ILS Approach to KLAX

KLAX is Los Angeles, CA, USA. It's an ILS, you can hear the clearance in the first few seconds into the video.

it´s a ils cat1(DA 200ra,RVR 1800ft) exactly at minimums the runway was perfectly visible,i think runway lights are not necesary until you have the ils active,what happend if runway lighting is inoperative?

Don't think the runway lights were necessary. Visual flight was achieved before the minimums and I didn't hear the autopilot disconnect so it may well have been an autoland. Even if it wasn't there was still plenty of time to get it all together manually.

@BaronBoy100 necessary no, but they would have been very useful in identifying the runway (we did that at aprox 500f) the rain and fog made it difficult. Airport SOPs mandate runway lighting when vis is below 3sm ...and no, it wasnt an autoland.

No vuelo 737-800, pero todos los aviones boeing son muy similares, asi que debiera estar en el overhead panel al centro. Segunda o tercera fila desde adelante. Slds.

I didn't think wipers would be necessary at the speed they're going, not until they slow down on the runway.

It is true. In the U.S., at some airports, the lights are used at a minimum. Don't ask me why, but I think they don't want a high electric bill. Nice approach guys.

Eso si estuvo escalofriante aterrizar en una aproximacion ILS con la pista sin luces,huauuuuuuuu,debe ser que los gringos le tienen mucha confianza al ILS pero nada es 10o%,felicitacions a los pilotos de ese vuelo.

No lo sé, pero en USA muchas veces usan lo mínimo. Ahora recién en JFK tuvimos que hacer una aproximacion visual por estar malo el ILS....y es invierno en New York!
