This was ironic, the 137 service was always so sporadic that they would send 2 or 3 to cope with the huge queues of angry passengers. As for safety you should have travelled to the southern end of the 137 route and night. Now that is living dangerously.

Oxford Circus is a nightmare to get through by any means of transport
The best way to get in is probably to go to Marble Arch and enjoy the same exact shops they have there

@poussecafe3 Hang on! I lived at the southern end (Kings Avenue Clapham) in the sixties. Obviously living at the edge passed me by!
