Extreme wind at Keflavik airport. Aircraft could not park at gates!

Same thing happend to me a week ago when we landed in Reykjavik... we had to wait for three and a half hours for the wind to subside... never experienced such a policy before, it was not a real storm or anything... just strong wind...I don't understand why the plane could not get to the terminal? I mean if we had to let passengers wait in the aircraft every time there is wind in Amsterdam or Chicago we would have been bankrupt, but otherwise a great country, great people, long live Iceland!

Stationed there in the 80s and 90s - Air Force. It is one hell of a windy place!

the back and side windows have been known to explod out from low preesure
