The actual episode compared this explosion to a rock the size of a beach ball (~2 ft across) striking the Earth. It would hit at 30,000 miles per hour and leave a 17 foot deep hole. Two asteroids of good size flew between the Earth and the moon just yesterday I believe. It was in the news.
