This was a test train that Amtrak ran with ABB to study what kind of train to design for the year 2000. Acela was the result of the process and tilt technology was a big part of the decision.
the AEM-7's are doing just fine the HHP8's are performing perfectly
the E60's were replaced just because of their limited speed and the Acela's are doing what they were doing what they were designed to do (for a few minutes in Massachusetts) the update would be wasted congressional money and would only bring us foreign locomotives that perform maybe as well as the AEM-7's and HHP8's
0:23 - 0:26 where along Metro-North's New Haven line was that? [M2s visible in BG]

I bet it'll beat the current Acela Express, and I know trains that can go TURBO than just 150 MPH s.

I wish there was an Amtrak version in HO scale
in any case i do like the arrangement of one power car and a streamlined cab car at the end!

The scary thing is a lot of the stuff featured in that video is still running on NEC to this day.
I wonder when they are going to update that entire line because it needs it, bad.

That's because AEM-7 Toasters are AWESOME, and have stood their ground all these years.
All I know is, my north end between New Haven and here in Boston is looking pretttttttttty good and is running nice and quick.

@HyperActive7 they certainly do not!

what happened to that train?

@imagreatbigman Amtrak went with the bid from Siemens of Germany. Cost was lower as well as the maintenance.

@imagreatbigman This one went back to Sweden where it still sees regular service on our highspeed lines.
