im having trouble with the triplet tafkam, is there a way you could show how to practice this, are you flickiing with ring and index, great technique ,i play the formby stlye which more based on cinc , thanks any way
Ukuleles can range from anywhere in between $25 for a cheap one to $1,000+ for professional quality. If you're looking to do this for a hobby, I'd advise you to actually go to a ukulele shop and see what you personally like, or what suits you. If you want something that'll last for a long time and you're planning to play the ukulele for real, I'd say somewhere from $400 or $500+ would be enough.
$28.00 - $1700.00 at my local music store, so between there and I'm sure you can find one for more than that, like a custom one, it really depends on the quality you want. Don't get one with a plastic fret board they suck. I bought a $40 Hilo to start a few years back and worked my way up to a Kamaka standard (Pineapple) for $650.00 when I knew I was interested in continuing to play.
Well, I don't know anything about classical guitar, but the rhythm he is playing is definitely a triplet. It is like an eighth note followed by 3 16th note triplets. Listen at 1:41 or so.
The theory sounds as easy as "falling off a log" the mark of a great teacher. I found a book by Ohta San published by the Kamaka Ukulele Co. that mentioned many of the things you touch on with just a word or two. I couldn't figure out how to do fretboard picking and decided that it must have been a typo. But there you were effortlessly explaining it. I'm using a Martin soprano uke, but your instructions work well, even with the high G string. Please add more lessons!
you'll end up wanting a concert uke eventually, so you might as well not waste your money on a tiny soprano. I'd recommend a makala mk-c, Lanikai lu-21c or a starter Kala Concert. Trust me.
All right...nice triple strum technique. I do mine with my pinky finger instead of the ring finger. Can't do it as well as yours, gotta give yours a try. Thanks
Mahalo! I'm hooked on all your vids now. You really do have a way with this. Natural born teacher. Thanks much, and keep posting these. You have a lot to share.

how much are ukuleles??? i want one SO BAD!!!
aimeejoy10 2 years ago
it really depends where.
i got a tiny soprano for 40 (you could get one for cheaper too) it was a Hilo.
i finally upgraded to a concert ukulele. it looks exactly like the one in the video. it was priced for 170, went down to 100.. I got it for $80.
If you happen to buy a cheaper one, buy good quality strings!! I got martin strings ($8) for my soprano.
vampyredolly 2 years ago
Not that much, you can get one for like 30-40 bucks. But there are those who cost like 1000 of bucks. :)

Technically P-A-I-P is a quadruplet, not a triplet, though you could (and many do) use just P-A-P for a similar triplet.
Still very cool, and a great adaptation of one of the flamenco rasgeo techniques to the ukelele.

Is it ok to use a pick?
blankbob99 4 years ago
that wouldn't work with this technique. unless you were going to use a thumb pick, i guess that might be ok.
