can you help me with sound settings ? i get a very low sound when recording in eye tv 3.53. the only way for videos to make them louder is to go in to imovie 11 and boost the audio to 500. can you help ?

I have a 13 inch Macbook. No PVRs will work with your mac software unless you buy EyeTv which costs around 40 dollars i think. I used to capture with my pc, but when i got a mac, i ran into problems, as it won't immediately work unless you buy EyeTv.

@STL2ATLcda EyeTV is $79, and HDPVR Capture is $30. Take your pick..... There is no software on the HDPVR install disk for OS X. But the device does indeed work just fine.

1) You can not set a game console i.e. Xbox 360 to an HD resolution (HD 720p, 1080i, 1080p) UNLESS you have it connected to an HDTV. FACT!

2) The Hauppauge HD PVR's video resolution is determined and set by the device it's connected and set to. FACT!

If you had watched my videos, you'd know what it takes and how to connect the HD PVR to an SDTV. If you had one, you'd know that it's not possible to record and game without an HDTV.

so i heard that if you record in higher than 720p the files are too big to handle for the computer

The best quality i've seen achieved with the hdpvr.

I know you've made a couple tutorials about setting up the pvr, and the basics of using the software. But I would love to see some type of vid with the settings you use to capture.

Also, one question for ya, I've searched for the answer everywere but couldnt find it. my 360 has the hdmi port and the rhombus lookin cord/vga for me. am i able to use the hdmi to play on my tv, and the rhombus/component to cap at the same time?

AS to your question. Answer is no. Xbox 360 is not capable of outputting via component and HDMI at the same time. If you want to use the HD PVR. You HAVE to use component.
