  • Thkssss~~~

  • dude you have freaky nails

  • I dont know about great fun, but shure, I'll give it a go. Will take lots of practice, I'm a noobie.

  • It will take some practice, but i have nothing but time--thank you for the lesson

  • It's a good tutorial!

  • im having trouble with the triplet tafkam, is there a way you could show how to practice this, are you flickiing with ring and index, great technique ,i play the formby stlye which more based on cinc , thanks any way

  • Excellent, as always. Thanks Teach

  • perfect for picking fella! Trying to grow mine. Looks freaky but necessary.

  • wow

  • hi im just wondering is a Lanikai LU-21C Concert Ukulele better than a mahalo Les Paul ukulele?

  • What were the chords for the last example you did?

  • F, Adim, Bb C7

  • This was a great lesson. Perfectly explained and you have great technique. Thanks!

  • Mine was 80 euro, and its really good!I really like the sound of the cheap Mahalo ones tho,cuz they sound more...Hawaiian?

  • yeah cheap mahalos! haha that's what i have

  • I got a tenor from Sam Ash for$50 including shipping. They call it a baritone but it is mis labeled. Made by Brownsville. $200 on clearance for $50.

  • LOL! Thats how I strum in guitar!

  • how much are ukuleles??? i want one SO BAD!!!

  • it really depends where.

i got a tiny soprano for 40 (you could get one for cheaper too) it was a Hilo.

i finally upgraded to a concert ukulele. it looks exactly like the one in the video. it was priced for 170, went down to 100.. I got it for $80.

If you happen to buy a cheaper one, buy good quality strings!! I got martin strings ($8) for my soprano.

  • Not that much, you can get one for like 30-40 bucks. But there are those who cost like 1000 of bucks. :)

  • I just ordered a decent one for $30 USD.

  • Ukuleles can range from anywhere in between $25 for a cheap one to $1,000+ for professional quality. If you're looking to do this for a hobby, I'd advise you to actually go to a ukulele shop and see what you personally like, or what suits you. If you want something that'll last for a long time and you're planning to play the ukulele for real, I'd say somewhere from $400 or $500+ would be enough.

  • $28.00 - $1700.00 at my local music store, so between there and I'm sure you can find one for more than that, like a custom one, it really depends on the quality you want. Don't get one with a plastic fret board they suck. I bought a $40 Hilo to start a few years back and worked my way up to a Kamaka standard (Pineapple) for $650.00 when I knew I was interested in continuing to play.

  • $30-$200 are the average. in increments of $20.

  • BERKELeY !!!!!!Berkeley!!!!

  • Great videos! :) thanks for all the helpful tips and tricks :) xoxox!

  • Dress up? Should of wore a Stanford shirt. Nice strumming though.

  • woo berkeley

  • lovin the uke its nice and black

  • Very clear instructions. Thanks - I really want to try this now !

  • Ok, your my remote teacher now.

  • @lbullet78 you're

  • Oh sh#t! Very nice thanks!

  • Technically P-A-I-P is a quadruplet, not a triplet, though you could (and many do) use just P-A-P for a similar triplet.

Still very cool, and a great adaptation of one of the flamenco rasgeo techniques to the ukelele.

  • Well, I don't know anything about classical guitar, but the rhythm he is playing is definitely a triplet. It is like an eighth note followed by 3 16th note triplets. Listen at 1:41 or so.

  • is it working if u dont have nails?

  • what do you have? fleshy stumps

  • what was that song at 2:13???

  • Great video, what's the song you start into at ~2:00?

  • thanks! it's just a generic lead-in for a typical jazz swing song

  • loved the instruction...didn't like the shirt. Next time please show arms

  • Is it ok to use a pick?

  • that wouldn't work with this technique. unless you were going to use a thumb pick, i guess that might be ok.

  • The theory sounds as easy as "falling off a log" the mark of a great teacher. I found a book by Ohta San published by the Kamaka Ukulele Co. that mentioned many of the things you touch on with just a word or two. I couldn't figure out how to do fretboard picking and decided that it must have been a typo. But there you were effortlessly explaining it. I'm using a Martin soprano uke, but your instructions work well, even with the high G string. Please add more lessons!

  • Good job buddy.

  • ey bruddah da song that you play with the finish at the end what was that?

it started it out on the f!

    mahalo!!

man u sound awesome what kind of uke is that?

  • just a random jazz intro, something like F, F#dim, Dm, C7. it's a Lanikai uke, cheap!

  • LOL i got the same one, ya it's cheap 100$ =]

  • im gonna be buying one soon, the tenor

  • im buying one soon too, do u think i should get this one off of ebay, Its a soprano, 29.00 O_o ???

  • you'll end up wanting a concert uke eventually, so you might as well not waste your money on a tiny soprano. I'd recommend a makala mk-c, Lanikai lu-21c or a starter Kala Concert. Trust me.

  • Pono

  • what? pono what?

  • Pono makes great Ukes. They are actually made by Koolauo

  • is his a steel string uke? it sounds clean!!.

  • Cheap, but they are very good! I got mine for $80 and it sounds great. You can't undermind the Lanikai

Nice Playing BTW. My godsister went to Berkeley ;-)

  • All right...nice triple strum technique. I do mine with my pinky finger instead of the ring finger. Can't do it as well as yours, gotta give yours a try. Thanks

  • Mahalo! I'm hooked on all your vids now. You really do have a way with this. Natural born teacher. Thanks much, and keep posting these. You have a lot to share.

  • I wish I could play ukulele, but as a music major (Euphonium player) I really appreciate what you've done here.

  • Your shirt has California printed on it. Do you have a class in the Gardena/Torrance California area? Or do you have video's, DVD or books for sale?

  • His shirt represents University of California, Berkeley. Go Bears!

  • OK now you have stumped me for a while I have two left thumbs sometimes but I am tryining. LOVE the lessons you really are a great teacher. Keep at it and I will keep trying much better than some of the other online stuff.

  • thanks for the knowledge Taf, but you make it look way too easy ;) spose praccy makes perfect!

  • Nice! Thanks for the instruction vids!

  • thanks for the comment! glad you liked it, pass it on!
