it´s a ils cat1(DA 200ra,RVR 1800ft) exactly at minimums the runway was perfectly visible,i think runway lights are not necesary until you have the ils active, what happend if runway lighting is inoperative?
Congratulations captain, your life is my dream...fly for food!!! =)
Don't think the runway lights were necessary. Visual flight was achieved before the minimums and I didn't hear the autopilot disconnect so it may well have been an autoland. Even if it wasn't there was still plenty of time to get it all together manually.
@BaronBoy100 necessary no, but they would have been very useful in identifying the runway (we did that at aprox 500f) the rain and fog made it difficult. Airport SOPs mandate runway lighting when vis is below 3sm ...and no, it wasnt an autoland.
It is true. In the U.S., at some airports, the lights are used at a minimum. Don't ask me why, but I think they don't want a high electric bill. Nice approach guys.
Where the hell are the approach lights??? Well it is California - the state that doesn't have the money to pay its electricity bill!!!

LAN Pilots do the real thing, other ones just cry to the ATC
morgunovsky 2 years ago
The only pilots doin' the real thing are conventional gear pilots. Tricycles are for kids.

I didn't think wipers would be necessary at the speed they're going, not until they slow down on the runway.
n310ea 4 years ago
those wipers are quite annoying, so we try not to use them unless its totally necessary.
cmarentis 4 years ago
i can tell lol. and cant you only use them at a certain airspeed?
gezelle007 4 years ago
no...theres no airspeed limitation for those ;)
