you know what i love about this kind of pedal, it doesn't just sound good enough to be given a space on your pedal board, it gets a pedalboard to its self because you would probably get that and maybey a mini booster on a normal pedalboard,
Specially when playing with single-coil pups, you are just gonna feel the "foooze" attacking you from behind (where the amp usually is) even when you have your palm over the strings muting them. Or even when the guitar's volume knob is down to 0
@taylorjeremy71 Andy from PGS is cool too in a more pronounced way, but you clearly do not yet understand the awesomeness that is Gearmanndude. trust me he is a legend, as is Phil X from frettedamericana. The three of them are the trifecta of youtube pedal/guitar/amp demos!!! :D
Why doesn't he play some Hendrix licks through that thing. These units are famous for their ability to interact with the guitars volume knob, how could you do a demo for this pedal and not demonstrate this feature. This dude has a tonj of demos of great gear but he doesn't know how to use any of it. And I've yet to hear a descent lick outta this guy.
how do you dump off alot of those pedals after you demo them?? thanks for all the great efforts you have provided us gearheads!! funny, i just typed gearwads for no appearant reason..but i fixed it....funny...
Vox Wah-Wah, Roger Mayer Octavia (Fuzzface is ok too), Uni Vibe for Chorus (Dunlop), a couple of 100wtts Plaxis Marshall and a Stratocaster with Custom 69 or 54's pick ups (if possible a left handed upside down in case you're right handed) and you'll be able to achieve hendrix sound for sure, remember, "sound" is not "skill" or "creativity".
I own one of these got a limited edition signed by Mr Mayer...but apart from all that these are amazing pedals your guitar doesn't end up sounding like a big 'fuzzy' mess so to speak, you can still hear the notes...this does a good job a getting close to the Voodoo Child (Slight return) sound, you can hear me using it on my page on 'Voodoo Jam'.
If you get the chance get one, you won't be disappointed.
@o1zeidler Why? seriously, I'm trying to choose b/w distortion and fuzz. I'm not really experienced at this because I'm used to using digital multi-effects. Can you help me?
@imman033190 Well basicly the fuzzfaces need batteries to use, and mine just went out, and i have been using it nonstop for the past 2 months so not bad.. other than that to answer your question, choosin from dist to fuzz can be really hard.. so if you want to play awesome Jimi solo's etc. etc. you should deffinately buy this or the dunlop, but if you go for some standart chord progression or whatever your playing, multi-effects and more distortion is the way you should go. Id try them out first
my axis fuzz sounds shittt with alkaline batteries, what kinda battery do you have in yours? zinc chloride? thats what i originally had in it...but was wondering what you had in yours?
I'm willing to spend some funds on one of these legendary fuzz pedals - Between the Spitfire, Classic, and Axis, I'm not entirely sure which one I should get...wanting some good rhythm tones for rock/blues and maybe a little lead work. Any suggestions?
this fuzz sounds amazing! firstly i adored the ehx double muff (still do) but now there are no doubts about it! i'm after that juicy, fat/warm fuzz sound of the '60s and '70s and i think i've found a winner!
Dear Gearmandude, I am in debt to you forever for all of the videos you post. Keep up the good work. Because of you I will now own 232 fuzz pedals kidding kind of haha!
I just bought a friends used beat up axis fuzz. Imo it sounds almost identical to certain mid to late Hendrix stuff. It really kills any analogman or fulltone fuzz I have ever had. It is almost like these botuqie pedal guys now make fuzz's tamer, weaker and cleaner. Where when I plugged into the axis it had a incredible tight bottom cut though the mix and spitted like the real deal. The mayer stuff deserve's a lot props. Great demo keep it up I enjoy them GMD .
I have to say gmd. Even though the sound on youtube sucks and it is impossible to tell what fuzzs really sound like. Imo the axis fuzz is the best sounding fuzz I have heard you demo. It really sounds a lot similar to Jimi. I like it better than the analogman stuff abut.
What I like about it is its not over the top. Sounds very distortiony at the lower gain setting which I like, of coursewhen you turn that knob up itgets a little crazy ha.
@gearmanndude sometimes? or ALL THE TIME? every one of your videos that i've watched has more comments about you sounding like jack black than about the pedals. but i have to admit you kinda do lol. i love your pedal reviews you helped me choose between the crybaby classic and the vox v847A
