@skookmachuck Is this a brand new one? Or have you used it before? If you've used it before, it's possible that some of the fog fluid is dried out and clogging the intake tube. What I do after I use mine is to fill the fog fluid reservoir with distilled water and let the fog machine run. That should clean out all of the leftover fog fluid in the tube and the pump.
@trainlova12 You actually put the tube in the bag and use a rubberband to hold the bag in place. Then you cut a long slit at the other end of the bag (horizontally) so that when the fog goes through the bag, it's compressed and is heavy and stays close to the ground for a longer time.
It's best if you don't use it inside unless you've got some windows open. The fog juice is water-based, so in large amounts it could leave some traces of moisture.
Yes, I have a fog machine and used it inside my house. My Brinks security system's fire alarm went off and automatically dispatched the fire department to my house lol... needless to say they had a chuckle.
I thinking next time I'll use chicken wire, or mesh. Though I've been told that the best way is to just shoot the fog right into the chiller without any type of duct because the more it comes in contact with the ice, the thicker the ground fog will be.
The fog juice that comes with it stinks and really smokes up the place. The best fog juice out there is Froggy's Fog Juice. It was designed by as asthmatic, though I'd never again use the fog machine indoors unless I've got fans blowing the smoke out the window.
why didn't you just put dry ice in the ice compartment? It probly would of worked fust as well than using a whole bunch of ice and taking a whole bunch of room!
I tried to use dry ice pellets, but the effect wasn't the same. The whole disadvantage to this type of fog machine is that the ice chamber is really small, probably only able to hold three cups of ice.
Regular ice works fine. And sometimes it's better because some fog juices which are water-based work best with ice because they mix with the evaporating water and the fog lasts a little longer.
Yes, I put a box with ice and the smoke exits the machine and goes into the box with ice. The ice cools the smoke and makes it stay close to the ground.
instead of a dryer hose inside of the cooler, you can use chicken coup wire and make it into a cylinder, so when its filled with ice it pretty much makes a open tube so the fog is directly exposed to the ice.
You fried your machine! Omfg. How the heck did you manage to do that! I'm posting my video right now. Don't forget to subscribe. Please post a video of your dry ice creations okay? Thanks by the way!
I just shot a video of my ground fogger in action. The only thing that I need to do is add music to the video through window's movie maker but I don't know how! If anyone can help me please do. Thank you!
I have one of these machines. I would suggest creating the fog chiller the same way that the machine is designed. There is a wall right in the middle that goes up halfway through the middle of the cooling chamber, therefore the fog has no choice but to travel upward through the grate and be cooled by the ice, then go down the other side of the wall. You should try simulating that in a bid fog chiller. I plan on trying it with my 700w fog machine and not my ground one for a more powerful effect.
That's an excellent suggestion. I pulled mine out from storage today and will do some experimenting over the next few weekends. I think I'm going to keep it outside this year though because the smoke was a little too much indoors.
Fair enough. Are you going to try my idea? I think that it would work. I'm excited to see what creations you can come up with. Don't forget to post them here on Youtube! I'll Subscribe to you so that I'm notified when you post. When I used mine the other day I was worried that it would set off the fire alarm and the fire department would come! XD
I have two ideas I want to try now. Yours and ComPrt3's as well. I bought a 25 gallon bin with a lid and I'll see if I can make it a modular design so that I can try both.
I can't wait to see them! Please post asap! The only problem with these kind of chillers is getting the fog in contact with the ice. If you use my idea then the fog has no choice but to come in direct contact with it. It also saves you money on ice because you don't need to fill it from the bottom up. A 25 gallon bin would require a LOT of ice. I curious to see though. People tell me it takes them weeks of trial and error so I'm glad you're here to try it before I do. Saves me time! lol. cant w8
You know, You would get better results with an regular fogger. The fog won't have to slow down in the ice chamber of the fogger before it gets to the chiller. Also try runing more of the ducting through the chiller. Kind of wind it around the inside the chiller. It gives the fog more of a chance to cool down. Also if you use real "Ground Hugging Fog Juice", the fog will disapate before it rises. Just a few friendly tips. Happy Halloween. :)
Thanks, that's actually a good suggestion. It didn't have as much contact with the ice as I would have liked. I'm going to make some modifications for this year and will post those results after Halloween.
Yeah, you'd get the same results with a standard fogger. I did this test because I wanted the fog to stay lower to the ground for a longer time. The fog machine's ice chamber doesn't cool the fog enough to keep it low to the ground for a long time. I built the cooler so that fog would come in contact with more ice.
hey thanks man! i've got a fog machine in my car, got some videos posted as well..and i was thinking of trying the low fog effect instead of the general fog effect haha..thanks man, and check out my vids
You shouldn't need the ground fog fluid. If you get the standard fog fluid cold enough (it should be a lot colder than the surrounding air) then it should stay low to the ground.
1) Ground Fogger that you can get off of eBay or from Costco or Walmart. I used the ground fog juice that came with the Fogger. Also, the fogger came packaged with the remote timer.
2) A Husky-brand styrofoam ice chest.
3) An Aluminum Dryer Hose that I bought from Costco for about $8.
4) Sharp knife to cut a hole in the styrofoam.
5) 20 pounds of ice.
6) Some waterproof duct tape to seal the hole where the dryer hose goes through
The duct tape wasn't the best choice for me since the styrofoam was too fragile. The best way to do it would be to cut the hole slightly smaller for a tighter dryer hose fit, and then use something like rubber cement. Don't use any silicone sealant because that will melt the styrofoam.
Yeah. Just fill up the fog fluid container with some distilled water (or water that you've boiled and let cool) and let it run on its own for about 10 or 15 minutes. Just long enough so that you don't see any more traces of the fog fluid in the container. It's best to clean it if you know you're going to store it for a while.
$60 plus shipping from eBay. Though if you look around eBay now you should be able to find it for a lot cheaper. It came with one gallon of fog juice, plus a remote timer.

Dryer hose is supposed to be heat resistant, if you wanted to really cool the fog, you might try using another kind of tubing. (Least, I would think)
