Hay Marc ! I think you work very well and i like the fact that you are very perticular and picky about small details , thanx for a great show,Jonathan flink.
please write me what is the price of such extra special, well done hand made product like this. Don't be afraid form any kind of competition. I live on the other end of this planet like you. :-)
Hey! the gadget-station looks just awesome i enjoyed all episodes and i lernd much :) im a woodworker and i d like to do one too, is it possible to get the workplans ore are they secret? what kind of wood did you use?
@schofsgrind Well there's no secret since you just watched me build it over 12 videos. :) But this was one of my personal projects and I didn't develop plans for it. The wood is bubinga, a very dense exotic but absolutely beautiful!
@TheWoodWhisperer i just finished my education and i did not work very often without a plan thas why i ask.. but i take it as a challange to do it without ;) i do not know bubinga but it looks great, i guess its not an european wood....
Your work is awesome...although I'm not an expert I still think it's great. Sharing it at youtube makes it even better. I'm sure that it will inspire people from all over the world. Seeing you at work makes me have even more respect for the woodworkers in the old days. Great series !!
Just finished watching your entire series on this Gadget Station, and was very impressed with the whole process and how you explained it. A lot of attention to detail with regards to the steps involved which is great. The humor thrown in contributes to making your videos that much more enjoyable to watch. Awesome job on the Station, and the end result was amazing! The more i watch you, the more i want to one day own my own shop, and create beautiful furniture pieces. Thanks.
great video's !! your channel is a great source of knowledge and help for woodworkers of all levels of experience.
im building a cabinet myself and if i had to record and edit video on top of that i think i'd crack up !!! so kudos man.
anyways, i have a question. the hinges you use on these doors, what type are they? my doors are recessed also and because i live in a backward country, up to date hinges are a problem. i had to make do with butterfly hinges :(
Thanks for the kind words man. Having that camera in the shop can be tricky at times, but its worth the extra effort. The hings are made by a company called SOSS. Woodcraft and Rockler should carry them. Very heavy duty. Good luck!
Awesome! I love your works and your videos. Maybe because I'm italian and we share the same second name (spagnuolo). I think I'm going to build it, but I'd like to add some maple also on the side panels, just for simmetry and balance (bubinga, maple an ebony everywhere). I'll use mahogany instead of bubinga (less expensive :-)). Keep on cutting and gluing mate!!
If you can, head over to my website and look for Episode 2, King and His Castle. Toward the end, I give a rundown of the tools I recommend for small and large shops.
A cool idea to "enhance" an already perfect gadget station is: if a couple of those PC extractor fans can be placed somewhere maybe to the bottom or to the back, with spaces(vents) between shelves(for circulation) and a thermostat. So basically when things get hot inside.. the fans can come on and cool down the equipment. The gadget station can itself become a gadget :)

I suppose it might depend on your definition of a gadget. I am referring to cameras, mp3 players, small video cameras, and battery chargers for larger items. For those things, it works very well. Even my DSLR fit perfectly.
I never get tired of watching your videos. you truly have an avid Aussie fan here :-) Keep it up, and let me know if your ever wanting to fully fund an Aussie apprentice :-)
There are very few, if any, modern electronics that would be adversely affected by the location and size of the magnets. Most MP3 players are solid state and the whole hard drive/magnet thing is pretty much a myth. Well, at best its a major exaggeration. And I don't expect anyone to store hard drives in there anyway. :)

@rudoatlas I honestly never priced it out. It was made as a gift so I didn't keep track of hours and material cost.

What tools, saws etc do you recommend to get started? Basics, I suppose like a jig-saw, table saw, etc.

That cabinet looks just fine.. I just don't know what gadgets could fit in? Isn't it too shallow?
