Can you L-cancel a hookshot attack in the air? Also how do you move while using your up B? I've seen videos explaining the upB spike but still can't get it to work.

no, hookshot can't be L cancelled. You can cancel it with boomerang returning or by landing with it on the edge of a platform (like air moves)

For upB to ledge, you have to roll towards the ledge so that you're as close as possible (not necessary but helps) then when you up B, hold back (towards the ledge) it only works if you are hitting someone, though!

can only be done on first version of the game, as are all the boomer-shot tricks as far as I know.

toss boomerang, hookshot a wall. when boomerang comes back, if you do nothing, you should go flying super high. If you interrupt this with a jump at like, the earliest frames you can, you will swing around all weird. You can do a lot of stuff inside then. Check out Buzz's "hookshot frenzy" video/guide for more info.

Also keep in mind that you and I will be the only competitive Smashers there and one of the other members (*cough*JT*cough*) will berate you for it. You can avoid it by having a "People can choose to play Smash however you want; this is just what I consider more fun," mentality.

it's a trick you can only do in the first version of melee. you toss boomerang, hookshot wall. then on a certain frame when boomer comes back you jump and it will act all funny.

it's related to the link/ylink super jump glitch if you've ever seen it
