its sad that people who think that us hunters who feed our familys by what we kill and donate to the less fortunate think were in the wrong ! wish they would realy do the math we hunters help this land but get criticized for it! you dont like it then dont watch it!!!!!
It's funny to me how we can't talk about Jesus it might scare someone or hunt ?????get real ppl grow up his life saved ours ! Fight for your brother not with your brother
The outdoor channel is not the hunting channel. Obviously anyone watching a hunting show is a hunter and will have no problem with impact shots. But what if this commercial is aired during a fishing show (or other non hunting shows)? Now your showing kill shots to potential non hunters/kids and there is a chance (very slim chance) that it could offend the non hunters out there. And in a world of ridiculous lawsuits it's better to play it safe. (I'm a hunter and have no problem with kill shots)
Banning reality, sucks this is why the outdoor channel and hunting channels in general are on there way out, vids on youtube are way better and no commercials

Ive seen this commercial on the outdoor channel and recently too. so dont know about the band it's supposed to have like the title said. but did any one notice on the last shot, how untuned the arrow was how it flopped around in a circle as it few towards the javelina. lol love to c pros useing bad form and haveing bad shots in front of the camera for thousands to c. im no pro but I wouldnt show mistakes like that on camera. bad shots happen but to have an untuned bow just plan lazy.
@bigmusic39 The commercial you see here on Youtube is the commercial as it was originally intended to air. The Outdoor Channel rejected it because it had impact shots. The commercial you saw on the Outdoor Channel was an edited version that censored the impact shots. As for the arrow, Dale took this shot during 40 to 50 mile an hour winds. Any arrow will react that way under those conditions. Regardless, the arrow hit its mark and the javelina is now mounted in Dale's office.
@3RiversArchery 40 or 50 mph winds? lol the vegetation isnt moving..besides that didnt look like wind drift it looked like his fletching had contact with his shelf on release
@littlebigman243 If you go to the trailer for the Javelina DVD from which that footage was taken you can clearly see vegetation moving before and after the shot. The reason you don't see the vegetation moving during the shot is because it is in slow motion. Youtube doesn't allow links in posts, but if you search for "3Rivers Javelina" it's the first video that shows up.
@3RiversArchery its the exact same clip, and im sure the wind was blowing a little, but even in slow motion you should see the vegetation moving. im sure there was some wind, just not 40 or 50 mph. but i've gotta stay with my diagnosis looks like fletching made contact with the shelf. or the string twisted off his fingers on release. you never know tho his rest could have messed up or the arrow might not have been perfectly straight. lots of stuff can happen in the field.
@bigmusic39 that's the difference between you and a pro, you hide your goofs and pretend to be better than you are, professionals deal with it and know its part of the game.

Skip the resulting animal stumble, fall or bellow, don't display the death struggle. I love to hunt with bow and rifle, but even I have been a bit put off by some vids showing the death following the shot.
Seems a bit voyeuristic. Respect the animal, don't post the death, that should be a private moment. It robs the dignity from the animal.
How much money do traditional archers spend compared to their compound using friends? Especially if they make their own tackle? A traditional bow costs only a few hundred bucks, and lasts for decades. The hunting business fears the rise of traditional archery because it's almost a cost free way to enjoy archery, and it's much more fun!
To be honest I don't watch hunting or fishing shows. I want to be out there DOING it myself. I live in the outdoors so who needs TV. Plus I think that these pro hunters are very much like any other sports figure Overpaid, and it won't be too long before their heads get a bit bigger too.
the outdoor channel gets money from sponsorships and selling air time like every other television station. these big time stars like jordan and waddell work on ratings like every other actor. i'm sure the biggest contributors call the shots and they want you to watch their show to see the impacts. it's all about ratings, air time and corporate fat cats trying to sell some high tech mumbo jumbo that has nothing to do with killing a deer. it has really gotten rediculous.
the outdoor channel allows an impact shot but don't allow a replay of the impact unless their is something special about the impact, i have seen only three replays and i watch just about every hunting show on the channel.
Banning impact shots in hunting commercials is like banning home run replays in baseball commercials!! Just plain stupid is what it is!! I don't get the Outdoor Channel as I don't have satellite TV but I really don't think they have an agenda against traditional bowhunters. I don't bowhunt but love to watch it when ever I can and in whatever style there is. Long bow, recurve, compound or cross - all are exciting and challenging!! Restore this commercial is my response!!
"Banning impact shots in hunting commercials is like banning home run replays in baseball commercials!!" I couldn't think of a better analogy than this, well said. All I can say is, damn hippies are now influencing areas I never thought they could.
Horses are naturally skittish around people....why? Because we are naturally predators, like it or not. Notice how our eyes are close together for better depth perception, just like wild cats and all other predators.
"The culture I stand for is sometimes lost into todays society, when in fact society was built on the culture of THE HUNTER. A hunter is more than a predator, a hunter is a providera caretakera leader. I will never make excuses for who I am.."
Now where have I heard that?
Oh yeah I remember... on The "Bone Collector", a show produced by the outdoor channel. I hope what you say in the description isn't the reason they don't show impact shots, but it probably is.
they need to ban the rich putzes who banned this commercial you know the ones who drive around in their golf carts to hunt giving their advice on how to hunt. I am sick of those polished shows. 3 rivers is awesome!
I watch the outdoor channel 24/7 and think I see? other commercials with impact shots, I think? But am not toatally sure on that, I watch more close next time. thanks
I personally think this is more than likely the effect of Animal Rights. The "Oh noes! Poor animals being hurt on television! Don't show it to our children! Turn it to war or something else without animals being hurt, or exploited or something!" Before long, they're going to have hunting banned from television, meat banned from farms, and animals banned as pets. Of course, everyone is 'well it's not me' until it is and then it's too late.
I didn't see why this vid should be banned. I love bowhunting as well. There was nothing distasteful about it. I shoot my compound alot and love it, but I plan on making a flat bow out of orange osage and hunting with it. Ahh a bow just like the native americans used!
I think I might have seen a Burt Coyote Lumenok commercial on the Outdoor Channel with a bunch of impact shots but I watch both both Outdoor Channel and Sportsmen Channel so I'm not sure exactly what one I saw it on.
And we have the obligation to hunt any animal who's predators have been so reduced in population as to not control over-population of the prey animal. It is inhumane to allow starvation due to over-population.
Does this mean they should also not show the moment of a fish taking bait on a line when a hook sets in an underwater video of angling?
It is the same kind of thing.
I could be wrong, but it sounds like the Outdoor Channel caved into some pressure of activists that would rather just see there channel taken off cable and satellite altogether.
The Outdoor Channel should be careful whom they try to please. It could be there demise.
maybe they figure if they dont show impact shots that people wont realize an arrow cuts flesh to the point of killing the animal. the impact is a short easy to stomach part of hunting. pretty soon they wont show the animal after a kill if there is blood visable.
I like target shooting with the bow, but when it comes to killing, I prefer the rifle, as I believe death for an innocent creature, should be as quick and painless as possible.
Maxdesander: Thank you for the comment. While we agree that the animal should suffer as little as possible, a good, clean shot with an arrow is going to be as quick and painless as a good, clean shot with a rifle. By the same token, a bad shot with either weapon is going to have the same negative results.
We do appreciate and understand your position, however.
Actually, I've seen more bad shots & wounded deer during rifle season than archery. And I hunt both, so I'm not bashing anyone here. But you are more apt to take a less than perfect shot with a gun such as a running shot, or head on, or too far away. Where as MOST archers wait for that perfect quartering away-broadside shot. So in my experience, I would say that a skilled archery hunter is going to put a better shot on that animal than 75% of the gun hunters out there. Just my 2 cents....
well most archers can get more practice than gunners because while they havge to go to a shooting range, archers can practice just about anywhere...even their own backyards
if you think about it when you make a good shot on a deer it will only go 50 yards well a deer can travel that distance very fast so it doesent take long for the deer to die
Many times times they don't even feel a thing, or even know they're dying. sharp broadheads make the difference. I've seen film of deer feeding, being shot through the lungs, look up, THEN CONTINUE FEEDING TILL THEY DROP. Let's see a rifle hunter do it more humanely than that! I hope to perform this feat one day. I've only killed one, it was with a heart shot at last light. He did the "donkey Kick", ran across a logging road, looked back and fell over. all in about 4 seconds covering 50 feet.
@Maxdesander arrow has better penetration than abullet any day of the week....bow and arrow is the quickest way to the vitals where as arifle blast will reach but its more shock than actual damage to the vitals....
To sit down and watch a hunting clip and expecting NOT to see impact shots is PURE HIPOCRICY (is that spelled right?). Hunting is about preparation, tracking, killing and producing food and raw material. You cannot have one without the other. If you have a problem with seeing animals killed - DON'T WATCH!
The outdoor channel has not "banned impact shots"...I think every single show last night had atleast 1 impact shot. Spirit of the Wild had like 4 or 5.
Actually, the Outdoor Channel has banned impact shots on their commercials. The shows themselves still have impacts. We'll clarify things in the description for the video. Sorry for the confusion.
who the hell just decides to not show impact shots. thats some serious B*&^ S%$^ i mean, like said below. if they dont wanna watch it then turn the god dang channel...not cut it out, for us hunters who actually enjoy watchin that kinda stuff...this world is goin soft and its a sad thing to see...
You have GOT to be kidding, they don't allow impact shots anymore? I haven't seen them for a long time. That sux. I guess they'll be going the way of the dodo, and we'll be just buying DVD's of our favorites.
ya the same people that don't want to watch this will rent some horrific war movie or Friday the 13th. Give me a break. I personally will never video a hunt that I do but that is me. Last time I checked this was United States of America and we do have the freedom of speech. IF you don't like it don't watch it.
I dont get why some people on these shows downplay the killing aspect of hunting. Like when they get to an animal and its clearly been cleaned up with no blood in its nose or mouth and the entry/exit wound is clean. Killing isnt pretty and shouldnt be shown to the general public as such. Don't want to see it? Don't tune in!
I see no problem with hunting, or impact shots. If you wanted to watch a person hunt an animal you would expect to see them shoot and kill it. They give warnings about impact shots before the show. Besides if you cant take seeing an animal be shot then you havent been in the world very long. You usually see more violence in the news
Hunting is not an American tradition, it's a world tradition. Anywhere hunting or fishing does not exist, people don't exist. The people that complain should not go to these sites. They knew where they were going when they logged on to hunting sites. It's their optionto watch. We have to ingnore rude comments and keep our powder dry and our arrows flying true.
this should be banned. you must respect the fact that some people do not want to see animals harmed, even if the same moment they are eating a burger. its their right that they do not want to SEE this. i do not say if it is okay or not to hunt, i just want to say that people have the right of do not want to SEE these actions.
you have every right not to see anything you don't want to see. Just pick up the damn remote and CHANGE THE CHANNEL. What you have absolutely NO right to do is stop ME from watching something I like which is perfectly legal and no more immoral than ordering a Big Mac.
Takilicio -- if viewers did not want to see impacts, they would not be watching the channel in the first place. These type of commercials are shown during shows that show impacts in the shows themselves. They are, after all, hunting shows.
Reason y this was probably bannes is because itsa "taboo" to hurt nature in any way shape or form. dam geenies. Oh im all for protecting our enviorment but some people are over zealous about such things.
nice ad nice company. i for one do not care how many times they show the impact or kill shot. thats how many of learn. most of the people watching are hunters or outdoorspeople and should not be offended those that are need not watch its really that easy. beware of the antis. thanks for this vid and your ot hers. Ron
It was banned because the Outdoor Channel has a policy of not showing impact shots in commercials. An edited version currently runs which blocks out the impacts using effects.
i think its a respect thing. Even on the shows, they only show the impact once. During replays they show everything leading up to the shot, but not the shot iteself
According to OC policy, no commercials may contain kill shots. Other outdoor networks (MAN, Pursuit, Sportsman, etc) allow it, but not Outdoor Channel.
what the heck do you think we did before there was a fasfood place at every corner? the tree huggers banning these commercials really makes me mad. Is hunting and animal and showing it on tv really that bad? its got to be a heck of a lot better than hitting a cow on the head with a hammer. its not like this commercial showed the animals suffering. it may not be the best thing for kids to see, but maybe they need to see how this country came together by actually hunting for the meat they consume.
What you have seen is our edited commercial, with the impact shots obscured by lighting effects and logos. If you have seen the unedited version on the Outdoor Channel, it was probably from a year or two ago before they forced us to edit it.
Outdoor channel should not be banning impact shots, thats like SPEEDTv banning showing a win at a NASCAR race. If outdoor channel wants to ban impact shots then they need to just change their name and show reruns of Oprah. Get Pursuit TV its much better anyway, its 95% hunting shows and 80% of that is bowhunting
great video there is nothing wrong showing a impact shot it shows that a well placed shot with the proper equipment and pratice will harvest any big game animal.
People today are so whiney. How can they show people getting shot on the news or dead bodies from wartime on the history channel, but you watch a channel about killing things(Hey,think about it,it's true) and they ban it.The world makes no sense.
my goodness. I would rather have a young one sit and watch people hunt (the right way) then the murders and rapes and thug rappers on TV! These were all VERY well-placed shots and if you are offended by impact shots, turn on the Disney channel! (That kudu really jumped! What a close shot!!)
PETA=people eat tast animals if u didnt wanna c a arrow hit a deer or animal why watch the outdoor channel then? its either hunting fishing and occasionaly r/c shows and fourwheeling
Anyone who would be offended by an impact shot needs to find a different TV channel, lol! You can watch all sorts of heinous crap on cable but you can't watch an arrow impact a deer?
unfortunately impact shots are "offensive" to people. I for one believe that if you are watching a hunting program, impact shots should be expected. Impact shots are my favorite part of the program because you get to see where they hit the animal and how it reacts to the hit.
i completely agree. i like being able to compare my skill level to that of the pro's plus we get to see how well the products that they were using worked
Most Broadcast television contracts with networks have rules against showing impact shots on commercials. However, most outdoor and hunting show networks do allow impact shots during the show, with restrictions such as showing it one time, in real time no slow motion impacts, and no repeats of impact.
I go to local video store and see dozens of slasher/blood and guts movies for the kids and no hunting videos because they may harm jr's sensabilaties.Get real!!
I just got myself a Kingfisher recurve bow to learn, Im wondering whats to stop that moose from taking off with your arrow? Doesnt it take more than 1 shot to kill with a bigger animal like that?
no, it should only take one shot for anything if u hit it in the right spot...i don't care for guiding outfitter crap, but i saw a guy on tv kill a hippo with the bow only using one shot...was interesting and stupid all at the same time
They should always show impact shots....always. 99% of the reason for watching hunting on tv is the see "where did he hit" Otherwise there would never be a bad shot by a hunters own admission
great commercial.how 'bout allowing this commercial which depicts a healthy, honest activity and ban all the violent tripe shown to our youth 24-7 on prime time tv.
show it all i mean if the commercial is planning on motivating people to be hunters the hunters are going to have to experience the impact shot and the removal, and the gutting, and the cleaning. to me thats just bull
3Rivers is awesome and love the traditional bows and equipment ya'll offer, but i think these animals should at least be respected (gotta show footage of the hunters eating their hearts! Horses are naturally skittish around people....why? Because we are naturally predators, like it or not. Notice how our eyes are close together for better depth perception, just like wild cats and all other predators.
ondfritz2 1 year ago
"The culture I stand for is sometimes lost into todays society, when in fact society was built on the culture of THE HUNTER. A hunter is more than a predator, a hunter is a providera caretakera leader. I will never make excuses for who I am.."
Now where have I heard that?
Oh yeah I remember... on The "Bone Collector", a show produced by the outdoor channel. I hope what you say in the description isn't the reason they don't show impact shots, but it probably is.
bjs030 1 year ago
they need to ban the rich putzes who banned this commercial you know the ones who drive around in their golf carts to hunt giving their advice on how to hunt. I am sick of those polished shows. 3 rivers is awesome!

Ban on impact shots? Well that explains why the rage broadhead commercials have the black Censored bar covering the animals.

I watch the outdoor channel 24/7 and think I see? other commercials with impact shots, I think? But am not toatally sure on that, I watch more close next time. thanks

Here is what I don't understand.
Do shows on the outdoor channel contain impact shots?
Yes.
Then why not the commercials?
norseman7088 2 years ago 3
I personally think this is more than likely the effect of Animal Rights. The "Oh noes! Poor animals being hurt on television! Don't show it to our children! Turn it to war or something else without animals being hurt, or exploited or something!" Before long, they're going to have hunting banned from television, meat banned from farms, and animals banned as pets. Of course, everyone is 'well it's not me' until it is and then it's too late.
DrPepperandOreos 2 years ago 11
As far as i'm concerned animals have one 1 right and that's to taste good ;)
joeyviolent 2 years ago
I didn't see why this vid should be banned. I love bowhunting as well. There was nothing distasteful about it. I shoot my compound alot and love it, but I plan on making a flat bow out of orange osage and hunting with it. Ahh a bow just like the native americans used!
rabbitracer69 2 years ago
I think I might have seen a Burt Coyote Lumenok commercial on the Outdoor Channel with a bunch of impact shots but I watch both both Outdoor Channel and Sportsmen Channel so I'm not sure exactly what one I saw it on.

so it's okey to show a rocket hitting a target or a A10 shredding up some ppl but no can't show poor animals getting hurt lol

prey do not suffer any less at the hands of a lion.
rozuell 2 years ago
And we have the obligation to hunt any animal who's predators have been so reduced in population as to not control over-population of the prey animal. It is inhumane to allow starvation due to over-population.
asherael 2 years ago
Does this mean they should also not show the moment of a fish taking bait on a line when a hook sets in an underwater video of angling?
It is the same kind of thing.
I could be wrong, but it sounds like the Outdoor Channel caved into some pressure of activists that would rather just see there channel taken off cable and satellite altogether.
The Outdoor Channel should be careful whom they try to please. It could be there demise.
Bannerstone1 2 years ago 2
maybe they figure if they dont show impact shots that people wont realize an arrow cuts flesh to the point of killing the animal. the impact is a short easy to stomach part of hunting. pretty soon they wont show the animal after a kill if there is blood visable.
dhuebs 2 years ago
I like target shooting with the bow, but when it comes to killing, I prefer the rifle, as I believe death for an innocent creature, should be as quick and painless as possible.
Maxdesander 2 years ago
Maxdesander: Thank you for the comment. While we agree that the animal should suffer as little as possible, a good, clean shot with an arrow is going to be as quick and painless as a good, clean shot with a rifle. By the same token, a bad shot with either weapon is going to have the same negative results.
We do appreciate and understand your position, however.
3RiversArchery 2 years ago
Actually, I've seen more bad shots & wounded deer during rifle season than archery. And I hunt both, so I'm not bashing anyone here. But you are more apt to take a less than perfect shot with a gun such as a running shot, or head on, or too far away. Where as MOST archers wait for that perfect quartering away-broadside shot. So in my experience, I would say that a skilled archery hunter is going to put a better shot on that animal than 75% of the gun hunters out there. Just my 2 cents....
MrFixedBlade 2 years ago 3
well most archers can get more practice than gunners because while they havge to go to a shooting range, archers can practice just about anywhere...even their own backyards
vicblue01 2 years ago
if you think about it when you make a good shot on a deer it will only go 50 yards well a deer can travel that distance very fast so it doesent take long for the deer to die
boxingguy12345 2 years ago
Many times times they don't even feel a thing, or even know they're dying. sharp broadheads make the difference. I've seen film of deer feeding, being shot through the lungs, look up, THEN CONTINUE FEEDING TILL THEY DROP. Let's see a rifle hunter do it more humanely than that! I hope to perform this feat one day. I've only killed one, it was with a heart shot at last light. He did the "donkey Kick", ran across a logging road, looked back and fell over. all in about 4 seconds covering 50 feet.

To sit down and watch a hunting clip and expecting NOT to see impact shots is PURE HIPOCRICY (is that spelled right?). Hunting is about preparation, tracking, killing and producing food and raw material. You cannot have one without the other. If you have a problem with seeing animals killed - DON'T WATCH!
susannekingpepsi 2 years ago
How screwed up can we get here, almost every show you turn on regular tv is about sex but god forbid don't show people hunting.

The outdoor channel has not "banned impact shots"...I think every single show last night had atleast 1 impact shot. Spirit of the Wild had like 4 or 5.
pseaxis 2 years ago
Actually, the Outdoor Channel has banned impact shots on their commercials. The shows themselves still have impacts. We'll clarify things in the description for the video. Sorry for the confusion.
3RiversArchery 2 years ago
who the hell just decides to not show impact shots. thats some serious B*&^ S%$^ i mean, like said below. if they dont wanna watch it then turn the god dang channel...not cut it out, for us hunters who actually enjoy watchin that kinda stuff...this world is goin soft and its a sad thing to see...

You have GOT to be kidding, they don't allow impact shots anymore? I haven't seen them for a long time. That sux. I guess they'll be going the way of the dodo, and we'll be just buying DVD's of our favorites.
terriergal 2 years ago
ya the same people that don't want to watch this will rent some horrific war movie or Friday the 13th. Give me a break. I personally will never video a hunt that I do but that is me. Last time I checked this was United States of America and we do have the freedom of speech. IF you don't like it don't watch it.
sisusuomi 2 years ago
I dont get why some people on these shows downplay the killing aspect of hunting. Like when they get to an animal and its clearly been cleaned up with no blood in its nose or mouth and the entry/exit wound is clean. Killing isnt pretty and shouldnt be shown to the general public as such. Don't want to see it? Don't tune in!
carpslaughter 2 years ago 2
I see no problem with hunting, or impact shots. If you wanted to watch a person hunt an animal you would expect to see them shoot and kill it. They give warnings about impact shots before the show. Besides if you cant take seeing an animal be shot then you havent been in the world very long. You usually see more violence in the news
suckithardnfast 2 years ago

Takilicio 3 years ago
you have every right not to see anything you don't want to see. Just pick up the damn remote and CHANGE THE CHANNEL. What you have absolutely NO right to do is stop ME from watching something I like which is perfectly legal and no more immoral than ordering a Big Mac.
BFDdriver 3 years ago 15
Hunting is possibly even more moral!
At least what you kill in the wild has lived in the wild, and not been bred in a cage for the past few years.
xxxIRossHi 2 years ago
Takilicio -- if viewers did not want to see impacts, they would not be watching the channel in the first place. These type of commercials are shown during shows that show impacts in the shows themselves. They are, after all, hunting shows.

what the heck do you think we did before there was a fasfood place at every corner? the tree huggers banning these commercials really makes me mad.
Nugburner420 3 years ago 2
ive seen it on the outdoor channel it is not banned.
znistler1271 3 years ago 2
What you have seen is our edited commercial, with the impact shots obscured by lighting effects and logos. If you have seen the unedited version on the Outdoor Channel, it was probably from a year or two ago before they forced us to edit it.

Outdoor channel should not be banning impact shots, thats like SPEEDTv banning showing a win at a NASCAR race. If outdoor channel wants to ban impact shots then they need to just change their name and show reruns of Oprah. Get Pursuit TV its much better anyway, its 95% hunting shows and 80% of that is bowhunting

bowhunt1223 3 years ago 3
unfortunately impact shots are "offensive" to people. I for one believe that if you are watching a hunting program, impact shots should be expected. Impact shots are my favorite part of the program because you get to see where they hit the animal and how it reacts to the hit.

Most Broadcast television contracts with networks have rules against showing impact shots on commercials. However, most outdoor and hunting show networks do allow impact shots during the show, with restrictions such as showing it one time, in real time no slow motion impacts, and no repeats of impact.
