  • question: i want to loop acoustic guitar and hand drums for live performance. do you know if it is possible to use a roland fc-300 to control the loop start/stop functions of the kaossilator pro, and if not, are you aware of any other way to use this piece of equipment hands-free? cheers...

  • it is working with a tetr4 or something like that for the xy pad controlling?

  • i am about to purchase the Kaos Pro and already have the MicroKorg running into 2 separate guitar amps for stereo... do i need a computer to use the Kaos Pro or can I just connect Korg midi + 1/4 jacks to Kaos rca IN and the Kaos rca OUT jacks to 1/4 phone connections then to the guitar amps? thanks.

  • @Zanthxs Basically...YES. You can connect anything RCA into the Kaossilator PRO. You have the input switch for RCA or mic. That would allow you to route the audio signal from the MicroKorg through the Kaossilator PRO. You CAN use the loop recorder for that.

  • now i have a midi controller cakewalk A500 pro connect with my laptop to live performance, can i use more with Korg Kaossilator, and which is the best way to connect them.

  • hello i know how u make the music but cant seen to use it , how do u save it and make into a song .?

  • hello sir , i will buy the kaossilator pro and the kaoss pad 3 , could you tell me do i need to buy an amplifier or just normal speakers to listen sounds....thanks

  • @icio1511 you''ll need an amp to get enough power.

an other possibility: you can use active speakers where the amp is built in, but it doesn't matter: the signal must be reinforced before you go to your speakers! ;)

  • IF USING RULES FOR BOME"S TRANSLATOR BELOW...

Do NOT check the Stop Processing... checkbox on the Options tab for the

    SaveX

    SaveY

Rules...or put them last and keep them checked...It allows you to just remember the last X,Y location...mostly for the same Y when hitting different notes on the keyboard...you can then control the Y-axis with the modulation wheel

  • I guess you could switch the Bome's Input and Output so it outputs to Channel 1. You would have to also switch the in's and out's for MIDI-OX.

This would allow you to keep the MIDI keyboard and Kaossilator on Channel 1.

So, the MIDI messages come into the PC via USB from the AKAI MPK25

MIDI OX routes the messages to MIDI Yoke Channel 2 (with the above switch)

Bome's listens to Yoke 2 and translates back to Yoke 1

MIDI OX has Yoke 1 as input and routes back to AKAI's output2 for Kaossil

  • CABLE CONNECTIONS --- and MIDI Channels

    1. USB from PC to AKAI MPK25 (or other MIDI keyboard)

    2. Two-Way MIDI cable (Two connections) from AKAI MPK25 (or other MIDI keyboard) to Korg Kaossilator PRO

All the PC-converted MIDI messages get routed back to the AKAI MPK25 and get re-routed to the Kaossilator...over MIDI Channel 2.

Set AKAI MPK25 (or other MIDI keyboard) and Kaossilator Pro to MIDI channel 2

Set Bome's Input to-->In From MIDI Yoke: 1

Output --> Out to MIDI Yoke: 2

  • Can You PLEASE make some tutorial: "How to controll caoss pro by keybord"? Thank's. All the best

  • can you please tell me how you hooked up the midi keyboard controller to the kaossilator pro?

  • It's possible use with a Traktor Kontrol S4?

  • can i use this controller for ableton?

  • hate it how he handle it without feelings :C

  • the main keyword and answer to all is MIDI! that big circular input/outputs on most keyboards/synths/controllers, once you get to know that simple thing you should be good! and eventually you might turn into the FLASHBULB!

  • What are the requirements for this? Does it have built in speakers? Or could I just plug it in and play?

  • QUestion! can we control other synths with it? so the other way around of your setup.. Thanks JF

  • Super:10/10.

  • I have the kaossilator pro and the new midi cont. axiom 25. what cables do I need and where should I plug them? please Help!

    Thank you

    Yehia

  • hi, is it possible to connect a boss rc-50 loop station to the kaossilator pro via midi to have them synchronised? and... if it is, what kind of cables should I use? I'm not very familiar with midi, thanks!!

  • nice

  • 0:40 EPIC PAUSE xD

  • does the kaossilator pro have all of the same sounds as the kaossilaor? Im thinking of upgrading, but dont want to lose the good sounds. thanks.

  • how to record midi with kaossilator on cubase?

  • the pro has midi in/out... isn't that a way to connect a keyboard directly to the pro?

  • Is MIDI and the Red/White the only way for the sound to leave the Kaossilator Pro?

  • uno how theres two kaoss pads, wich would you suggest having?

  • Can anybody ask if it's possible to connect the Kaossilator directly to a keyboard? Please, do it, it hasn't been asked enough times.

  • ya good job. i think this is one of the key features that people are not aware of with the kaossilator. its impossible to hit the correct notes on the touchpad.

  • please mate! how did you connect the controller to the K PRO????

Ive got my midi cable attached to my keystation and my KPRO. And Nothing happens. No sound or midi signal. What on earth does one have to do for it to recognize it???

    PLEASE im desperate!

  • @lucasvigier i know exactly what your talking about, that same thing happened to me i'm running a digital piano with midi into the kaossilator, theirs supposed to be a combination of buttons or knobs that you have to go through to set it up, i still haven't figured it out.

  • My setup currently includes traktor pro, kontrol x1, audio 2 dj (soundcard), and a numark mixtrack as my midi controller. Im wondering is there anyway for the kpro to work in my setup as an effects processor and/or beat machine or do i have to have a pair of cdj's and a mixer? If there is another peice of hardware that would integrate better with my setup please let me know.

  • im look at the kpro to add to my setup. I currently have a kontrol x1, traktor pro and a numark mixtrack for my midi. Is there a possibility that I can use the kpro as an effects processer and a beat creator while running tracks in traktor? or do i have to have an external mixer and cdj's

  • how do you hook up the KPRO to the midi controller?

  • Would you suggest the smaller Kaossilator? Im looking to buy it and can anything input into the smaller one?

  • Comment removed

  • @th3th0mas Nope, the only way to get MIDI keyboard into the KPPro is by using a computer to translate the notes from the keyboard into the controller information the KP uses. Its not a simple task, I do explain it a little more in the full review.

  • @sonicstate

Actually, your wrong, the KPPro translates fine by itself, as for you, th3th0mas, the KPPro is more of a studio "instrument" rather than a full on instrument such as piano or keyboard. So as far as what your first instrument should be, a MIDI keyboard as well as a computer with the right programs on it can set you straight and save you money.

  • Is the kaossilator connected directly to the midi keyboard via USB or are you going through the computer?

Is it possible to connect the kaossilator to a midi controller via MIDI and use the midi controller to send inputs to the the kaossilator?

It's a great machine but I was really hoping not to need a computer!

    thank you!

    jade

  • @thedragonjade Yeah sorry, you need a computer, I translated the incoming notes into the correct controller values to trigger notes on the KP, there was also some fiddling with note off to controller values too. Unfortunately, I sent the KPPro back after the review, so I cant make another tutorial

  • please somebody help me how can u connect the midi axion 61 to koassilator pro

  • Hi. Please help with Kaossilator pro. In what way can i connect midi keyboard on the kaossilator pro .Can i do it without computer. I wont to play music using my keyboard ,not tuchpad. Thanks

  • Hi everyone . How to conect my midi keyboard with Kaossilator? Without PC? It Posibility? I wont to play on my keyboard not with tuchpad from Kaossilator. Thanks you veri much

  • How can you set it up as a midi controller in, say, Reason or Ableton?

  • How do you set it up?

And what wires do you need?

  • Cool but can you control it the other way around- can i use the pad to control my korg micro x sounds? is that possible, if so how, or is it in one of your videos? cheers. djdaveyP

  • how did you control the kaossilator pro through a keyboard? how did you map it out?

  • Comment removed

  • wondering how to get notes to transpose over the keyboard through midipipe

  • Exactly what I wanted to see! I knew it could be controlled externally!

  • Exactly what I wanted to see! I knew it could be controlled externally!

  • What quantise properties does the KaosPro have? can you manipulate the swing as well?

  • please man tell us how u did it with de keyboard PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have a question about the kaossilator pro: can you only play with it linkt on a pc or can you play wtih out a pc?

  • hey sonicstate what cables does the kaossilator need

  • JUst Wonderin Does The Kaossilator have connecting cables to a dj mixing set for live performances?

  • "ooohhhh, thats nice" Dude, dont orgasm over it. lol, nice vid btw. very informative.

  • How did you incorp the sounds of PRO onto keyboard, cause I have the ELECTRIBE and it would great if I can do that with the ELECTRIBE? Shouldnt the MIDI hooked up work for this. I should have mine in a couple of days?

  • yo man can you connect the controller to the kaoss ad with the USB?

  • OH VERY NICE THE MIDI CONTROL FOR SYNTHS REALLY COOL

i think its my futur toy :D

  • @pabalino2008 Yes you can plug a guitar into the K Pro.

  • Hi! Really nice video!!

Is it possible to play it in 7/4, 3/4 or 5/4?

    Thanks in advance!

  • @ZenrathGoesRawr The squares set up a basic parameter of your range of notes. I've never messed with the Kaossilator Pro, but as with the KP3 it's quite glitchy on notes between the squares. They're fun devices but if you're going for actual note structure (and not guesstimations on what you are trying to play) then your best bet would be controlling via midi for recording as in the video from what I've gathered.

  • I'm so fucking confused based on what I've heard. How do you know where the notes are on it? People have been telling me the squares have nothing to do with the notes. If that's true then how can I know where the notes are and what the fuck are the squares for? o.O

  • at home, i have an amp, a microkorg XL, and a mini kp. i dont have any loop software, a computer interface (I have been looking) or a drum beat maker (right word choice? lol). If i invested my money into a kaossilator pro, will i have all of those things? like will i be able to finally have something to record my sounds on? I'd really like to know so please comment. p.s. I'm new at this. :p

  • you're annoying!!

  • Thanks for the information good stuff, although I need assistiance connecting the Kaossilator Pro to Cubase 5. I would like to record loops ect into a cubase track via the usb connection for remixes, recordings. Any suggestion on how to do this. Thanks Bernie

  • Would you demonstrate the difference between MIDI and line level recording?

    Keep up the great work!

  • When the kaossilator manual says when sending midi to the kaossilator, CC#92 is pad touch. Does a value of 127 correspond to touch and 0 is not touch, or does it use the full range? Also, to control the kaossilator via midi, do the control changes have to be sent in a specific order? eg. (x, y, touch) -> CC#'s (12, 13, 92)

  • i'm confused about the midi. will it send midi note data out into say ableton? allowing me to input note data form the xy pad? sorry if this question is really obvious...cheers.

  • @MrNedRush i found with the old KP2 the XY pad sent midi control data, so where my finger was on the pad, the assigned XY pad, knob, or whatever on ableton followed perftectly. im sure this new one will be even better. hope i've been a help

  • please how do you play notes of the kaossilator with the keyboards.

what is the trick, exactly please, please!!

  • @jakomaron see our full review - you can get to it from our channel

  • @sonicstate I cant find the place where it tells us how help me please :o thx

  • @sonicstate I picked one up, I'm trying to do the opposite of what you did here.... I want to use the kaossilator to play other synths using the pad...is this possible???

  • @jakomaron It can't be done straight away from the kaossilator pro. He maps it through the computer.

  • is it possible to contol the quantisation?? 16th 8th or off?

  • did you need a midi note to cc value converter to play the kaosscilator pro with a midi keyboard?

  • @smokedroblunts

yep that's true. You can usr MIDI ox for the pc to convert the signal to cc,

  • Comment removed

  • I went to some shops and asked if it was possible to plug-in a keyboard to the kaossilator pro and they said no!but in this video you are able to do it, how and what is the set up for this function?

    thanks

  • @ourvioletview same question!

  • uhm 2 questions ...

can you change the parameters of the synth sounds like cut off ect?

and can you sample a sound a play it on the kaossilator?

    thanks for the answer ^^

  • this may sound like a retard question, but whats the main difference between this and the kp3?

  • the kp3 modifies sound, the kaossilator makes it

  • Search Kaossilator Pro vs KP3 into YouTube.

  • @dhmacko91

Kp3 is an effects proccesor and sampler used to MANIPULATE sound... Kaossilator pro a synthesyzer and sampler, used to GENERATE sound... hope this clears things up.... although you prolly looked up more videos telling you that anyways...... :)

  • The KP3 is a Controller, It controls gain, wave, etc. The KP3 just records loops and such, usually from outer sources. The KPro is a Synthesizer, it creates sounds and also records loops, both externally and internally. They are quite similar, but they are also quite different. Hope that answers your question! :D

  • To the person who asked about battery power: sorry - I hit remove instead of reply - and the answer is no - its mains powered.

  • how easy is it to use. can someone that has never used a kaossilatr use it or would they feel out of there depth

  • whats the polyphony?

  • Monophonic - see my full review

  • For a moment, I thought I have heard Orbital. I am looking forward to more reviews of this piece of gear, thank you.

    D...........:)

  • maybe it's a dumb question but can I plug my electric guitar with effect [pandora or boss micro br for example] into this stuff ?

  • @barwoda Yeah using RCA or the mic audio jack.

  • Yes but through a mixer so as to sample whatever sound or riff you want it to loop.

  • whats the main difference between this and the kp3?

  • kaossilator pro creates sounds, its a synthesizer. kp3 doesnt create sound, its a sampler, and process effects.

  • @nerocrux thanks man

  • i want one <3

    release in german????

  • Hi Flippy, der soll wohl gegen Ende März erhältlich sein. Ich werde ihn mir auf der Musikmesse mal näher anschauen.

    Gruß

  • danke

    sehr interessantes gerät :)

  • good work...

i love my kaossilator, and im going to buy this baby to! the midi conection was a very nice surprise!

  • Comment removed

  • i'll buy it as soon as I can

  • Common Man! your like the first person to have one and they are out in a couple weeks, you gots to give us a review on it or at least a demo of some of the functions and features!

  • @JaegunnVids I have, posted it today.

  • AWESOME!

sorry to hassle you about it,

just a bit excited for it :)

  • Any idea of when your review is going to be on here?

  • can you manipulate the samples you record into it?

Can it manipulate live sound with an instrument or the mic while a signal is being sent through it (not a recorded one)?

what I would really like to see is if you can manipulate live sounds like the kp3 It would be awesome if I didn't have to have it and the KP3 on stage/ on tour at the same time as the kaossilator pro.

  • yo man i dont know what to get the kp3 or the kaossilator pro. please tell me the pros and cons for each device please

  • do you think you could review the m audio trigger finger?

  • i have a kp3 and wants this sooo bad

  • I pre-ordered :D!

    cannot wait! :D

  • I saw this movie and decided purchase.

  • Can you manipulate and play everything you sample on the pad? im dying for the review

  • Lets just get on with the review!!! And please do explain how you are using a key board to play the Kaossilator. But I think you guys should be ready for a review and solid demo by now ;)

  • the magic of MIDI

  • that iooks like a lot of fun!!

  • if u sell it i take it.. : say ur price

  • Did the unit come with a power cord included, and can this model also run off of batteries?

  • Comment removed

  • @Kaossilation it could work, if you connect it to a pc and then to the kaossilator. Basically, let's say that the USB A will not enter in the USB in of the kaossilator pro.

  • well if its just the cable... there might be a mini USB to USB B or whatever....

well, lets see - damn, can't wait

  • @Kaossilation i was just making an easy explanation. It won't work because the usb connection in both are from external devices to connect to a pc. So, the best explanation i could give you is that they wont recognize each other.

  • hey can you record vocals into the device?

  • @sonndav1 Yes! BOMB DIGGITY

  • Really interesting. Thanks alot for the video.

  • Can you record your kaossilator stuff into a computer, and make them into loops or something, then stack, stretch, etc to make a song?

  • you can record anything with the line out. or you use the sd card to store the single loops.

  • whish they would make a higher quality version with balanced TRS in and outs.

I some times use the kp3 for effects in a track but the un-balaced inputs and outputs alway corse more troble than it's worth.

Then some times I have to give up on using it for the particular track part (Not with out a fight of corse).

Maybe a bigger, more tweakable version or something.

    Maybe even a adat interface....

  • Balanced is not "higher quality" than unbalanced audio. Unbalanced is appropriate and just as good for short cable run from line level signals, and unbalanced can be converted to balanced for long cable runs where common mode interference rejection is useful to keep the signal clean. Balanced signals do not improve the audio quality - they only help to preserve the quality in situations where interference is a problem, particularly long runs of high impedance mic level signals. Otherwise not.

  • i've got a suggestion 4 u - load some samples in wav or aiff format and make a short demo with them :)

  • I realy need to know Does it have the same functions as the KP3 plus the Kaossilators ones ????

  • @HExtab12 no, it is the opposite, you have aprox. 185 "synth" programs and 15 effects. It can loop and has audio in, and you can use the external control mode the same way as the KP3 (remember, i don't have the thing, i just read the specs in korg website and saw all the videos in youtube :) )

  • i find the korg pad stuff too gimiky and a bit of a toy

  • I too am looking forward to the full review.

This little intro/teaser left me a bit baffled however.

Is it not defeating the object somewhat to use it as a midi sound module, when the XY pad is largely the point of the Kaossilator?

Unless perhaps it was simply to demonstrate the previously absent midi functions of the original..

Anyway, I can't wait to see more of it :)

  • Well yes, but now it has more serious looping and MIDI io, I thought it would be cool to be able to play it with more accuracy

  • Nick, it would be great if you could compare the looper in this one with the KP3, since i am currently looking for a looper and can´t decide if i want a KP3 or this one, or something completely different (Looperlative e.g.).

    Thank you, Tom

  • Nick, did kent service your jupe 6, or is it there for a mix jobbbie later?

  • @armalyte No it didnt need servicing. I fired it up to see if it worked, I'm probably going to sell it.

  • great, can't wait for the full review - can't wait to get one! will the nanopad work on the midi in?

is there a clock in the kpro?because you used the keyboard clock i I guess not. Hm... well, it should be no problem to take one loop bank just for a click...

  • the nano pad will not work with this

  • do the sounds respond to velocity when played via a midi keyboard when recording?

also any sign of an editor for the sounds in the kaossilator pro or is it just presets only?

  • This for me was the most exciting thing I saw at Namm. Glad to see that you can play the sounds via midi. Always missed that from the original. I think I will be purchasing a Kaossillator Pro

  • I'd also love to hear about it's MIDI capabilities.

    (as a MIDI signal source)

    Thanks!

  • JP6 in the background <3333333

Now my question: Can I use the kaossilator pro as a midi controller?

and also, I use an oxygen 61 (v3), it has no midi ports, can I hook it up to the kaossilator pro via USB?

  • No to the Oxy V3 as midi controller, Unless there is a USB/MIDI conversion somewhere in between it and the KPPro

  • Korg demonstrated sampling on the Kaossilator Pro at NAMM, not only of internal sounds but of external audio too. While it's monophonic, it has chord programs.

  • I'm sure you are right, I've not got round to checking that out yet, but will do next week

  • Nice video, I can't wait for the review =)

  • when you control it via midi controller does it automatically assign the note to the lowest value on the y-axis of the kaossilator, or the highest, or somewhere in the middle? the reason i ask is for using some of the effects like a12, where the y-axis doesn't control the volume , but the pitch of a separate note altogether.

  • No, the notes and all X/Y controls are handled by controller data, no notes. Notes are used to trigger switch loops 1-4 on/off.

You have to do some MIDI finagling to get notes to play the pitch. I'll show how in review.

  • this looks gorgeous.

    however.

part of my lurve for the ko-1is that i can - and frequenly do - carry it in my coat pocket. that plus my mini nokia speakers are ideal for waits at busstops and trainstations.

and this unit - as lovely as it seems - loses that portability.

doesnt mean to say i dont want one, though ;)

look forward to your full review later (as i always do)
