  • I keep a schrade honesteel in my kit for keeping my knives topped off in the field along with a small dual sided spyderco stone. I leave the waterstones at home. I have seen vids of folks that Cary them into the woods but that's crazy.

  • Hey cody, I've got a question for you. I took your recommendation on the versamax 2 holster a while ago and couldn't be more pleased with the product. Because of this and a lot of your other videos, I know without a doubt that you are familiar with quality. I am now in the market for a hunting knife and I want something that will last a lifetime. I was wondering if you knew of any very reputable knifemakers from whom I might be able to purchase. Thanks for your time, I appreciate what your doing

  • this is by far the best sharpening video on youtube, thank you.

  • Love these types of tutorial videos. I need to learn how to sharpen my knives and this helps so much. Love the bushcraft knives you have as well. I have a blindhorse knife but haven't used it much. Thanks for sharing and posting.

  • Love sharpening my blades. the scandinavian grind is pure plesure to sharpen.

    I yous 800 - 1000 - 3000 - 5000 - 8000 - 10.000 stones and to top it of a real gental stobbing on an dovo strob.

Thanx four the wonderful vid sir =)

  • I would like to sit in on your Bible study if it is OK with you. What time do you meet?

  • Another quality video by Wranglerstar!

  • Great vid! I find it very relaxing to take some time and put a killer edge on a knife. It"s very satisfying.

  • what is that nice, Cody? Is that a BHK? I LOVE mine...

  • Enjoyed the vid! You've recommended the Japanese water stones before, and one of my friends has as well. I'll look into acquiring some, they're a good pass-time and many of my knives definitely need a better/sharper edge.

  • This is one skill I still have yet to fully master, I get em sharp but not like that, great craftsmanship in sharpening

  • great video, thanks...I have a question for you..i have seen other people use a different stone to keep the water stones flat? they rub the 2 stones together to keep them as flat as possible?(after the stones get high and low spots)...or am i thinking of totally different sharpening stones?...Thanks again

  • i just got an arbor to cut stone i imagine you could put a knife sharpening wheel on it too...it goes up to 3500 rpm

  • Wow. Great video. Thank you.

  • Thanks for showing how it's done

  • great video lol but @ 6.18 you got the email sound "BLING" haha i stopped the vid and checked my email. realized it was the vid not my mail

  • Great Video Cody, thanks !

  • excellent vid! this is a process i also enjoy. i've seen the car widow technique used and its a great way to hone the knife edge, that hard polished surface at the edge of the glass does a fantastic job.

    thanks for the vid

  • Great video!

Will the gun videos be under Wrangierstar, and the Off Grid videos be on the wranglerstar channel?

  • Great video Wrangler. I now have to look into getting a set of these stones.

  • Excellent job!

  • Thank you for the education!

  • A couple things that may interest you:

A leather strop loaded with Mothers Aluminum Polish will bring an edge to a mirror finish, and razor edge.

A computer mouse pad is an excellent nonslip surface to set your stones on while you're working your blades.

  • Very informative Cody, thanks! I might get some of those for my old Mora.

  • I enjoyed the old video on your previous channel, but I think this one is even better! Looks like I'm dong it correctly, I just need to practice more. Thanks for the video.

  • @srvblues00 Thanks I appreciate the comment

  • That is Awesome!!!

  • I' m convinced! I've sharpened all my various tools, knives, axes, hoes, shovels, lawn mower blades, even my wife's cutlery and your demo of the Japanese Sharpening Stones is the most impressive.

    Thanks,

    Richard of Danbury

  • @Richardofdanbury Thanks Richard

  • beautiful mirror polish with the 6000 grit stone!

  • Cool! More knowledge to absorb. Your bushcraft knife looks like a work of art. What kind of wood handles does it have? Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work!!!

  • @BigOStyle1 The handle is made of spalded maple

  • Cool! More knowledge to absorb. Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work!!!

  • I have always been a big fan of diamond sharpeners, they rip metal off like a cinderblock but leave an edge as if it was a medium grit stone.

  • @JustinBaker2567 yes this has been my experience with diamond. Its quick and dirty

  • i am a chef and i like your attention to sharp things. thankyou for the vids. i just need to get in your bible study next time around .

  • @flatbreadfb we have room, hope to see you next thursday

  • great job there!

  • I just found your site a few hours ago. It is fascinating because I am a 60 year old version of you. There aren't many guys nowdays who are into so many productive things as you are.

I have the idea that you are not too far from where I live and would sure love to chew the fat some time. I live in Otis, Oregon.

Please shoot me back an email- leonard (at) oregonfamilyrights (dot) com

  • Very good. Are you happy with your spyderco bushcraft knife?

  • @travelightribe yes its my favorite knife.

  • Great video and that's a gorgeous knife.

  • Do you still recommend smith's sharpening kit's?

  • @billyshob yes for touching up your EDC its very good. Any beginner can work a fine edge in a short time.

  • Awesome video! Thanks for passing along the information. Very informative!

  • I know it's childish but still.
