Personell of the VOC was 975.000, that's almost a million. 1780 is the 4th naval war that the dutch lost, never recovered.

Total War is an allrounder and makes everything good but the seafights aren't as realistic as East Inda fights.
So both games have they're advantages.
But I think total war would win because of the land fights and the card

Sweden was in fact one of the greatest powers in northern Europe for about a century or so. But nothing more. Not even the same ballpark as France, Spain and England, but clearly stronger than for example Russia, Denmark-Norway, Poland-Saxony and others at the time..

Sweden and the Dutch are and always have been minor tribes within Europe. The real power has always been Spain, Great Britain and France, get over it.
All these Empires had a tremendous impact on our modern world, the Swedish empire has had none it was an insignificant empire and was largely unimportant just like today.
Besides for any country to be important you had to be part of the Roman empire as a prerequisite.

Mate time to take some lessons in History, the Dutch Republic in the 1600's formed one of the most rich Trade empires in the world, look up the 4 Anglo-Dutch wars, only after the 4th did the Dutch decline and Britain take over, and the Swedish empire was at one point the largest land empire in Europe.

You appear to be lacking knowledge: The Netherlands have had their Empire, and destroyed the British naval forces more than once. We even conquered parts of the country you appear to be residing in, Canada, for a few years. A lot of names in arguably still the most important city in the world, New York, are derived from my mothertongue. For example Harlem (Haarlem), Brooklyn (Breukelen). However, just search wikipedia for Dutch Empire or something like that and you'll see actual facts. Cheers.

new york is actually english. from YORK, one of historys most important citys. jersey is the same. harlem is actually very recent so is not from any other language than the english. and correct me if im wrong, you didnt own a 3rd of the earth where as britain did. face it, the brits owned all, not any more but we did. we had a kingdom where the sun never set!

new york = new amsterdam, and at that time of colonization amsterdam was widely considered capitol, we were the first to settle right there on the point where now lays the hart of new york. the british traded/captured it, and renamed it new york. jersey i dont know, and harlem isnt recent at all, its from the dutch city called haarlem. brooklyn from breukelen, new utrecht from utrecht, bronx derived from the name beer brewer broncks, etc.

ye right u britians know it all so good. let me tell you mate. Hudson a British guy who worked for the Dutch. A order of the Dutch to visit the new world. King of Nassau who married a British princess and was getting the power of Both Britian and Netherlands made ur British empire bigger. So without us Britian never came far.
PS: Harlem comes from the town of Haarlem. A Dutch town close to Amsterdam which is translated from New Haarlem to Harlem

dude the dutch never had australia they were the first europeans to land there but they never officialy claimed it for holland, all they did was call it new holland. most of the places you mentioned eventualy ended up in the hands of the brittish ( india, new york, new guinea, australia, new zealand, sri lanka,carribean sea) as they were much better at buisness and making welth from their colonies. the dutch however were probably better pioneers and explorers then colonials

Tasmania, the island below of australia was discovered by a dutchmen, Abel Tasman. When the dutch were at war with the french, England would 'control' the dutch tradeposts. Only after the war, England never returned most of these trading posts.
