@TheExStig thank you for the advice. however, refusing outright to allow any comments when 70-80% are constructive, for the sake of banning the 20% or so idiotic comments, seems illogical to me, especially when i can delete any such comments soon after, as well as blocking the users responsible (a policy which, as i've reiterated, i do utilise). if there's the option to show comments based on my approval, i will consider this should i start visiting the site enough for that to be a fair policy.

Any club that deems it neccessary to remove a dish from the club restraunt because it shares it's name with the current Pope is a joke. As for your signing policy prior to the late 80s, don't try and hide the facts, the few Catholics you had were made to leave the club in the early 20th centuary. Players and other staff were not taken on if Catholic until the 80s and Sir Alex Ferguson left after he suffered discrimination after he married his wife Cathie, who was a Catholic. Celtic managed to sign players such as Danny McGrain from under Rangers' noses, purely because a Rangers scout, who assumed from his name he was Catholic, wouldnt have anything to do with him

@MrBaphomet616 then you may wish to take issue with Gary Armstrong's book "Fear and Loathing in World Football" which references the time in the early 20th century when Rangers asked their Catholic players to leave the club. The same book also cites former club directors defending their "policy" of not KNOWINGLY signing Catholics and indeed discrimination against employees who had married Catholics. Its well documented that between WW1 &1989, Rangers FC didnt deliberately sign Catholic players.

@MrBaphomet616 a court has got nothing to do with it. it was an accepted standard. to quote Jock Stein (a Rangers man) "if there's two identical players in Glasgow, only one's protestant and the other is Catholic, I'll sign Celtic the protestant one, 'cos I know Rangers won't go out and sign the Catholic". They were most certainly not seen to be an all inclusive club. And they never deliberately did anything to dispel such allegations until 1989.

Now why would such a question be asked had it been known it was normal or acceptable for Rangers to do so?

@3232MaThEuS3232 celtic was founded as the irish immigrant community in glasgow - so was effectively a catholic club in origin, but its always been inclusive and accepted those of any faith. rangers was predominantly a protestant club for many generations and a pretty much utilised a policy where they wouldn't sign catholics... up until 1989.

im an aberdeen supporter and Celtic, under martin oneill especially, alway's did scotland proud in europe. Scottish football is in dire straits at the moment and i always have done and always will support the old firm in the champions league, the english have had far more success in europe than they deserve, but no english clubs will have the atmosphere of celtic park on a big european night.
