The KR500 two-stroke square-four was raced in the grands prix in the early-mid 1980s by their four-time world champion (2 x 250cc, 2 x 350cc titles) Kork Ballington.
@martynpank - HI ! google Kawasaki KR 500 - if I correctly recall this 4 cyl. 2 stroke was raced in the WCT in 79/80 or so: Gregg Hansford and R.Haslam did
ride it with good results all in all.
Sorry I was convinced they also had a 750 on the same tech.guideline....
Got your message man, Thats one weird ass engine :). I'm like 14 and i learned a whole lot this last summer. I had a suzuki GS300L. fucking impossible to find parts for, i loved the look of the bike though. Good job, i just didn't understand how those engines worked really.
it sounds absolutely right for a 3 cylinder 2 stroke air cooled engine and a 2 stroke burns oil, the lubrication of the engine is not nia oil galeriesas in 4 stroke's pressurised system but as a mist in the crankcase, which also happens to be the induction of the engine, the oil is introduced either in the fuel or by being sprayed sepperately in the crankcase
merci beaucoup pour cette video qui m'a rappelé un bien beau G.P. de France auquel j'ai assisté sur ce même circuit en 1972. Avec un duel Read / Ago absolument inoubliable, délirant.
thanks a lot for the memory. This footage remembered me that I was in the public of the French G.P. of Charade in 1972. Great fight Read Vs. Ago, what a thrill...
That's my dream bike, exactly the way it was raced that season with those exact decals I remember going to the pits at Ontario motor speed way (LA), seeing Yuvon & Nixon zipping up their green leathers to go practice. I was in high school & I painted a portrait of Gary & Yuvon on that very bike. I was going to give it to them at the next race, but I never saw them again. 30 years later my friend still has that painting and hope I can have them sign it some day.
As a matter of fact I do, I live in near Seattle WA (Mercer Island), and my friend has the painting in L.A. hanged in his office. I'm going to have him e-mail me a picture and I'll e-mail to you. As a matter of fact that painting is now over 36 years old. I don't know how to post a picture on this site so it would be great if you could advise how best to do it. Are you the owner of this bike? TKS Dan
Hey Brainiac the bike is clearly running on all 3, one pipe smoking-probably middle cylinder and the hissing/rattle would be the dry clutch. It's a Cool bike.....
Yummo !!!!! A REAL mans bike. Did you race it, in it's day, or have you recently purchased it? It looks great, and reminds me of when I was a kid. Do you remember the 'Green Meanies' from the early 70's?
What is that? A race model? Way too good man!

@martynpank - well .may be I'm messing up with the 500 GP engines by Kawa.
For sure they tested a 2 stroke 4 cyl. but possibly it was a 500 and not a 750.

indigoblue555- If there was such a thing, I would love to know about it! If you find more info, let me know! Cheers Buddy!

Sounded very unhealthy burns alot of oil. i think she needs new rings and maybe an new set of points or coils since it wasnt firing on one cylinder
