soooo how is this even ocd much less ocpd??? this video left me nothing but confused and a little bit disturbed...did anybody else catch the other guy reaching over the cooks food with out saying 'scuse me? RUDE!
Oh believe me I WOULD shoot myself if I had a gun. Too bad not every country allows people to carry guns and go trigger happy on anyone as long as they're on your private property, like the US.
My roomate has OCPD. She must be in control of whatever the situation is. She is a perfectionist, yet never can actually carry out her best laid plans. She can perform mundane work related tasks for hours on end, usually all night long. She will only eat certain brands of certain foods. She refuses to drink water, will not shower (baths only), forbids certain brands of toothpaste, toilet paper etc. I am researching as much on the topic as I can get my hands on. Lest, I no it has a name.
They do seem to have missed the boat on the distinction between OCD (which involves rituals like handwashing) and OCPD (which does not). And only about 15% of OCPD people also have OCD on top of the OCPD.
2:51: OCPD would not let that yoke drip on the side of a bowl, how inaccurate!
Well, I'm just kidding. But I think the annoyance is a little bit exaggerated, usually someone with OCPD would prefer to stay in control of their emotions and would have replied to the person who came in in a much more logical and robotic manner. Instead of throwing the cookies, they're more likely to just put them straight into the compost, and wouldn't necessarily start again like someone with OCD.
OCPD people can be messy and often are - they like to categorize and hoard are very rigid and not easy to get along with -an ocd'er in more concerned with rituals and repetition
I don't have to repeat daily rituals, but sometimes I get locked into things and I get unwanted thoughts. The only reason I am over coming it is because of symbolism, where I use a thought within my head to comethe unwanted thoughts. Though they still come, me focusing on the objects puts me at ease knowing that as long as I have that thought in mind, the other ones cannot hurt me and aren't as real as the one I am using. My thoughts are religious.
I am not sure but i think i might have OCD, i somehow have to touch everything twice or do everything in an even way and if i not i think about it strong and when i do it it feels like my body shoots through me with adrynaline. is this ocd?
If this was truly OCPD, he would NEVER let that burn. NEVER! 2nd aval, he would clean the ENTIRE workspace, dishesand all during baking time and again, before EATING the cookies. As people say OCPD sufferres do not enjoy life as much and here is a perfect example. He would rather spot clean the place before eating. Others would just leave a mess but enjoy the cookies right off the ovem immediately. Unfortunately, I clean the entire kitchen first before serving dinner. That ain't cool.
I don't understand OCPD. I am OCD and Borderline PD. How do the two fit together? The only thing I relate to in this video is the fact that he wouldn't allow the kid to get into the chips for fear of not having enough for the cookies. But I wouldn't get bent out of shape if I burned them. Maybe because my OCD would not allow them to burn in the first place? I almost sit and watch them bake.. literally. LOL Like I did with my Easy Bake Oven when I was little, I watch through the window. ; )
I have the same two illnesses. I didn't even know what BPD was until I checked out the symptoms. I believe those two are linked. I think it's something that happens at a young age. Sometimes it's the environment.
I'm doing my best to solve these issues myself because I don't want to see a "doctor".
If I was OCPD I would have put the margarine back in the fridge immediately, and wouldn't stand egg dripping on the side of a bowl (or my fingers for that matter). Also it would not have burnt thanks to obsessive watching, and if it did, I would have washed the tray before attempting to bake another batch! This vid was not made by a person with OCPD. I know, my dad had it bad! Ok there are different types, but if he washed his hands, why not the tray?? :)
This is NOT OCPD. What a disservice to people! Someone should take this off Youtube. People need to know what OCPD truly is... NOT be given misinformation.
All of you that say this is not a good example of ocpd and is instead ocd are WRONG! Ocpd is obsessive, compulsive and perfectionistic. This vid is a good example of it.
@crawhip7 It's about feeling one is in control, which is why the ocpd person MUST do things a certain way. If anything messes up the flow or order of things the person may become anxious. At the end you can see he became very frustrated when things didn't turn out the way he planned them , and then he started over and would likely do the same until the cookies came out right. The anxiety would then be relieved.
Some may argue that this individual lacks self-confidence in his own abilities, his behaviour is somehow linked with self-loathing or resentment in some way. Some people have an over abundance of confidence in themselves that they are not shy about revealing their own errors or faults in what can be described as trivial matters.
@crawhip2 The difference is the ocpd perfectionism is brought about by the need to control, the ocd perfectionism is brought about by irrational thoughts.
All of you that say this is not a good example of ocpd and is instead ocd are WRONG! Ocpd is obsessive, compulsive and perfectionistic. This vid is a good example of it.

Ocpd is solder syndrome. I am not a neat freak atleast not since i was about 15. I hate neat freaks as they get in the way of productivity. I won't bake cookies as thats a waste of time. I'm learning German, because I think French people are a bunch of lazy liberals, I won't learn japanese because there culture is racist, and russians are too poor. As you can see it owns all.
Not entirely true, OCPD can very well make you disfunctional, depending on the severity of the condition. Where as OCD may be mild and not destroy peoples lives.
In my case, my OCPD was more disabling than my OCD, however, the OCD is still there whilst the OCPD is mostly overcome. I guess though that every case is different from the next, who's to say what's worst?
Not a good example. You do have to be precise when cooking from a recipe's given measurements. See the video entitled "OCPD" by Kevin Ryan for a better example.
OCPD is more like workaholic type people. This video shows OCD symptoms, not OCPD symptoms. Again, OCPD is like the perfectionist movie director stereotype or corporate executive that is impossible to live with.
Really off! if you had OCPD you wouldn't likely do these things; touch the cabinet door use a towel then put it back. you would either throw it away or wash it. push a button directly after washing your hands. re dip the knife in the butter. Showing more that you enjoy what you're doing and dont see it as a problem etc.
I dont know about you guys but i have ocd and ocpd and his over was gross and also i would never toss those cookies everywhere because i would spend the next 6 hours making sure i got all the crumbs out the crevices of my stove. also i agree he should have washed the pan
he has ocpd according to the title and neither problems cause anger they mostly cause rituals such as needing to look for the keys four times after leaving the house. if you run over a bag than you have to drive back to the bag pull over and check to make sure no one left a puppy or anything in it and you might check twice to make sure you really did check the first time. ocpd is an obsession with cleanliness like all your cds must be in alphabetical order or you cant sleep at night. etc etc...
nope, you dont know the difference between ocd and ocpd.OCPD is your personality and may just manifest as being a perfectionist and not make you dysfunctional.OCD on the other hand completely destroys lives in many cases.
I noticed that too. his oven was nasty! He did it all wrong. his whole kitchen was nasty for trying to depict OCPD. I couldn't believe he through the cookies on the stove and touched the cabinet door after washing his hands to get a rag... with his clean hands. I'm not OCPD but I've been learning about it in my college class and his video was really off.
es una enfermedad mui triste.. solo las que la padecen saben lo feo q es.. yo lo padesco.. repito mucho las cosass.. ii qiero q todo este perfecto! :(
@hollybee43 : you are absolutely wrong, I live with one, so dont tell me otherwise, anddont go spreading misinformation that can hurt people who are out to gather info to cope with stress
OCPD is when a persons personality is obsessive compulsive
while OCD is when people are obsessive compulsive about washing thier hands for example.
another diffrence is OCD is ego "dystonic" meaning that the disorder is incompatible with the sufferer's self-concept.
while OCPD is ego "syntonic" displayed by the individual's acceptance that the characteristics displayed as a result of this disorder are compatible with his/her self-image.
The only part that got it right is when he gets MAD that the cookies didn't turn out perfect. And he was a little more than averagely snippy at his roommate for taking the chocolate chips.
Of course, I don't let my kids snitch chocolate chips, and I'd be upset if I let the cookies burn, too. And I'm far from OCPD.
My OCPD husband wouldn't make cookies at all because it's too messy. And there's way too much "stuff" on the counters for him to go into that kitchen. It would drive him nuts.
I'm with you on this. Also, I highly doubt an OCPD person would have started the second batch of cookies without first having washed the burnt crumbs off of the tin first. lol
FUCK that was boring. I watched the first 3 minutes before I figured "oh, nothing's gonna happen. they have nothing to say about OCD. They're fucking amateur film student jerk-wads". Nice job, fuckheads
FUCK boring. I scrolled to the end, he burns the cookies and then tries to make more. WRONGLY titled, another reminder YouTube has loads of b.s. videos
anyone who's 'detail oriented' is somewhat obsessive-compulsive, but not to the medical standard of the term, of course. the other extreme is to just be apathetic and not care much about anything. we live in these little prisons-or utopias, all inside a few pounds of brain tissue.
OCD almost always causes the person who has it grief while people with OCPD can sometimes derive enjoyment from their compulsions, but also have a dual personality; on the outside they act one way, but internally they strongly disagree with their own actions.
Hi! Just to answer your question: OCD normally entails a fear if you do not do things in the sequence or as many times as you need to do; people with OCPD do not fear what will happen if they don't do it, but still feel incredibly anxious and compelled to do things. People with OCPD (like myself) are obsessed by schedules and order, whereas people with OCD I think are obsessive about other things.
This is not either OCD or OCPD (These two things are different),he is more like a very specific and particular type of person. Most of the clinical diagnosed OCD sufferers have repetitive behaviors (compulsions)which led by the repetitive thoughts that well..make sense but not completely realistic. They may stop a lot to think, or to repeat the actions, like sitting up and down on a chair, turning the lights on and off. I have an OCD, and I know exactly what it is like.
@jugglefan4 Fgt's who comb their hair in the bathroom for 20 mins everyday are straight up FGT'S. It's not really a hard concept. You can tell this is faggit shit from a distance.
Yeah. I'm not going to explain them all, but OCD is focused on rituals and obsessions, where OCPD is focused on perfectionism and "it has to be this way, or else" style thinking.
Last Saturday I was dining with my friends and they started complaining about what they call my "quirks": they described me as a cold, algid, rigid, braniac, hypocrite, Stalinist perfectionist and with a "Bree Hodge's work attitude". So I checked on Google and found about OCPD. I'm quite scared but I don't want to change my life. What can I do?
Don't change? If you don't think it's getting in the way of anything, then there is no issue, if your only problem is that you are afraid of how others perceive you, that wasn't a problem before they pointed anything out, so why should it be a problem now?
In short, don't worry so much about what others think, people with quirks are the reason we have computers, the wheel, astronauts, electricity, beautiful music etc etc.
You know? Maybe you're right. Probably I was worried by the possibility that my behaviour could annoy or irritate them... but now I think they should THANK a friend that bakes biscuits and cakes, cleans his own home everyday and brings good old movies when we meet. Maybe I could make an ironic video about my quirks, who know...
The classic OCPD person thinks there is nothing wrong with them when in fact there is a whole lot wrong, only everybody else sees it, not the person. You can vow to stay the same if you think it's OK that everyone thinks you are "cold, rigid and Stalinistic'. Who wants to be thought of that way? You probably think there are 2 ways to do something--your way and the wrong way. Yuck. If you think it's OK and you don't need to change, you have a problem.
I know somebody who has this condition and you are spot on. People with OCPD cannot see the head from the ass and they only see the world in their narrow minded point of view
I must say out of all the mental illnesses I have been around, people with this condition are unbearable to be around
being OCPD myself i find it funny that we OCPD'ers would be pissed that this is OCD!!! lol

What is the difference between OCPD and OCD?
TashaRichardsonFan 2 years ago

It would drive him nuts.
soozeeszu 2 years ago
I'm with you on this. Also, I highly doubt an OCPD person would have started the second batch of cookies without first having washed the burnt crumbs off of the tin first. lol

FUCK that was boring. I watched the first 3 minutes before I figured "oh, nothing's gonna happen. they have nothing to say about OCD. They're fucking amateur film student jerk-wads". Nice job, fuckheads
sitarguitar1979 2 years ago
well, even if you think there is to less info in this clip, then it's about a different disorder then OCD.

FUCK boring. I scrolled to the end, he burns the cookies and then tries to make more. WRONGLY titled, another reminder YouTube has loads of b.s. videos

i dont think this is ocd or ocpd, just very detailed
Roflcoptinator 2 years ago
This video doesn't really show what OCPD really is.
TearsForLosers 3 years ago
anyone who's 'detail oriented' is somewhat obsessive-compulsive, but not to the medical standard of the term, of course. the other extreme is to just be apathetic and not care much about anything. we live in these little prisons-or utopias, all inside a few pounds of brain tissue.

What's the difference between OCD and OCPD because to me it looks exactly the same!
ILuvOmarionG 3 years ago
OCD almost always causes the person who has it grief while people with OCPD can sometimes derive enjoyment from their compulsions, but also have a dual personality; on the outside they act one way, but internally they strongly disagree with their own actions.

Ok thanx alot =]
ILuvOmarionG 3 years ago
MagicSomething 3 years ago
Oh ok, that makes more sense!!!
Thanx so much

This is not either OCD or OCPD (These two things are different),he is more like a very specific and particular type of person. Most of the clinical diagnosed OCD sufferers have repetitive behaviors (compulsions)which led by the repetitive thoughts that well..make sense but not completely realistic. They may stop a lot to think, or to repeat the actions, like sitting up and down on a chair, turning the lights on and off. I have an OCD, and I know exactly what it is like.

I bet people with OCD make some damn fine cookies.

NONSOV 3 years ago
Don't change? If you don't think it's getting in the way of anything, then there is no issue, if your only problem is that you are afraid of how others perceive you, that wasn't a problem before they pointed anything out, so why should it be a problem now?
In short, don't worry so much about what others think, people with quirks are the reason we have computers, the wheel, astronauts, electricity, beautiful music etc etc.

schr4nz 3 years ago
Thank you very much.
NONSOV 3 years ago
The classic OCPD person thinks there is nothing wrong with them when in fact there is a whole lot wrong, only everybody else sees it, not the person. You can vow to stay the same if you think it's OK that everyone thinks you are "cold, rigid and Stalinistic'. Who wants to be thought of that way? You probably think there are 2 ways to do something--your way and the wrong way. Yuck. If you think it's OK and you don't need to change, you have a problem.

@markmcsw
I know somebody who has this condition and you are spot on. People with OCPD cannot see the head from the ass and they only see the world in their narrow minded point of view
I must say out of all the mental illnesses I have been around, people with this condition are unbearable to be around

How long did it take him to mix all the ingredients? He started at 4.55 and is still at it at 5.50.
RosheruCell 3 years ago
1. Did not fold the towel after you used it.
2. Did not crush the lumps in the sugar.
3. Did not wipe the raw egg of the side of the bowl immediately after it happened.
4. Did not use separate spoons for different ingredients.
5. The oven was completely dirty.
6. You did not dispose of the cookies right you just threw them.
Other than six little problems I really liked your video.
BellaBullets 3 years ago
1. Did not fold towel when putting it back.
2. Did not crush lumps in sugar.
3. Did not wipe the egg off the side of the bowl immediately afterward it was spilt.
4. Did not use separate spoons for different ingredient's.
5. The oven was very dirty.
6. You did not throw the cookies away in the trash.
Those were the only inconsistencies I saw in the video otherwise I liked it.
