The Conqueror really wasn't a bad guy after-all. Compared to these things we're as significant as ants. We step on ants all the time and never even notice them. If ants threatened all of existence with their stupidity, I'd snuff them out too.

Well, look back at all the incidents. The crib in elysion can be compared to the throne in undlewalt. rush kept giving off blue vibes while the conqueror kept giving off red vibes. the conqueror was talking about rush to "awaken", much like wagram was trying to get irina to "wake" other remnants. heck, even the previous cutscene when the conqueror said "this was not originally my task", he meant rush was supposed to do it.

sad but true games, shows, or anime, when the main charcter get seriously injured or sacrifices himself it just make it that much better.
