I'm Indian, and I think Indians need to go and look in the mirror... We look like Monkeys, yet for some reason we consider "Bastard" more offensive than "Monkey"... This is why I left India, to get away from all the ignorance, discrimination and plain lack of humility...
indians are very racist. i had lot of difficulty to live in india since iam north east indian. i don't know why our state is in india, it should be either indepedent or be with china. atleast we won't face racism there. they look down on us like lower race. i hate them. i found south indian, goan, oriya and bengalis are less racist people from india.
indian discriminate among them selfs in color ,region and religion .And think them selfs to be of higher cast. I guess they did not learn any thing from 1 century years of British rule in their country and the sick "Divide and Rule " policy.
I am Indian, and I have come to the conclusion that Indians are not capable of ruling themselves. They need a foreign government to spoonfeed them ethics, equality and functionality without corruption...
I agree with India's Health Minister. White Europeans and White Americans love homosexuality and they love having sex with animals. Homosexuality is a "mental illness", and its victims need mental health treatment, and now.
Two men should not have sex in the anus, nor two women licking on each other. The anus's purpose is to release waste from the body. The butt hole is not meant to have a penis or other foreign objects inserted into it for sexual pleasure, and the vagina is for procreation.
And it's amazing because most Indians (not all) are ugly not just in their character, but their physical appearance as well... Maybe "monkey" isn't offensive in India because most Indians look like monkeys??? I mean they should go and look in the mirror. India is one of the most corrupt democracies on the planet, its overpopulated, diseased, backward, poor, superstitious, Ignorant and Discriminative...
They of the most arrogant people on the planet... Very sad...
Yes Indians are racist, I know it cuz I am one. But the level of racism is different. We are not blatantly racist (except for Symonds incident). However, every group of people are racist.
indians r racist, sexist and dont understand it is bad as its a way of life here.matrimonial ads irrespective of hindu, muslim, sikh, christian look for " slim, fair, beautiful girl" as marrying brown girls will give them brown babies and who the hell will want that.
well you can deny that calling a dark skinned person a "monkey" is derogatory but don't be surprised when the same 7 foot black guy puts you through a plate glass window for being a racist prick...
you can paint it up however you want, but there are words that don't belong in civil conversation.
Indians are the worst racists. Calling a black guy a 'monkey' and yet denying racism? Only Indians can come out with a lie/denial like this. The problem is they have been used to their own internal racism for centuries - kept a large section of Indians as untouchables - and many Indians have no qualms about it. And they have no qualms about their racism against 'others' as well. If any Indian complains about racism in the west just remind him about dalits.
So let me get this straight.......the guy says bastard is offensive and monkey is not? Monkey has been used to denegrate a black cricketer. Its therefore offensive in that context.
Aussies use bastard loosley......i might say "ya silly bastard" to a friend. Yes.....cultural differences but calling the cricketer a monkey was clearly intended to offend.
@maccanaut "Aussies use bastard loosley" I know that. I've been to Australia. But in many places in the world, calling someone a bastard is a serious offence. Calling someone a 'monkey' is offensive in some places. Not in others. There are countries which have had practically no interaction with black people and for them, calling a black person, or anyone else for that matter, a monkey is not racist.
@Imrankniazi "But in many places in the world, calling someone a bastard is a serious offence. Calling someone a 'monkey' is offensive in some places. Not in others"
----- so u agree that calling someone a monkey can be offensive and considered racist in some places. Therefore....it should cease. Racism is a form of discrimination and those that play the racist card are defending themselves against discrimination. This is an equal right in any part of the world and should be respected.
I'm told all the time, that Australians are some of the most racist people in the world and from watching this video and reading the comments I guess Indians are as well. So this just seems a case of the bully getting a taste of their own medicine.
So calling a black man a monkey is not racist!!! Then calling a Indian a Koelie (coolie) what we call you Indians in Holland is not racist. Thanks, that's how I will respond when a Koelie tries wants to open his mouth:-)
@amster2007dam You are missing the whole point, fellow! Racist slangs/terms are dependent on two perspectives - the instigators' and the victim's.
That's why viewing things in context is very important. You can call me coolie all you like, but since I am an engineer, I would just laugh away at that. Words are only as offensive as you let them be. Do you expect me to retaliate by calling you a 'honkey'? I mean seriously, grow up, son! See the world and quite being a toad in a well.
@Imrankniazi I think YOU are missing the point! I have never called a black (wo)man a moneky or an Indian (wo)man a coolie! I am just responding to the clip and the comments made here. I think it is funny to see how people get angry when they are discriminated but then very easily discriminate somebody else!
Here in Holland the people don't care if you are an engineer or a lawyer! They don't care which caste you belong to. To THEM you are just a coolie. I am sorry!
@amster2007dam You still don't get it. Calling someone a monkey is not a racial insult in many parts of the world. Certainly not in south-east and East-Asia. Even parents sometime ask their kids to "stop monkeying around".
Well, I've been living in Holland for a couple of years now and haven't been called a 'coolie' so far. I don't give a damn either way.
@Imrankniazi Hahhahaa...now you are being realy silly. If a white person, for instance, calls a Indian (wo)man a monkey....all hell would break loose. You know it and I know it!!! So I could call any Indian man or woman I happen to come across a monkey, hahahha!!?? If not...why!?
They may have never called you a coolie to your face. But beleive me, when they speak about you when you are not around.....coolie is the name you go by! Again not my manner of speaking. But that's just the way it is!
@amster2007dam "So I could call any Indian man or woman I happen to come across a monkey, hahahha!!??" Sure, go ahead :-)
I don't know what people call me behind my back. Speaking for me personally, if you come down to Rotterdam and call me a 'coolie', most likely I'd have a good laugh about it and then you and I can share a Heineken! As I said before, insults become insults only when you acknowledge them as such. Cheers, buddy!
@amster2007dam It's rather funny that people who started the trans-Atlantic slave trade are talkign about racism.. Pot..kettle..black?? Haha
My ancestors were not the ones who captured and sold South African slaves. Clearly understanding cultural and race-related matters are not your domain. So, stay away from issues that you have zero comprehension of.
@Imrankniazi I didn't start anything! But even if I would have! Does that mean that I can't recognize racism when I see it!!?? I will let you know how your fellow Indian countrymen will respond to me calling them a monkey
@amster2007dam What I am saying is you are speaking about an issue with zero background and understanding. How many times have you been to India and talked with the people there about social issues? What knowledge do you have about that part of the world except what the mainstream media feeds you? I can accept informed comments on the issue. Yours, sir, clearly don't fall in that category.
@Imrankniazi What do you know about my background!?? NOTHING!!! I have been to India 4 times. I saw \and spoke to the Dalits. That something Indians can be REALLY PROUD OFF! I am sorry but that whole system is PURE IGNORANCE!!!This doesn't mean that I know everything...but I do recognize mistreatment when I see it!
Any normal grown (wo)man would understand that calling a black (wo)man a moneky, especially when you take history into account, is degrading, humiliating and racist!
@amster2007dam "especially when you take history into account" Who created that history - your forefathers or mine? You treated them like property, never mind calling them as monkeys.
And I've never called any Black person a monkey, nor would I ever. I was just putting in persepective what the cricketer here said. Clearly, you've missed the point and as an 'oh-so-concerned' Westerner started bashing other countries. Typical, shall we say?
@Imrankniazi Shall we start talking about the way the lowest caste people in India are being treated AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME!!!! Please get of your high horse man, hahahahaha!
@amster2007dam If you intend to discuss the caste issue, then I would suggest you talk with a Hindu. I am not one!
And seriously, why do you give a damn about how people are treated in India? How are they related to you? Drink your beer, enjoy your life, fuck your red-light professionals for € 50 and enjoy the free health-care, free education and other benefits that your nation provides. Why do you Westerners need to play this 'holier-than-thou' game is beyond me?
@Imrankniazi In your world you should only give a damn about the people you are related to!!!??? It has nothing to do with " holier-than-thou" but with RESPECT! HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPECT. The fact that I have to explain that to you, realy scarces me!
I don't drink any alcohol and I have never been to a prostitute. That's something for the millions of TOURISTS that come to Holland. If you have lived here for a couple of years, you would know that!
@amster2007dam "HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPECT" Wow..heavy words coming from someone whose ancestors started the biggest slave trade known to mankind. Ok, if you are so keen on weeding evil out of society, why don't you start closer to base? After all, charity begins at home, doesn't it?
Go out in the streets and protest against the smuggling of women to Amsterdam for sex-trade. You would know that the women are hauled in majorly from Eastern Europe by the mafia. So, will you fight that, sir?
@Imrankniazi So you can't be against murder because your father was a murderer. That must be Indian logic, hahahaha! Yep HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPECT. So beacuse your forefathers mistreated either the Hindus, Sikhs or Moslims, you don't have the right to talk about human rights and respect. Are you realy an engineer!? How do you even dare to compare Holland to India with regards to the standard of living, human rights and respect. Shall we talk about prostitutes in india! Even child prostitution!
@amster2007 Did I compare standards of living? My only point was there are issues closer home to consider before passing judgements about others. It is the White Supremacist in you speaking, not the reformist.
As for child prostitutes, I cannot solve every problem in the world and as long as demand will be there, there would be supply. You are the one poking your nose here in a matter unrelated to you or your nation. The cricketers involved were an INDIAN and an AUSTRALIAN. No Dutch there!
@Imrankniazi Doesn't prostitution have anything to do with the standard of living!? Ask the child prostitutes in India! My point is, why should your compassion for other people stop at a border!? So I could never support or feel compassion for a muslim, hindu, sikh or atheist for that matter because they don't live in the same geographical area as I do!?? Come on man, you have a very strange logic my friend. (I hope) Your parents didn't raise you like that!!
@amster2007dam All right..We've already diverted enough in the debate. This video was about whether or not the Indian called the coloured Aussie a monkey or not and whether he meant it as a racial slur.
Read my comment posted under tarpumpphilips (4 months ago) and see my point. I had explained how the misunderstanding could have taken place.
@amster2007dam Well, you are neither Black nor Indian, so I have no clue why you even got involved in the first place. When a Dutch man gets 'racially abused' in India, then we can hear your opinion. Right now, you just look like an out-of-place White supremacist who is ready to criticise any eastern nation at the slightest pretext. How much of this is about your inflated ego than about HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPECT?
@Imrankniazi How do you know that I am not black!?? How do you know that I am not a Suriname/Dutch Indian!? We have people of all kinds of skincolour in Holland! I thought you had been to Holland! It says a lot that in your mind every Dutch man is white! I am sorry but your reasoning and lack of knowledge of Holland makes me also beleive that you lied about being an engineer! Not that that is anything special. YOU OR I are NOTHING MORE OR LESS(!) then a homeless junky prostitute on the street!!!
@amster2007dam I was going by stats here. I admit I may have been wrong and you could be a Black/Surinamese. But seriously, what percentage of Holland's population are non-Whites? There are about 250,000 Surinamese if my memory serves me right. What percentage is that of 16.5 million?
Regardless, my original point was you are not here to show compassion, but to talk down on that nation. You are still ti understand the basis of my argument. Read my comment (under tarpumpphilips) 4 months ago.
@Imrankniazi I, or my (grand-)parents could be from Holland, the Antilles, Suriname, Indonesia, Israel, Africa any other European country or anywhere else, for that matter! If my memory serves my right....hahahhahaha! Wikipedia you mean...hahaha:-) I am not talking down to India. It was just disgracefull and dumb what that player and the audience did! Oh my God....if a (group of) white person(s) had done that! You don't have to defend " your people" when they do something wrong!!!
@amster2007dam "We have people of all kinds of skincolour in Holland! " Statistics wasn't your favourite subject in high school, was it? If I say I am an Indian and you talked about the caste system automatically meant you assumed I am a Hindu.
There are 78-80% Hindus in India. Are there at least that many (if not more) White Dutch in Holland for me to make a similar assumption?
@Imrankniazi True, true! But again you don't know if I am a yellow, brown, red, black or white Dutch man or woman! And it has nothing to do with the subject. The fact that I live or might live in Holland has nothing to do with the subject either. You don't know if I am a muslim, christian, jew, hindu, sikh, athist or anything else. Again...it doesn't matter for the subject.
CALLING A BLACK MAN A MONKEY IS HUMILIATING, DEGRADING AND RACIST! AND YOU KNOW THAT!!!
@amster2007dam "So you can't be against murder because your father was a murderer."
If you are really against your murdere father, then disassociate with him. In this case, detach yourself from your culture and leave this land built on Indonesian, South African and Surinamese blood and tears. The privilege of calling yourself a '1st world nation' has come at the cost of 8-10 generations of people in those countries. If you are assuming a morally high ground, then relinquish all this.
@Imrankniazi in todays world if u offend someone simply because they perceive ur comments as being intended to lower their race or class, then it is called racism. In my opinion, the so called victims are often just simply incapable of viewing it any other way, regardless.
There were 4 uni students on a variety show here portraying the Jackson 5. They wore black make up and the world brands it as racist. FFS!! MJ was black and viewers need to identify with the character being portrayed.
this so called expert dumb indian can't admit calling a african descent a monkey would be racist. Its like calling a indian a curry but this dumb ass doesn't understand cause he is indian and wants to defend indians. This is not a professional he is not impartial, now imagine the normal indians who aren't professionals..
I am sure that harbajahn Singh did not use teh term to Andrew Symonds in a "worship" way. the fact that monkeys are worshipped in India is unimportant, the context in which the term was used is what is important and relevant. Mr. Singh meant to use the term in a hurtful way and there is no defense for him using th eterm.
@Imrankniazi i agree with every word of your comment. and indians are fuckin racist. caste system is the biggest proof. and i would've never thought of the " maa+ki" thing. good call mate
@Imrankniazi and on another video they had a sign said monkey! because of the black guy playing a game of cricket. the whole crowed chanted monkey!
.
and you said monkey is not offensive to African decent will curry is not offensive in America curry is what you put on your food.. so hi curry! hi curry! hi curry!
@loveallhappiness Come on, is curry suppossed to be offensive? I find it humourous. You can say that as many times as you like. Besides I explained below what some other possibilites could be. You seem to have a very myopic view on different cultures. What is offensive in one culture may be completely harmless in another. Just like calling a 'monkey' is offensive for a Black (I respect that), but it is commonly used as a taunt in many other places in the world. Travel more and see the world!
@Imrankniazi you are in denial... in on another video india have lots of commercial telling people that are dark that they will have a better life and get to be a bollywood star if they bleach and lighten their skin.
.
and on another video the more than 20 upper cast thug beat and kill in front of india police a lower class man.. and the police did not help that man he later die.. and Mahatma Gandhi was for the cast system and call black people in South African lower than animals.
@loveallhappiness I have lived 21 years on my life in that country and excuse me if I think I know my nation a little better than you. If Bollywood is your ideal about India, then you need to expand your knowledge base. And CASTEISM and RACISM are two completely different issues. Caste system is not relevant to this discussion. Gandhi was a racist and I have never had a good opinion of the man as a politician or as a person. Since when has Gandhi become the mirror to every Indian's true nature?
@Imrankniazi let me tell you something i was volunteering at a convect for 4 month and the nuns from indian was treating the poor like crap and the nuns from america respected the poor.
.
my friends and my sister went to indian and they say that they have a bad caste system and your people need to stop being in denial...
.
your people will grow spiritually if you all open your eyes for the truth.. are you in a lower caste system? no--- so you are in denial.
@loveallhappiness "are you in a lower caste system?" Well, I belong to no caste, because I am not a Hindu, in the first place. Of course, I know the social evils in India; when did I ever deny it? But, as I said before, you are mixing up 2 completely different issues - casteism and racism. This video discussed racism and the issue of casteism in Indian society is not of relevance in this context.
"your people will grow spiritually if you all open your eyes for the truth" Ah,thank you so much.
@Imrankniazi your people is very racist and you are in denial... your people have commercial that have cream to make you white plus in those commercial it said you will not be happy unless you are white.
.
and not only 10 people in the stand call the man a monkey the whole stand did... stop the bull you are in denial... it is sad.. i also saw on utube that police beat up this five year old girl because she was a dark skin indian.. they claim otherwise.. but we don't believe.
@loveallhappiness Whatever honey. If that lets you sleep well at night! So far, I've understood one things:-
a) Racism b) Casteism and c) Cultural preferentialism are three SEPERATE issues and you seem to have an understanding of none of them. I admit that Indians are quite racist, but not anymore than French or southern Europeans and certainly not even close to the Japanese. As for the other two issues, let's just say that they are evil or not depending on how you look at them.
@loveallhappiness Do you want to merely accuse me and India or hear out my point of view as well? Just let me know when you've made a decision. In the meantime, I suggest you read my comment listed right under tarpumpphilips' that was made 4 months ago.
@loveallhappiness "because of the black guy playing a game of cricket. the whole crowed chanted monkey!"
The West Indian team has been coming to India over the last 5 decades. Same with Zimbabwe, which has had majority black players in recent times. I've never heard of players being called as monkeys because of their skin colour.
As far as Symonds of Australia is concerned, most Indians wouldn't even know that he is black by birth. You are making a race issue out of nothing.
Read my comment below.. I am pretty sure that Harbhajan didn't say monkey. Not because he is a saint, but simply because monkey is not a racist/offensive term in India.
If I were to bowl a bouncer at a bastman and he ducked under it, I would most likely say 'teri maa ki choot' or 'behenchod, why dont you hook' or something similar. These are profanities that normally float around even in club cricket in India..Nothing racist there!
@Imrankniazi you said monkey is not offensive to africans will curry is not offensive in America curry is what you put on your food.. so hi curry! hi curry! hi curry!!
@loveallhappiness You should improve your English reading skills. I said that calling someone a 'monkey' isn't offensive/racist FROM an Indian perspective. Besides, it is highly unilkely that the Sikh player would have known the racial heritage of Symonds. Remember, he was adopted and raised by a White Aussie family. Moreover, I believe he would have uttered a different abuse as I explained below. If he indeed wanted to offend, he wouldn't have said monkey.
@tarpumpphillips Man you have taken this issue completely out of context and the Aussie media has blown this way out of proprotion. Read my comment (4 months ago) to get the complete picture. At least, fully understand what you intend to oppose.
What a dance of words. Monkey or not, it was said with tin tension to hurt and ridicule and the response of fans corroborate this intention of hate.
A group of kids passes my house and calls out Habshi over and over. The whole neighborhood hears this but says nothing, and that's hurtful. People stumble over the word 'Negro' all the time and isn't racist in that way. But the hatred of dark skin & the hidden social violence against Black is as NORMAL here as caste oppression.
Do you have a brain? Pakistan is on the brink of civil war and terrorist powers...India is not perfect but with 900,000,000 hindus,150,000,000 muslims, tens of millions of christians, sikh and buddhists, it is tolerant of peaceful people. Yes there have been racial/religious problems but this is a small % of such a big country.
To call someone a moneky is racist. Because you are trying to call them an animal. Some Indians are making themselves look very bad. Negro is out of date. The real term is black. This guy is just full of shit. Monkey is used by Indians to put down Africans and black people so he is just trying to act crazy. Seriously people need to get more educated.
it is true. I am an indian. everyone cares about their skin colour and everyone wants to be white. Adverts about skin lightening products are on tv even on kid's tv channels. this affected me from a young age. i didnt have any self confidence when i moved to england and i blame the indian television to allow this to happen.
You can either feed the colour complex or take pride in who you are at this point. There's always a choice at play! And the automotons feeding into this backward ass equation of fairer is better and whiter is righter - thank those potato faced British bastards for 300 years of occupation for that one and one must at least realize that it may take time to undo that damage to the psyche.
I am from Guyana South America and we have a lot of Indians living there. They are racist. Not all but most. They were worst in my grandfathers day and my mom days. What I did not understand as a child, was some were darker than me and they did not like black people. My great grandmother was Indian, she was married to a half black half white man. I wonder what her family said to her or did. It is sad to me. "Racism" I see it all the time here on Youtube, nothing has changed.
indians are so ridiculous!!!!! they are monkeys themselves so the fack that you calling someone else monkey is acxtually hatting your self!!! we white people call you monkeys, sand niggers, towel head, camel shit and the list goes on for names we have for you indian niggers just go look in the mirror you fucking uneducated silver back gorillas you're no different to us, when we look at indian we see NIGGERS!!!!!HAHAH
Whats' your problem dude. Being white dosen't make you any better than anyone. You are racist and have no shame. Go and get some education because it looks like you have none of it.
all my pakistani brothers, dont throw dirt on each other by saying "Paki", learn some manners from now, and dont get influenced by western and indian propaganda!!!, it wuld be just insulting u and ur pakistani brothers!!!
Racism exists everywhere: Afghanis are called lazy ASSGHANS, South Indians and Sri Lankans are called TUMBYs, Indians in the Caribbean are called COOLIES, Pakistanis often call Indians Chooras and Makars. I don't mind being called Paki because I am 100 % native Pakistani and proud of it. When all Pakistanis refer to themselves as Pakis, people will know who we are. Real Pakistanis from Pakistan should only be called Paki (Kashmiri, Pashtun, Baluch, Sindi and Punjabi). You need to help educate!
so ull be down to paki, as people hit u with this offensive word!!, suits u, but not me, and i tried to educate u, u dont want to learn, how can i help then???
You see I am a proud Pakistani. If we were to educate people as to who are really Pakistanis, the world would know. There is nothing more irritating than seeing people who aren't Pakistanis being labelled as Pakis. For example I've seen some Europeans refer to South Indians/Sri Lankans and Gujarati type people as Pakis in my presence. I told them that I am a pure native Paki and not those people who don't even look Paki . It's idiots like you who don't educate people as to who are real Pakis.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
fuck the freckel-faced crackers, niggers and slit-eyed chinkys. They are all a bunch of ugly motherfuckers. I beleive you're all speaking one of our indo-european languages english so shut the fuck up and suck my dick slaves!
The Holiest Aryan Scriptures, the Vedas, which Hindus think is the changeless word of God, has blonde, white, gods and their enemies are dark-skinned non-Aryans. You can't blame the Christians for this. Christians did not write the Vedas. The Nazis's copied these things from the Hindu scriptures, and also copied the hindu swastika for their flag.
I am an Indian. I can prove that Indians are racist! Indians are one of the most pretentious, holier than thou, little brown bastards you will ever meet. Don't ever let an Indian complain of racism in the west. They are racist on sino-tibetans here in India. let them deal with racism at home FIRST!! Repeal AFSPA from all northeastern states with immediate effect. You shamelessly sign the ICCPR, but allow human rights abuses to go on and then complain of racism! wa,wa! Racist Indians, go to hell!
I guess they are brown to you, but they are most certainly black to me. India's ancient past and the invasion of white-like peoples 1,000's of years ago is part fo the result of this. Not to mention the British.
I agree. I am an Indian by origin and many of the Indians here in Britain are extremely racist. Always refer to blacks and whites in very disrespectful way.
May be few indians are racist but majority of racism in the world comes from white race. They abused every one in past and present. Indians remain fore fronters in fighting racism across world and so the whites accuse indians as racists
"The Romans had their slaves, the Spartans their helots, the Britishers their Villains, the Americans their Negroes, the Germans their Jews; so the Hindus their Untouchables.
But none of these can be said to have called upon to face a fate which is worse than the fate which pursues the Untouchables. Slavery, Serfdom, Villeinage, all have vanished, but Untouchability still exists and bids fair to last as long as Hinduism will last"
@weekenderchina ahem!arabs were actively taken part in the slave trade, egyptians(dark skinned people)enslaved jews.there are racist crimes against white people in black neighborhood and a black person also gets attacked in a white area.
every body's racist
and yes what about you?would you marry a black woman?i certainly doubt it.would you let your kid marry a black person no way!!!i asked 40 indian kids and 95% said they would never date a black person
I don't buy the notion that non-whites can't be racist.
An Indian man had his black daughter in-law killed because she brought shame to his family supposedly. If that ain't racism then I need a new dictionary!
I'm Indian, and I think Indians need to go and look in the mirror... We look like Monkeys, yet for some reason we consider "Bastard" more offensive than "Monkey"... This is why I left India, to get away from all the ignorance, discrimination and plain lack of humility...

Yes.....cultural differences but calling the cricketer a monkey was clearly intended to offend.
maccanaut 1 year ago
@maccanaut "Aussies use bastard loosley" I know that. I've been to Australia. But in many places in the world, calling someone a bastard is a serious offence. Calling someone a 'monkey' is offensive in some places. Not in others. There are countries which have had practically no interaction with black people and for them, calling a black person, or anyone else for that matter, a monkey is not racist.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago

Thanks, that's how I will respond when a Koelie tries wants to open his mouth:-)
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007dam You are missing the whole point, fellow! Racist slangs/terms are dependent on two perspectives - the instigators' and the victim's.
That's why viewing things in context is very important. You can call me coolie all you like, but since I am an engineer, I would just laugh away at that. Words are only as offensive as you let them be. Do you expect me to retaliate by calling you a 'honkey'? I mean seriously, grow up, son! See the world and quite being a toad in a well.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi I think YOU are missing the point! I have never called a black (wo)man a moneky or an Indian (wo)man a coolie! I am just responding to the clip and the comments made here. I think it is funny to see how people get angry when they are discriminated but then very easily discriminate somebody else!
Here in Holland the people don't care if you are an engineer or a lawyer! They don't care which caste you belong to. To THEM you are just a coolie. I am sorry!
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007dam You still don't get it. Calling someone a monkey is not a racial insult in many parts of the world. Certainly not in south-east and East-Asia. Even parents sometime ask their kids to "stop monkeying around".
Well, I've been living in Holland for a couple of years now and haven't been called a 'coolie' so far. I don't give a damn either way.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi Hahhahaa...now you are being realy silly. If a white person, for instance, calls a Indian (wo)man a monkey....all hell would break loose. You know it and I know it!!! So I could call any Indian man or woman I happen to come across a monkey, hahahha!!?? If not...why!?
They may have never called you a coolie to your face. But beleive me, when they speak about you when you are not around.....coolie is the name you go by! Again not my manner of speaking. But that's just the way it is!

I don't know what people call me behind my back. As I said before, insults become insults only when you acknowledge them as such. Cheers, buddy!

@amster2007dam It's rather funny that people who started the trans-Atlantic slave trade are talkign about racism.. Pot..kettle..black?? Haha

Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi What do you know about my background!?? NOTHING!!! I have been to India 4 times. I saw \and spoke to the Dalits. That something Indians can be REALLY PROUD OFF! I am sorry but that whole system is PURE IGNORANCE!!!This doesn't mean that I know everything...but I do recognize mistreatment when I see it!
Any normal grown (wo)man would understand that calling a black (wo)man a moneky, especially when you take history into account, is degrading, humiliating and racist!
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007dam "especially when you take history into account" Who created that history - your forefathers or mine? You treated them like property, never mind calling them as monkeys.
And I've never called any Black person a monkey, nor would I ever. I was just putting in persepective what the cricketer here said. Clearly, you've missed the point and as an 'oh-so-concerned' Westerner started bashing other countries. Typical, shall we say?
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi Shall we start talking about the way the lowest caste people in India are being treated AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME!!!! Please get of your high horse man, hahahahaha!
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007dam If you intend to discuss the caste issue, then I would suggest you talk with a Hindu. I am not one!
And seriously, why do you give a damn about how people are treated in India? How are they related to you? Drink your beer, enjoy your life, fuck your red-light professionals for € 50 and enjoy the free health-care, free education and other benefits that your nation provides. Why do you Westerners need to play this 'holier-than-thou' game is beyond me?
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi In your world you should only give a damn about the people you are related to!!!??? It has nothing to do with " holier-than-thou" but with RESPECT! HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPECT. The fact that I have to explain that to you, realy scarces me!
I don't drink any alcohol and I have never been to a prostitute. That's something for the millions of TOURISTS that come to Holland. If you have lived here for a couple of years, you would know that!
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007dam "HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPECT" Wow..heavy words coming from someone whose ancestors started the biggest slave trade known to mankind. Ok, if you are so keen on weeding evil out of society, why don't you start closer to base? After all, charity begins at home, doesn't it?
Go out in the streets and protest against the smuggling of women to Amsterdam for sex-trade. You would know that the women are hauled in majorly from Eastern Europe by the mafia. So, will you fight that, sir?
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi So you can't be against murder because your father was a murderer. That must be Indian logic, hahahaha! Yep HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPECT. So beacuse your forefathers mistreated either the Hindus, Sikhs or Moslims, you don't have the right to talk about human rights and respect. Are you realy an engineer!? How do you even dare to compare Holland to India with regards to the standard of living, human rights and respect. Shall we talk about prostitutes in india! Even child prostitution!
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007 Did I compare standards of living? My only point was there are issues closer home to consider before passing judgements about others. It is the White Supremacist in you speaking, not the reformist.
As for child prostitutes, I cannot solve every problem in the world and as long as demand will be there, there would be supply. You are the one poking your nose here in a matter unrelated to you or your nation. The cricketers involved were an INDIAN and an AUSTRALIAN. No Dutch there!
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi Doesn't prostitution have anything to do with the standard of living!? Ask the child prostitutes in India! My point is, why should your compassion for other people stop at a border!? So I could never support or feel compassion for a muslim, hindu, sikh or atheist for that matter because they don't live in the same geographical area as I do!?? Come on man, you have a very strange logic my friend. (I hope) Your parents didn't raise you like that!!
White supremacist....hahahhahaa!
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007dam All right..We've already diverted enough in the debate. This video was about whether or not the Indian called the coloured Aussie a monkey or not and whether he meant it as a racial slur.
Read my comment posted under tarpumpphilips (4 months ago) and see my point. I had explained how the misunderstanding could have taken place.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@amster2007dam Well, you are neither Black nor Indian, so I have no clue why you even got involved in the first place. When a Dutch man gets 'racially abused' in India, then we can hear your opinion. Right now, you just look like an out-of-place White supremacist who is ready to criticise any eastern nation at the slightest pretext. How much of this is about your inflated ego than about HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPECT?
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi How do you know that I am not black!?? How do you know that I am not a Suriname/Dutch Indian!? We have people of all kinds of skincolour in Holland! I thought you had been to Holland! It says a lot that in your mind every Dutch man is white! I am sorry but your reasoning and lack of knowledge of Holland makes me also beleive that you lied about being an engineer! Not that that is anything special. YOU OR I are NOTHING MORE OR LESS(!) then a homeless junky prostitute on the street!!!
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007dam I was going by stats here. I admit I may have been wrong and you could be a Black/Surinamese. But seriously, what percentage of Holland's population are non-Whites? There are about 250,000 Surinamese if my memory serves me right. What percentage is that of 16.5 million?
Regardless, my original point was you are not here to show compassion, but to talk down on that nation. You are still ti understand the basis of my argument. Read my comment (under tarpumpphilips) 4 months ago.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi I, or my (grand-)parents could be from Holland, the Antilles, Suriname, Indonesia, Israel, Africa any other European country or anywhere else, for that matter! If my memory serves my right....hahahhahaha! Wikipedia you mean...hahaha:-) I am not talking down to India. It was just disgracefull and dumb what that player and the audience did! Oh my God....if a (group of) white person(s) had done that! You don't have to defend " your people" when they do something wrong!!!
amster2007dam 1 year ago
@amster2007dam Cut it out. Did you see the comment I was referring to?
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@amster2007dam "We have people of all kinds of skincolour in Holland! " Statistics wasn't your favourite subject in high school, was it? If I say I am an Indian and you talked about the caste system automatically meant you assumed I am a Hindu.
There are 78-80% Hindus in India. Are there at least that many (if not more) White Dutch in Holland for me to make a similar assumption?
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi True, true! But again you don't know if I am a yellow, brown, red, black or white Dutch man or woman! And it has nothing to do with the subject. The fact that I live or might live in Holland has nothing to do with the subject either. You don't know if I am a muslim, christian, jew, hindu, sikh, athist or anything else. Again...it doesn't matter for the subject.

Imrankniazi 1 year ago

This is not a professional he is not impartial, now imagine the normal indians who aren't professionals..
defyingodds 2 years ago
I am sure that harbajahn Singh did not use teh term to Andrew Symonds in a "worship" way. the fact that monkeys are worshipped in India is unimportant, the context in which the term was used is what is important and relevant. Mr. Singh meant to use the term in a hurtful way and there is no defense for him using th eterm.
tarpumpphillips 2 years ago
There could be another possibility...
Harbhajan could have said 'Teri maa ki ...' which is an abuse related to someone's mother.
'Maa' + 'ki' when spoken fast could have potentially sounded as monkey. I know for sure that monkey is NOT a racist term in India.
I would be the first to admit that Indians can be very racist though!

Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi you are in denial... in on another video india have lots of commercial telling people that are dark that they will have a better life and get to be a bollywood star if they bleach and lighten their skin.
.
and on another video the more than 20 upper cast thug beat and kill in front of india police a lower class man.. and the police did not help that man he later die.. and Mahatma Gandhi was for the cast system and call black people in South African lower than animals.
loveallhappiness 1 year ago
@loveallhappiness I have lived 21 years on my life in that country and excuse me if I think I know my nation a little better than you. If Bollywood is your ideal about India, then you need to expand your knowledge base. And CASTEISM and RACISM are two completely different issues. Caste system is not relevant to this discussion. Gandhi was a racist and I have never had a good opinion of the man as a politician or as a person. Since when has Gandhi become the mirror to every Indian's true nature?
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi let me tell you something i was volunteering at a convect for 4 month and the nuns from indian was treating the poor like crap and the nuns from america respected the poor.

my friends and my sister went to indian and they say that they have a bad caste system and your people need to stop being in denial...
.
your people will grow spiritually if you all open your eyes for the truth.. are you in a lower caste system? no--- so you are in denial.
loveallhappiness 1 year ago
@loveallhappiness "are you in a lower caste system?" Well, I belong to no caste, because I am not a Hindu, in the first place. Of course, I know the social evils in India; when did I ever deny it? But, as I said before, you are mixing up 2 completely different issues - casteism and racism. This video discussed racism and the issue of casteism in Indian society is not of relevance in this context.
"your people will grow spiritually if you all open your eyes for the truth" Ah,thank you so much.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@Imrankniazi your people is very racist and you are in denial... your people have commercial that have cream to make you white plus in those commercial it said you will not be happy unless you are white.

and not only 10 people in the stand call the man a monkey the whole stand did... stop the bull you are in denial... it is sad.. i also saw on utube that police beat up this five year old girl because she was a dark skin indian.. they claim otherwise.. but we don't believe.
loveallhappiness 1 year ago
@loveallhappiness Whatever honey. If that lets you sleep well at night! So far, I've understood one things:-
a) Racism b) Casteism and c) Cultural preferentialism are three SEPERATE issues and you seem to have an understanding of none of them. I admit that Indians are quite racist, but not anymore than French or southern Europeans and certainly not even close to the Japanese. As for the other two issues, let's just say that they are evil or not depending on how you look at them.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@loveallhappiness Do you want to merely accuse me and India or hear out my point of view as well? Just let me know when you've made a decision. In the meantime, I suggest you read my comment listed right under tarpumpphilips' that was made 4 months ago.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@loveallhappiness "because of the black guy playing a game of cricket. the whole crowed chanted monkey!"
The West Indian team has been coming to India over the last 5 decades. Same with Zimbabwe, which has had majority black players in recent times. I've never heard of players being called as monkeys because of their skin colour.
As far as Symonds of Australia is concerned, most Indians wouldn't even know that he is black by birth. You are making a race issue out of nothing.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@tarpumpphillips,
Read my comment below..
Imrankniazi 2 years ago
@Imrankniazi you said monkey is not offensive to africans will curry is not offensive in America curry is what you put on your food.. so hi curry! hi curry! hi curry!!
loveallhappiness 1 year ago
@loveallhappiness You should improve your English reading skills. I said that calling someone a 'monkey' isn't offensive/racist FROM an Indian perspective. Besides, it is highly unilkely that the Sikh player would have known the racial heritage of Symonds. Remember, he was adopted and raised by a White Aussie family. Moreover, I believe he would have uttered a different abuse as I explained below. If he indeed wanted to offend, he wouldn't have said monkey.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
@tarpumpphillips Man you have taken this issue completely out of context and the Aussie media has blown this way out of proprotion. Read my comment (4 months ago) to get the complete picture. At least, fully understand what you intend to oppose.
Imrankniazi 1 year ago
What a dance of words. Monkey or not, it was said with tin tension to hurt and ridicule and the response of fans corroborate this intention of hate.
A group of kids passes my house and calls out Habshi over and over. The whole neighborhood hears this but says nothing, and that's hurtful. People stumble over the word 'Negro' all the time and isn't racist in that way. But the hatred of dark skin & the hidden social violence against Black is as NORMAL here as caste oppression.

Racism is a vice all human beings share!
I don't buy the notion that non-whites can't be racist.
An Indian man had his black daughter in-law killed because she brought shame to his family supposedly. If that ain't racism then I need a new dictionary!

Whites can't define racism for browns to follow.. we didn't persecute black and we are not going to shoulder white's guilt..
