Hi Rob, I used to date your sister Patti...... It's Jon Pileggi!! Get in touch man, search me at google and contact me through myspace. Hope things are fine with ya. Jon
I bought my 65 Starfire V from a pawn shop and it had been spraypainted blue. I gave $235 for it and paid Tony Nobles (ace luthier, Wimberly,TX) $250 to refret it. I found it belonged to a deceased pro country entertainer and his sister hocked it. It took me 3 days to strip it, but now its a natural blond, looking cool. I've been playing since 1955, and still do in 3 bands. Rock, jazz, country, and pop. Rock on Rob.
Sounds like you've got yourself a nice playing and goodlooking guitar now. The price was certainly right. That's what versatile about these Guild Starfire 5's is that you can play all types of music with them as you do. Too bad about the sister hocking it but it is back where it belongs. Rob
I have a '65 GUild Starfire V and the orginal Guild Bigsby like the one in the video has been replaced. Trying to find one to put it back orginal. Someone put Gibson knobs on this Guild in the video, but great guitar.
The guy I got it from told me it was a 1962. I didn't check. After the vid I ran the serial # and it is actually a 1969. Not sure about the Guild Bigsby for that year but I knew the knobs were Gibson and although I have replacement knobs these gold knobs just looked better. When I got the guitar it was a true mess as someone shellacked the whole guitar including the fretboard. I used my 1965Guild T50 as a sunburst model for the refinisher. Thanks for your info, Rob
80 guitars!! Holy shit. . I've seen entire guitar STORES with less inventory. Great technique.. . this guy can play. Yes, please do encourage him to put more of his work. . especially with the Rickenbackers he owns. .on the 'Tube.
