  • Does this video work for gay people?

  • @BadAssBlackOverlord if you dont like the video... then fair enough, but the homaphobic refrence in this day & age is beneath us all ffs...

  • So, basically what you're saying is...

    1) Google and download AVI FourCC Code Changer

    2) open the video and change both entries to DIVX

    3) ????

    4) Profit!

Why did you need 10 minutes to tell us that?

  • And btw, I tried your method. It didn't work.

  • @DragonslayerProd it took 10 mins because i was board : /

i dont understand why it doesn't work (unless you dont have DivX 5.1.1 (or higher) installed ?

if your using the old 5.02 pro codec this normaly wont work

  • BTW... I got a program from my friend called Video Spell Changer. You run your video through it and it spell checks the video contents and fixes it for me. I may think spelling, grammar, and diction is stupid, but all my videos don't have to reflect that.

  • 99.9% Xvid and 1% DivX it's impossible :D

  • why does mine say "status undetermined"?

  • @jon99867 would narow it down if i new what said status undetermined : /

vegas, ulead, pinnacle, after effects, just the avi, g-spot or the cc changer ?

alls i can say is try right clicking and running as administrator

  • omfg you spent WAAAY Too much time on this goddam video... hahah it made my day though

  • @MarijuanaGrowSource i was wrecked lol

  • WARNING: I have too much time on my hands, I spent too much time on this video..so...

    what about MJPG?

  • @fotoobscura MJPG is easy ;)

just depends what version of windows you have, if you run windows XP, try searching on google for SLD Codec Pack, or ACE Mega Codec Pack

if your on vista or windows 7, look for Morgan MJPG Codec Download

note that with ace mega codecs pack you can also use the Codec dashboard to load and unload codecs, for mjpg you only need the codec, you can untick the tray tool

  • god nothing works for me, ive tried fucking everything.

  • @teamxjacobx read around the net for "codec packs" if your using xp you could try SLD Codec pack, or Ace Mega Codecs Pack, for vista and windows 7 just google "AIO codec pack" its bound to find something ;)

  • Hey, I can't find out how to get it; I have the newest version, and in my file, there is no Fourc changer thing.

  • @Hellokity3333 you need to download FourCC Code Changer

it doesn't come with vegas, its not made by sony or sonic foundry

you can iether search it on google and download it, or install XviD and it should then be in the XviD folder on the start menu, most xvid installers add the file :)

  • I'm using the FourCC Code Changer, but I don't have the option to change to Divx, only DIV4 and DIV3... what's that about?

  • @Pangirl777 just type in DivX in the boxes :)

  • @TheWraith k thanks :))

  • This is what im getting, any help?

    /albums/af42/Mighty_Mongoose_King/gsthing.jpg

  • @rwos14 on photobucket. Youtube wouldn't let me post link lol

  • will it create a new file, or just update the original one?

  • @luvletters2bevz it will update the original one, wich might stop it working in media player & vlc, but you can change it back later, it only changes the header of the avi (wich takes mear miliseconds) its not a long proccess like a conversion

  • You spelt "dam" wrong

  • mine works but the quality is very very bad

  • Man this still didn't work for me. So frustrating!!

  • I don't know yet if I actually have a problem with the video yet. My first issue is the audio track is 3X longer then the movie and and not successfully waited for it to load (pointless).

  • yeah i get that sometimes with avi's my self to, but mainly the 700mb xvid movies, some use a weird audio codec wich has a different playback rate

sadly most the time their i end up rendering the audio as a wav, then i drop the video back in (with build peeks off) and drag up the avi & bin the audio stream, then switch on build peeks and import the wav & line it up manualy with the video :(

  • haha thanks, you help me kill the green screen of DEATH! oh and btw, song name please

  • @DaFeasher first is theme from "hard to kill" stevn segal movie, 2nd is from epicon globus

a joint project between x-ray dog & immediate music (2 trailer music companies)

  • @DaFeasher first is theme from hard to kill, a steven segal movie, 2nd is from epicon globus

a joint project between x-ray dog & immediate music (2 trailer music companies)

  • Well done, Thank you for the post. Worked Great.

  • hello. i got only audio

  • @korgpadude google these words in a row

    Gspot Codec Information

open the video in gspot, that'll list what codecs were used to make the video

  • i did downloaded it it says its installed but when i put the film in the sony vegas it shows only audio

  • it will do, most codecs allow playback of video (not real time editing) to edit them most require you to by the codec its self

now depending on who renderd the video, they may of mixed 2 incompatable codecs because of fps compaird to audio compression

when i had one that wouldn;t run in vegas i actualy used to export what i wanted out of windows movie maker (as PAL DV) this saved me loosing quality on the render, then that would drop into vegas

  • if it has no picture in movie maker (open it in media player and let media player aquire the codec then press stop on media player (but leave it open)

then drop it into movie maker and it should work ;)

  • you just on about this video, or every video ive ever made ?

because i think my 800+ subscribers outways your "2"

and i think my 400+ videos outway your 3

but hell.. if your gona judge all my work from this one video, then so be it LOL

    ps

i assume you lernt something from this

otherwise why were you watching it ?

  • I'd sadly have to agree to this guy, I would make these Vids shorter and to the point, Cut it out with all the Theatrics Crap...

  • mines red. but i use wmv files

  • normaly red is corupted during import

open it in windows movie maker

then export out of that as "PAL-DV" uncompressed, saves loosing any quality, then import that pal-dv avi into vegas

  • this is quite possibly the worst formatted help video I've ever seen

Great information, but a horrible way to display it,could have fit all that info into about 2 minutes of video, thanks anyways, I guess.

  • i agrea 200% LOL

i was just so excited i got lost in the moment of finaly getting vids into vegas :D

  • i still see a black video

  • have you got divx installed

thats why you change it to DivX ?

  • yes i do have Divx installed and its still not working

  • this happning with all avi's or just certain movies ?

if these are camera clips (rather than movies) you'll need the MJPG codec

  • my problem is dat,only video no,audio

  • i get that a lot, ive not looked for a solution for that yet, when i have that problem i normaly just drop it into movie maker and export as a WAV or MP3 then drop that in with the avi

movie maker (like media player) uses the net to use the codecs in real time, so its rare movie maker wont export audio

if it wont, open the video in media player and leave that open and drag it into movie maker and you should be able to save as an audio file, not a great solution but feasable for now ;)

  • bosta

  • it doesn't work, still can't see the video in sony vegas 7

  • you got divx 5.1.2 or higher installed ?

  • Where did you get avi fourcc code changer! I can't find it anywhere!

  • just got to google

    and search for

    avi fourcc code

and theirs stacks of links : /

  • Hi, anytime I tried to open Sony vegas you know they download bar at the bottom will get to initializing Directx Plug-ins and it will stop or freeze. Sony vegas will not pass that point or open at all. Please help me.

  • have you ever manualy updated direct x ?

its not done via windows update its self

you have to hit microsoft & download it then install it, then reboot & try again :)

  • You took 10 fucking minutes to say something that should've taken ONE MINUTE.

"Use AVI FourCC Code Changer to change the AVI file to DIVX, then re-import."

Jesus Christ, there was so much useless information and wasted time and things you repeated like 3 or 4 times.

    Otherwise, great video. Thanks.

  • Yeah, but he added really cool video effects and music.

  • That's true. I take everything back. In fact, let me waste another 10 minutes watching this video. The soundtrack is captivating.

  • LOL ur exactly right i had to wait about 5 mins for him to say somehting taht actually helps

  • but i was so happy i figured it out

    its like that...

guess what... your never gona beleive it, i cant believe it my self... bla bla bla bla LOL

  • Amen, TerranRich... this is the 7th tutorial video I've seen today that spent 1 minute teaching and 9 minutes fluffing. Fucking hell...

  • LOL

  • divX or Xvid has better video quality?

  • both the same realy

i would say XviD is better with sizes though

    but... depending on your xvid

(IE, if you have all kinds of codec packs installed) then using xvid could be an old one, wich can cause some folks problems

find the 1.3 "or newer" xvid & use that

  • LOLLLL I got a RSoD, yeah red, instead of black or green :/

  • red is normaly a damaged codec or a corrupt avi

ive had a few red frames in a video wich ment the SD card the video came off had bad sectors, if its all red, the vids ither corrupt or the codec its self has problems, may need a newer version of the codec

  • thank you :D

  • It didn't work :(. Now I can't even open the videos in the CC changer OR Vegas. Claims the file cannot be found/error.

  • vegas imports videos using frames cc changer opens video "header" as data IE if your having problems with "both" programs then you have pc problems (not just codec problems) thats like uninstalling quick time (then windows media player no longer works) its ilogicle & not possible not importing into vegas ide understand but not into the cc changer i dont understand that, unless its not a video, thats the only way the cc wouldn't open it (unless its a .DivX not a. avi)
  • kk that didnt work i copy what u done but the same proble as u the gren screen and black screen but i got the red 1 so what the problem

  • red normaly means that the video is corrupt

IE, some SD Camera cards (when slightly dammaged) the corrupt sections show up as red frames (wich can also mean its not a real video)

ide try the video in Gspot to see what the codecs ment to be

read the gSpot comment below :)

  • i should also note that you probably

    need divx 5.1.1 (or higher)

if you got that old cracked 5.02 it wont work with xvid 1.03 avi's

  • i have da same problem.. i have divx 7.

  • but is it registerd ?

as in enterd a serial to purchase the codec ?

    or downloaded a cracked one

divx offers the user to "watch" divx videos, and even they have the DivX water mark in the corner when you click play

your not licensed to "Edit" unless you have a license (thats paid for) or cracked or something

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I've been trying to get some videos to work for days now and you finally gave me the answer i had been looking for. Thanks again.

  • avifourcc xvid to divx worked, thanks :)

  • Thanks alot, worked! (it would be better if you made the text a bit faster :)

  • the reason for long text is some people will get this on a dial up connection, when a dial up streams its much lower quality & very blocky

normaly when something is bufferd or re-renderd you loose quality as an item apears

IE, the text comes on but takes time to apear clearly, quicktime renders per pixel

    IE

a basic 10 min video can be 64mb on high res

a 10 min video with loads of effects can be 200+mb on highres

    essentialy

some frames get more pixel priority during render :D

  • and the cheep cop out explination..

some people read realy slow lol

  • doesnt work for me

  • Down below the explorer window, in sony vegas 8 pro, it has Video: and Audio:

All attributes show up for audio no matter what avi it is, but for the Video: bit it just says "stream attributes could not be determined". AND HENCE THE NO VIDEO FEED OF DEATH.

i've tried CC changers and codecs. nothing works. Ideas?

  • maybe the video is'nt a real avi as in

    video.AVI

    i wonder if its

    video.DivX

a .divx is kinda like a rar, it contains way more info than a normal avi

hit google & look for these words

    G-Spot Codec Information

the program is free (no install, just unzip)

you can use it to scan the video & it'll give you masses of information from codec to build of codec and can also offer solutions for playback

(if playback works then you just need the "full/retail" version of the codec

  • thanks mate, i appreciate your help. i'll give it a bash.

  • no good. gspot says its all good and the codec is installed, but vegas cant even open the file if u change the cc

  • yip gspot will say the codec is installed (because you can watch it) but theirs 2 options near the bottom with a (1) & (2)

were you can test the filters

thing is "most" codecs allow you to watch videos, if you want to edit them, sometimes you have to buy the codec so its got edit & compresion features enabled

    i gather its a 700mb or 350mb avi ? lol

have you got divx 6 or higher ?

if you have 5.02 or that 5.1.1, it'll have problems

  • also unless divx is registerd that may also not allow it to work on importing

you no when you play avi's in windows media player, do they show the water mark on the bottom corner for a few seconds ?

if the option to turn that off is grey'd out then its the freebie bundle of divx

maybe able to fix that watermark depending on what divx you have

but ye kinda need a full install of 5.1.2 or higher

XviD 1.3b is mpg4 and 5.1.1 & lower has problems decompressing it

  • THAT'S WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!

  • It works even on Vegas 8-pro... Erase the Xvid, & then type in both boxes DivX, then apply and wallah!!!

    Thanks The Wraith!

  • ive started using that vegas 8 pro to :D

i used to love the sonic foundrey version 4, but having quick time 7 in made it start to go weird, by the time i got to QT version 7.4.5, then at 7.5.3 that killed it dead for using movs :'(

codecs & the windows codec merit system sucks lol

  • We can read faster than this.

  • So you cant use .wmv on it?

  • you can but it stutters like a cow : /

see media player files are intended to be played (not re-edited) their also designed to stream in packets down a network (internet)

they tend to use VBR (variable bitrate)

say you drop in a wmv & use a word from it in a video, you line up the word so the guy speeks, when ye exit and re-open it chances are the word is'nt lined up again

solution is to open wmv in movie maker & export as pal DV and use that file (its more stable when being decompresd)

  • It sril doesn't solve the WMM problwm. when you make an Xvid or Divx movie WMM and publish it in the .wmv formt, it pushes the video to the top half and puts green space at the bottom.

  • wmv is a pain & microsoft made it that way :'( what i tend to do with them is export them out of movie maker as an uncompressed pal DV avi & use that,

one tip with vegas (4 is in the options) (8 its on the view drop down) theirs an option to draw wav forms (if you sack that) it removes the preview from the actual time line, then drop preview window to draft & wmv run a little better (but not much) vegas accesses a video 3 times (timeline, preview, media bin) codec in use 3 times for one video

  • ok good because I have a 200fps Xvid video

  • yip sometimes audio wont drop in (normaly) because its variable bitrate rather than constant, or sometimes its just due to a missing codec, i get a lot that wont build peeks & vegas hangs for a bit then it opens & i can hear it but have no peeks at all

vegas 8 opens most avi's & audio so if you spot it anywere snag it :)

you could scan the avi with that Gspot codec program (to get audio codec name) & see if you can get the codec as a seperate installer

  • But at 5:56 it said it had to be 25.47 fps or 29.97 fps.

  • ye i get what you mean, i should of clarified it in more detail

see videos (direct AVI's from a camera) they use a codec called MPJG (motion jpg)

the camra takes 30 pictures a second & saves them as an avi, the frame decompression rate (on cheep gfx cards) is prity deadly in certain editors (if its xvid or divx dont worry about the fps) because if its xvid or divx then its already been cropped & re-padded.

opening like 3200x2800 in MJPG format (on frame by frame view is deadly)

  • damn it worked only by a half bcoz i have no sound.

  • Wait a sec! will it work with a 1280x1024 res Avi file?

  • works with any res file :D

if you install the likes of SLD Codec Pack (latest) and ACE Megga codec pack, you get most filters & little programs (also you get a "Codec DashBoard" wich lets you tick & untick codecs (rather than having to install & uninstall) so you can have all codecs installed & unload em so apps will use what ye tell windows codec reg entries to allow :)

  • But it has to be a certain framerate?

  • secret to frame rates is vegas "project settings"

open up vegas then click "file" (were you save, import & render) so on file, scroll down to properties & click it (that box is for the current project) if you change those project settings to the same as the avi, when you drop the avi in (vegas wont change it) if you google search for an app called "Gspot codec" it'll bring up a video scanner wich gives all video information from a file, so you'll no the settings to use for vegas :)

  • Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I got tired of using Virtual Dub to make Uncompressed videos in WMM! Really Eats Up HDD too.

  • i no what ye mean lol, im working on a 3 hour movie thats gigs of camera avi's, i got lots of smaller hdd's but im on my 3rd PSU due to pushing the voltage with drives : / lol

  • Can you send me a message with a dummed version of this? You have all these places circled and what not of where to type stuff in, but how do we even get there???

  • theirs also this video on youtube

HOW TO: Vegas - Edit DIVX/XVID Videos

you just download the avi program (look for it with an internet search engine like google or yahoo or something)

then download it, double click it, when it opens (browse to the avi with the browse button) once the avi is open, it'll say in them 2 boxes what the avi is, type in the boxes then click apply & exit & its done

  • depends what you mean by frame edit : /

do you wish to edit an actial image in the frame or like just change the frames playback limit (nose on google) phrases like

    FREE frame limit ajuster Download

    FREE AVI Frame Changer download

diffrent phrases, ive found a few od things in the past, like the app i used in this video is a frame editor, but theirs so many ways a frame can be "edited" so questions need to be more specific :)

  • Does anyone know any video frame editor software

  • does this reduce the video quality???

  • it only reduces quality when you render a video, and that depends on how much compression you use on codec during the export

  • This Video is soo long for such a simple important thing.

  • i was exited that id finaly popped an xvid into a video program that was out before xvid was even dreamed of LOL

  • Hi very useful video, 2 questions 1. what music are you playing cos i want it.

    2. vid editor you use Vegas?

  • yip vegas video (version 4 by sonic foundry)

version 8 is out now, by sony (wich can import much more than vegas 4 can) but 4 is less system draining

the music is a mox of "Nico" and "hard to Kill" them 2 old steven segal films

  • the other music is "Take me Away" from the epicon album, theirs 2 music companies that make music for movies & movie previews "X-ray Dog" and "Imediate Music" their realy good (but hard to come by) they only sell to studios, take me away was a public recording with lyrics, based on "armed by faith" from x-ray dog

  • This is WRONG.

Immediate Music first came out with "Armed by Faith" (no lyrics) on their album 'Themes for Orchestra and Choir', and just last year [or so] Globus released their album Epicon with "Take Me Away"- which is what you heard in the movie.

X-Ray Dog has absolutely nothing to do with Immediate Music.

  • i thought it was a joint venture

if you read around the net you'll find info about 1 of the composers (from x-ray dog)working with immediate music (to release a public based album) essentialy a few sits say it was a colaberation

  • Thewraith,

I got LG viewty phone as my DIVX capture device, when I input the video in to Vegas 8. The screen show up perfectly, but the audio track is gone. ( i can play this video on other player with sound)

I had tried to use ur method with the CC changed to DIVX and Vegas still can not get the sound out from the video.

I could not figure out how to import my divx for edit....

Hoping u can help. Million thanks.

  • you may need to install the audio codec manualy, see when you run vids in media player, media player aquires the codec & the license to play it (to play a video with a codec is generaly free) but to make or edit (using that codec, it can cost) your best bet is to do a google for a prog called "G-Spot Codec" its free, that'll scan the video & actualy name the codec used, then try & get this codec & manualy install it

  • 1 trick that sometimes works, sometimes if you open the video in media player and let it play a little then press stop (leave media player open so codec is registerd as a running prosses) and load the same video into "windows movie maker" if it loads in, render as Uncompressed pal or NTSC "DV" with no compression (and it'll export with its original quality :) also you can tweek codecs by installing a thing called "Direct Show Filter" file name like DDF-01042008 or DFF-

    has 3 letters & date

  • Thanks for your quick response,

    Video: DivX 5 640x384 30.00fps 1994Kbps [Video 0]

Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 22050Hz mono 64Kbps [Audio 1]

i try ur let media player run method with no luck... still trying

  • if its MP3 chances are its "LAME" its an MP3 codec, you can get "lame MP3" from a few sites, do a google for it :) sometimes you can get an exe install or a DLL file & a TXT file, you put the DLL into a folder then use (start/run) and a regserve command to register the dll with windows, google should find it & show how to intall it :)

Note that some divx 5 and 5.2 files have corrupt audio headers & cant be decompressed

  • THanks Wraith, i will try to find LAME tomor.

i tried installing k-lite codec today, it is worse, after installing k-lite, i can not even drag and drop the video to vegas.

so i uninstalled it and installed the new DIVX codec and back to stage 1. (btw, i try using winavi to convert to mp4, after that video work perfect on vegas... just not the smartest way and annoying, but work)

  • codecs are such a pain, if you do a google the words

    Super(c) Video Converter

its free, that does almost anything to anything, can be handy :)

also i can save you hours on rendering movies for youtube :)

render out of vegas as 320x240 MOV (uncompressed mov video & audio) it'll be about 1 gig for 10 min video (but export is dead fast cos its not compressing) then put a pro serial in quick time and open mov, hit file then export using quick time, compresses dead fast :)

  • you could use something like (Total Recorder) to recoard the audio (while the vids playing in media player) then use that wav & the video together to make a new video, if you have a "Creative Labs sound card" they come with an audio recorder if you install it from the driver cd

    ps

i dont have my own net anymore so some replies take a few days :'(

  • worked like a charm - all these years haunted by AVI problems in Vegas - THANKS

  • glad to be of help :)

i used to have gigs of uncompressed DV avi's for editing lol

another tip (if vegas is a bit laggy)

you can also re-tage the avi then chop it into smaller peices (no re-render) just chop with the likes of "Easy Video Splitter" or "AVI Cutter" :)

a few 350/700mb avi's can still send vegas wobbly lol

  • I went from fraps' avi to virtualdub and compressed the raw avi using ffdshow codec..afterwards virtualdub wont take the outputed avi, this method of yours didn't trick virtualDub it seems =[

  • ive got virtualdub but ive never realy used it, one thing i do know is you will need the ffdshow pluggin vor virtualdub :)

im not sure what site its on but it is avalible, i saw it a few weeks ago, it maybe on the ffdshow site (or linked from it)#have a look on google for

    "ffdshow plugin"

    (or) "virtualdub plug in virtualdub"

    should find it

  • This dosent work for me.

I am converting some episodes to WMV right now becouse i can't import it to Vegas (only the sound imports)

Well, they should be done by tomorrow ;)

  • Now this is strange:

It works with Windows XP but not with Vista, I just found it out (i have both operation systems on my PC).

Well 10x for the info then. ;)

  • wmv is a nightmare for re-editing, if you have XP pro, sometimes its easier, depends on the codecs you have installed

wmv is essentialy licenced for playback & render (not re-render) vegas hates wmv as its trying to decompress them in real time & their kinda like variable bittrate mp3's :'(

1 handy buy is a Tv-video-IN card, as they come with codecs on the card (so its hardware renderd rather than software renderd) less legal restrictions on the decompression filters ;)

  • Yeah, 10x for the tips ;)

I just didn't try with XP before, now i know. :)

  • best tip for wmv (if its originaly a wmv)

is to render the wmv as an "Uncompressed DV-AVI" so it re-renders with no loss of quality, then re-render that avi as a wmv

sometimes trying to make a wmv into a smaller wmv wont work as the codec you wish to re-compress with is to buisy decompressing

& licence wise, its one video in use per mp codec :'(

    microsoft sucks lol

  • ok i want to make some of the videos i have smaller for my psp

    idk how to

think you can help me out please?

  • best bet & simplest way is probably "quick time"

you open up your video in quick time then select "file" then select "export"

and pick the MP4 option, and select 320x240 on the screen size (no real need to be any bigger in screen size)

you may need quick time pro to do it, but theirs loads of sites with quick time S/N: numbers or you could buy it :)

psp's also suport WMV (i think) so you maybe able to use movie maker, wich is free with xp :)

  • just a thought but you can get a video converter for free, called

    SUPER(C)

it does everything to everything lol

if you look on google for

    Super (c) video converter

it should find it (its defo free) and it works prity well

it can do Mp4 and all kinds :)

  • WTF!! one of my films got destroyed and one turned spanish for some reson??

  • i can belive maybe one got destroyd (but if you DONT back up a file before you mess with it, then thats outright stupidity) ALWAYS back up anything before you mess with it

as for spanish, no chance, unless it wasn't a real AVI (as in JUST an avi) it could of been one of them stupid compo pack avi's wich has sub files built in (to wich thats not realy an avi, its a kinda rar named as avi) "like comic CBR files"

iether way, this video trick works (all my airwolf was XviD)

  • 1st track is from iether "NICO" or "Hard To Kill" an old steven segal movie, next track is "Take Me Away" from the "Globus" Album, a public compliation of music from "Immediate Music" and "X-Ray Dog" (they normaly Only do trailer music for movies) its basicly X-ray dogs "Armed With Faith" but with lyrics, last peice is striaght out of "Stealth" :D

  • Thank you for the tip. Nice work. By the way would you tell me what are the music tracks that you used in the video. Thank you in advance

  • this ruined my cp graphic -_-

  • yip, importing to many 350mb avi's makes it wobble a lot, its best use is to cut it into chunks with a video trimmer & only import the chunks you need, ive only got a 256mb video card my self & an athlon 2000 (not a great pc) but this trick works for me

  • thx for the tip!

  • your welcome :)

  • this is the best video editing tip ive ever tried cool man 5 stars
