@inverseactuality Mosin Nagant's are excellent starting rifles. :) just prepare for that first round to be a thriller lol Mosin's have quite a kick (depends on the model though, my Dragoon is heavy so it absorbes alot of recoil). Also a warning, there's safety on the Mosin but its so damn hard to use. The best safety is to just leave the gun unloaded when not using it. Also talk to your mom about shooting lessons if you can get them. Have a good convo with her about you being safe. good luck man

They were outlawed in '84 due to the new act that its illegal to own a full auto rifle or gun unless you have one of the 1,000 licenses dispensed throughout the country, and the m-16 was easily able to be converted back to a full auto due to the lack of thought by the militarymen who changed the rifles. i know this because i just read about it in new york times.

@JameR242 kid did just fine. i still flinch once in a while when handling larger caliber rounds until i get comfortable with it. don't get to critical, he's not a pro or had special tactical training. i shoot many times with one eye closed and i can still hit the target but i keep both eyes open when using an eotech. i also sometimes shoot with the pistol close to my chest and left arm doing a high block.
Day BEFORE my 13th birthday i shot a .500 S&W and all kinds of awesome class 3 awesomeness on a trip to new hampshire... live free or die.

@vtogvblog umm i know. There are 3,000 licenses out now for full auto guns and no more will be issued. Yes you can own a SEMI-AUTO m-16, ak-47, 56 variant. Anything that is semi auto is 99% likely to be legal.

@Mightylite94 Find a class 3 dealer in your state, purchase the item you want, submit the NFA transfer paperwork, fingerprints, photos and the one time $ 200 transfer tax...and wait up to 3 months for approval. If you have a corporation or LLC to register the firearms to, no LE signature is required and the transfer time drops to 4 to 6 weeks. You become a SOT : special occupational tax payer. people get thesse licencses all the time. You are confused about the laws.

Under good adult supervision, teaching kids to shoot is beneficial as it dispels curiosity and helps to educate kids to respect guns as weapons, not toys. The education can help to prevent a tragic accident if a kid finds a gun; he may leave it alone knowing what can happen rather than play with it in ignorance of the consequences.
Guns are a reality, especially in the USA. You don't deal with it by sheltering children or lying to them with fearful falsehoods about it.

@PompousFlea He wasnt very safe.. keep it facing down range .. he stops and turns it sideways then continues to shoot after .. then at the end yes the slide came back but you still need to drop mag, check for rounds and yet still dont point it at the camera man or woman

@boxa1500 Any good parent would... I have the best parents in the world! They tought me to shoot, and the proper safety. All kids should be tought to shoot. Not only is it fun, but if I am home alone and there is a home invasion, then I can defend myself.

who ever teached this kid didn't know what their doing he's flinching ad closing his eyes every shot he should start with a .22 and work his way yup that habit will fuck him his whole life. same wwith his stanca and he has one eye closed

@JameR242 kid did just fine. i still flinch once in a while when handling larger caliber rounds until i get comfortable with it. don't get to critical, he's not a pro or had special tactical training. i shoot many times with one eye closed and i can still hit the target but i keep both eyes open when using an eotech. i also sometimes shoot with the pistol close to my chest and left arm doing a high block.
