i've been living in manchester for about 3/4 years now and can honestly say that the whole 'people from manchester don't support united, they support city' thing is bollocks. Round here, i'd agree with the previous comment, 80% of 'em are united fans. I'm not even a united fan, or a city fan at all (I'm a Chelsea fan) but yeah, United fans are wicked and if anything these days it's the city fans who are the plastics.

United dont have local fans like City do...because the majority of their fans come from London, Japan and the fuckin moon. No, I didn't forget it's in Trafford, but the fact is they aren't called Trafford United now are they so that point is largely irrelevant. Much like Chelsea should be called Fulham and Arsenal should've been called Woolwich. Nobody cares about that. City probably have a more traditional fan base but their manc following is no bigger than united's.

Maybe thats something thats noticed over time...City have got a shop in the Arndale centre...United have got a shitty little stall parked outside it. I think thats been taken down now though. My point is...the vast majority of Man U fans have all jumped on the bandwagon. Their not loyal at all.

@ShortestFuse As for your comment on our cup game yesterday...in all fairness we were playing Notts County so not exactly the game of the season and if I remember correctly there was a lot of spare red seats for Trafford vs Crawley as well...The reason I brought up the whole, Man U arent in Manchester argument is because United fans and (closet) United fans or closet reds as city call them...argue that United are the top team in Manchester. When they arent in Manchester. I just find it funny lol

@costateguise Yeah, true about the Arndale store, but it's not exactly huge anyway! Like I said, I care for neither team. I live in a studenty area so a lot of these united fans I see aren't from Manchester (a lot are however) I just dont see many city fans round- I haven't been in the centre of town shopping for a while so maybe i've just got my proportions mixed. I just think the whole 'real' mancunians thing is a load of bollocks really, especially when manchester is so culturually diverse.

@chronicle17 i think youre slightly misguided. there about a 55-45 split in man city's favour in manchester, but most of man city's fans are based in stockport. and if you take stockport out of the equation then there would probably be a 60-40 split in man united's favour
