Not one of Michael Mann's best films, but the photography was gorgeous! I have "Collateral" and "Heat" on Blu-Ray and they look absolutely amazing! No one can caprture Mann's style! Michael Mann just creates the most incredible and bad-ass films!

Edward James Olmos as the original Lt. Castillo was vastly better too. Everything about the original was vastly better.

Btw, I know Castillo wasn't in the series pilot, some annoying whiny guy was the Lt, but anyway, I wish the 2006 movie could've done justice to the original. I think I could've done a better job than Michael Mann the last time around! Would've been better if this movie had never been made. Would've been better if they'd just left it with the TV series finale back in 1990.

I'm sorry but this movie sucked!! Good actors but not in this one! This movie was bizarre..."grainy" and poor filming, none of the other "MV" characters are hardly in it, tons of the movie takes place in Cuba not Miami, and half the time you can't tell who the bad guys and good guys are.

The original show offered something that was totally new and captivating...this movie version is just another action flick to add to the billion already out there. The original show kicks this movie's butt!!

Love this film. Yes indeed people do get mixed up with the genre of this film. Its Crime/Drama NOT CRIME/ACTION theres only a few action scenes most of its talk. If this is movie was your first time watching a michael mann film. Go watch HEAT. Then watch this again. Heat is an absolute masterpiece. Epic!!

i think this a good movie, but i agree watch it with the subtitles on because the audio especially from farrell is soft, in my opinion if you're looking for a funny/action movie then watch bad boys II but Miami Vice is geared towards the adult viewer, watch it a few times over and it gets better.

yeah same here, one thing about M.Mann movies is that he forces you to follow the plot closely, their are subtle details that require some attention, some people hate this style because they are not telling you anything, you have to sort of figure it out, thus it is geared for the intelligent viewer. Movies like Bad Boys or disaster flicks like Independence Day or Day after Tomorrow just throw out action after action to entertain.

I had two major problems with the movie:

-They spoke so softlytheir sound department failed miserable making the audio audible. I never understood half of the movie until I got the DVD and turned on the captions.

-The storyline with the mole within the Task Force was never revealed. They pinpointed it to the DC Office, if I'm not mistaken, but right after that, they drop it. No more about it. Blatant oversight.

Other than that, it was a good movie. But those two points docked major points.

Yes FYI, I was born in the '90s. However, if your implying that I know nothing about the TV Show or anything else from the '80s your dead wrong. I liked the movie, sure, it was a stark difference from the TV Show with its Glamour and Glitz setting, but it was still a fabulous movie.

Wow this movie was classic. This definitely is a great film.

Watch the extended version, its great. I also like the theatrical version too. But each versions are different, in which the extended felt more like crime/drama, while the theatrical one felt more like its bad ass and raw.

Miami vice was a great movie. One of the best of 2006. The visuals were great, the music was top notch as well as the action scenes, Jamie foxx had a great performance in the film and Colin Farrell was decent, they also took all of the 80's show elements and modernized it. Michael Mann is a genius and a master, as he makes yet another masterpiece.
