@speedtreammanga That's my 3d program of choice too. CS5 extended also has a 3d feature (repousse) so you can actually make more accurate 3d logos in 5 seconds rather than 5 mins now. :)
Question; Whenever i seem to move the base layer onto the other layer it automatically locks into place... I dont want this to happen how can i stop this?
@iRadioMedia It sounds like you might have Snap on. If you go to your "View" pulldown menu, look for an option called Snap and make sure it's unchecked.
@ProjectKezi Once you select "Open" in Photoshop to open up your file, just use the view icon to the top far right of the window and change it to "thumbnails" and whenever you open a file this way your graphics will show as a thumbnail. Hope that helps.
The layout is a bit different on Cs3. The brushes icon is a small square in the top right corner, just before the bridge icon and an option that says "Workspace".
Strange...the rectangle lasso (aka marquee tool) should be in the same spot on CS3 as it is on CS2. Sometimes it shows up as eliptical, but you just need to right click and you should be able to change it to rectangle.
I do have the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" but all it does is select a entire rectangular area. Not like in your video where whats inside the rectangular area gets selected.
I've not seen cs4 yet, but I hear it has a lot of changes. I am sure there will be a create brush option somewhere because it's a very important feature, but it might be on a different pulldown.
When you select the text tool, there is a small icon at the top of the screen, to the right of the alignment, colour and "create warped text" icons. If you click on this, you'll get the option to change spacing, height and a lot more. It comes in very handy.
Where can i find the rustytexture?

when i make the brush the brush only comes at the outlines of the text it doesnt make the whole solid text only the outline whats wrong?
srtounez 1 year ago 2
@srtounez this usually happens if you choose pure white as your text colour. Try using a light shade of grey and see if this helps.

It wont work do define brush preset !! ive done everything exactly as its excplained in the video in wont work!!
Youshi1337 2 years ago
You might need to rasterize the type before making your brush. Also, make sure your text isn't pure white.

Thanks a lot! It was very helpful.
musicfreak1117 2 years ago
what's that font type? thanks! :)
musicfreak1117 2 years ago
It's just the basic Arial font, but this technique will work with most others, or even vector logos.

Hey when i "define brush preset" and i start to use the brush it comes as only an outline of the text any idea why???
-Skeptik-
umertirmizi 2 years ago
I'm guessing it's because you chose a pure white or black to colour your text. Try another colour or shade of grey and see if it works.

In 1:27 you use a "Rectangle Lasso Tool"...
I am using Ps CS3, and all I have for Lasso Tools are:
(1) Lasso Tool
(2) Polygonal Lasso Tool
(3) Magnetic Lasso Tool
Where do I get this magical "rectangle Lasso Tool" you speak of oh great one???
TheLastAvailableUser 2 years ago
Strange...the rectangle lasso (aka marquee tool) should be in the same spot on CS3 as it is on CS2. Sometimes it shows up as eliptical, but you just need to right click and you should be able to change it to rectangle.

TheLastAvailableUser 2 years ago
(Theoretically) It should automatically select the text or anything within the layer when you drag it.
However, you might need to "rasterize" the text if you haven't already done so.
Hope this explains things.
wadehjb 2 years ago
i am having the same problem with cs3...
dmoney0015 2 years ago
Another way to select the text is to hold control and click on the layer. It should automatically select everything in that layer.
wadehjb 2 years ago
YES! that worked thanks!!

i have a text all ready with its fx in it,but when i try to add in a texture nothing happens with clipping mask!
any suggestions why?!
inquestHELP 3 years ago
Hmm, I'm not entirely sure to be honest. My suggestion would be to try changing the colour of the text and see if this helps.
Sorry i can't be more specific, but have never seent his problem before.

what is the font called that you use ?
thanks
LsDesigns13 3 years ago
It's the standard arial black font. I'm pretty sure you can apply the technique to all fonts, but works better with bold fonts.

Arial

When you paint with your brush that you made from the text it brushes as a fill. The Brush I made only brushes the outline....why??
MokshaMedia 3 years ago
This happens if your text is pure white. If you type your text in a grey or cream colour, you should get the filled brush. Hope that helps.
