Not trying to be a dick, but I highly suggest working on being smooth. You have the chops, but you need to work on being a little more smooth. Your transitions were incredibly weak.
For solo'ing i wouldnt suggest emg 81's i have two ESP Standards with EMG's. solo'ing sounds best on passive humbuckers, little cleaner and the tube sounds are much more crystal and tubish sounding. this is my own opinion and how it sounds to me. now on the other hand for heavy crunch rythem i highly suggest EMG's. solo's and blues sound best through passive humbuckers just get a great sounding full tube amp and you'll hear the difference, CARVIN V3 baby!...
Hey Inanimate100, I bought 1 of these off ebay and I was wondering if all of them have marking on the pickups that say infinity I think.. because mine doesn't.
I own one in the pewter, I love it. I almost looks greenish in the right light. It has the fixed bridge and a pretty low, slinky action without too muchh fret buzz.
Hate the IFN pu's and am wondering what aftermarket pu's work nicely for a metal sound in the heavy body?
Help!
Even if I could just change the bridge PU, it sounds tinny without a lot of sustain.
@insioni Thanks :D Erm yea it is possible to switch these pups out for EMG 81's, I did that on my RGA321 and it sounds really good, Especially if you want to focus on metal!
hey dude, first off im not tone purist so im not picky, im getting an S series with infinitys, and im not in the financial postion to mess aound with pickup changes, so you think the infinitys are good enough to play clean-crunch/overdrive-high gain? (versitile in other words) i only need to be able to hear what im playing without having to pluck so damn hard to get a good harmonic for example, and nice resonance, thanks in advance, and any tips on how to sweep like that?! i suck at sweeping
Well yea i do think that the infinity pickups are really good for their price. They can handle high gain. The RG321 comes with a 5 way pick-up selector switch so you can get a wide range of clean tones, there are better pups out there but if you don't have the money then these will probably still just be as good. Harmonics also seem to be fairly able to play, and the body of the guitar does vibrate when you play it, indicating that it is well made.
And also concerning the sweeping, basically just start off slow, making sure you hit every note you want to play, if you cant then you are playing too fast. Then as you get better then you can build up speed. I know it's boring to play slowly but once you have got the technique its really rewarding, and learning mew sweeping patterns will become alot easier. Just make sure you get all the notes for a nice clear sound, because alot of people tent to miss out notes, making it sound bad. Cheers
I have an RGA42FM, and the pickups are good if you want a slight overdrive on the clean channel, but if you use overdrive/distortion alot, then these are just for you! If you do save up the cash I would look into some DiMarzio's.
I'm wondering that too. The MSRP for the 321 is $399 and for the 2ex1 it's $599, yet both sell for $300. The 321 comes with a mahogany body though, whereas the 2ex1 comes with a basswood body.
Well, as both are non-prestige models, they probably have the same build quality...which is great considering the prices. I bought the RG321 because i wanted a cheap guitar that i could lay into without worrying about worrying about spoiling it. Personally i have no experience with the 2EX1, but the 321 was great for the price...
All pickups pick up noise. This guy didn't use any noise gate simply. It's perfectly normal that an overdriven guitar will start to buzz when you're not muting the strings.

If I bought one of these I think I would have to take that bridge off and convert it too string through.
drkdvl725 2 years ago
You don't have to. It has string through body bridge.
slavoy11 2 years ago
isnt that impossible to do?
ajax2610 2 years ago
Nah, just takes a well fitted block of wood and some gorilla glue.
Thanks slavoy, I didnt know it has a string through bridge.
drkdvl725 2 years ago
I mean it has strings through body AND FIXED bridge. Sorry for the mistake.
