The whole Boston area music scene that was lamb o, shadows fall, kill switch,.... They hit huge crowds and I love all them bands.... But like the Seattle bands, to me just slowly faded away and got boring. There are way too many bands out there that sound the same..... there's nothing really impressive and jawdropping right now.

I don't think you quite grasp what Gamerdad was saying. He was saying that metal nowdays is all about who can do a solo faster. The notes melding into each other at head melting speed. Bands of old had far supirior guitar skills, like Dime. To them playing the instrument was like a public sex act. Making the guitar moan to the artful fingering these Gods or rock, with skill, could coax out of them. These new metal thrash bands, a guitar is just a thing that makes noise.

The original concept was th have Phil Anselmo duet with David Allen Coe but Phil bowed out cuz Pantera just came off the Vulgar tour and he was too burned out to do any recording at the time. So Dime and Vinny said fuck it and did it themselves.
