I'm a bit lost, but I think it's just because I am using cs5 and I've only taken a couple graphic design classes using illustrator, so I'm still new to a lot of things. Great tutorial though! Even three years later!

After making the clipping mask, you have to unlock it by clicking the white box next to the black mask box. This will allow you to copy/paste the image in the next step.

These tutorials are great, and this one is good, but one problem. Once I create this thing, I can't copy and paste it at all. The image is frozen on the page, and you can't select it. Maybe it's me. Help!

Rock on man! I'm a fan of Illustrator, more or less an amateur still learning the overwhelming ability the program has. But this was an awesome tutorial. Keep it up. You seem very knowledgeable in Illustrator. I fortunately get to use Illustrator CS3 and all the Adobe CS3 programs on G5 Macs. So its awesome! I wish I knew a lot more than I do right now.

After I created the elpises I noticed everything was in one layer and you had 3. So i messed up somewhere lol...

Right before frame 08:24 i only see the Opacity mask in the layers swatch, but at frame 08:24 i suddenly see all layers, how did you do it?

When the opacity mask is the only "layer" in the layers palette I have the mask thumbnail selected(right) in the transparency palette, when you can see all of the layers I have the layer thumbnail selected(left). Hope that helps!

I had the very same problem as well. Great tutorial, i got there in the end. The only thing i found was that sometimes you didn't explain on what you had clicked a few times. Over time i have just learned to watch what the cursor is doing most of the time as sometimes people get carried away and forget to say what they have clicked on. It's just an oversight but what a great effect. i shall be using it in the future. Thanks
