I agree that libertarians should take a more pro-active approach. The LP needs a marketing plan to work on our image and put us in a position that will allow us to appeal to mainstream USA. We are largely perceived as lunatics, conspiracy theorists, pot smokers, anti-establishment, etc.. My fear is that RP's efforts will be in vain... no change in the GOP as it will continue leaning to the center and no new supporters for the LP. LP needs much more than 3-4% to be taken seriously.

Obaid, you have made many good points. I was never of the opinion that RP would get the GOP nomination. However, a better share of electoral votes would have given him leverage on the GOP. As time progresses there are few differences between democrats and republicans. McCain is a prime example as he is more of a centrist than a republican... as RP is more libertarian than republican. RP should run as an independent/LP. The GOP has lost its way... they need to sit it out for 4 and reflect.

I like hearing your points of view, but I do not believe any threats or bribes were made. Giuliani was predicted to do well before the primaries, but the jig was up on him, and this shown in his number of actual votes. It must have been humiliating to do so poorly, and with little chance of gaining ground, he dropped out. Romney was financing a lot of his campaign with his own money. He had spent over 40 million and was trailing McCain like 3 to 1 in delegates. I think he just cut his losses.

The dollar will begin to devalue as drug lords and foreign oil companies (Valenzuela) will demand payment in Euros instead of greenbacks
