  • "Tango to Evora" was used in the National Film Board of Canada documentary The Burning Times. A cover to the song has been recorded by one of Greece's most popular and respected singers, Haris Alexiou, entitled "Nefeli's Tango", with lyrics written by herself. Another cover to the song has been recorded by Turkish singer, Nilüfer, entitled "Çok Uzaklarda". Evora is an historical city in Portugal.

  • i dedicate this song to my special friend Anamaria!!!

  • i like the last picture very much!

  • she wrote this music?you see greece's most famous singer has a song with the same music

  • What is her name ? When her song was released ?

  • her name is xaris alexiou but i really don't know when it was released..i think it's quite old

  • I think almost for sure Xaris Alexiou has only made a cover of Tango to Evora. The music is written by Loreena McKennitt. This song was released on The Visit, an McKennitt's album, in 1991.

  • @debiaptget: you're absolutely right, music is written by lorena and xaris just made a cover;

  • @aniretakDB007 what's the greek song called please?

  • @moohaali in greek it's called το τανγκο της νεφελης which means nefeli's tango and you can find it by writing xaris alexiou to tango ths nefelis

  • @aniretakDB007 thank you :)

  • @aniretakDB007

In 1996, she writes then lyric for "Nefeli's Tango" on Loreena McKennit's music. This song along with other live recordings from her concerts around the world, is included in the album Around the World '92-'96. "Nefeli's Tango", for several months is one of the ten top songs of World Music in Europe.

  • @aniretakDB007 Haris Alexiou's version is a cover of Loreena's song! (:

  • @aniretakDB007 NOPE SHE DIDN'T WROTE THIS MUSIC SHE HAS BORROWED IT FROM TURKEY.... THE SONG CALLED SO FARAWAY IN TURKISH. HERE'S THE PROOF watch?v=yReQRaXs1_c&feature=related

  • @hasanozcelik She did write this song a lot of artists borrowed the music to write other versions in their own language. Haris Alexiou also borrowed the music and at least credited Loreena for the music.

  • @aniretakDB007

The greek version (Haris Alexiou - To tango tis Nefelis) is based on the music from Loreena McKennitt

  • @Dizzy35681 I knew there was something about this song... It's always sounded Greek to me, more than it sounded like Loreena's other songs..

  • @aniretakDB007 το τραγούδι αυτό βγήκε το '91 και η Χάρις Αλεξίου έβγαλε το cover το '96.

  • @aniretakDB007 Yeah ? And so does Nilufer, a famous singer from Turkey. Both versions are based on THIS song. =) You little idiot. ^^

  • @thekiddeathzone little idiot???oh my god so mature to insulte someone on youtube for asking a simple question.i never said this song isn't loreena's. honestly insulting me for that and two years later?????lol

  • @aniretakDB007

I'm sure the two years later was on the part that no one ever reads that crap. But on the other person's defense, your words from two years which happen to be on the top do come off as condescending. "You see..." is already starting shit then emphasizing greece's "MOST FAMOUS" singer- you made it sound like she took if from someone more famous. People are going to defend their artists even if the comment is two years old, ignorant, and foolish.

  • @shedano what the hell?it was just a question for gods sake!! i asked i learned and that's the end of the story!!you could find offensive even a kids song if you wanted to!!for the last time: i never meant to say it isn't loreena's song!! i said what i said to justify my question!! of course i was ignorant that is why people ask and learn. no one knows everything...except you of course...now you can feel all superior and clever against the stupid person who had the grit not to know everything!

  • @aniretakDB007

Says the person rampaging like a hippo- those things are violent!- I told you HOW your question seemed offensive especially since it was at the top of the comments page leading most people to see as rather new when it's not. I was defending why the person would see you as such. This person defended an artist that you were initially in that old comment blatantly offensive. Then you get offensive back. Of course it works that way! Just a question can be just as insulting.

  • @aniretakDB007 Like in Turkey, i know this song since my childhood.

  • es sublimo

  • Je veux la dédicacer à Julio Cesar.

  • This music touches my soul... wonderful!

  • Belles photos pour un très belle musique et une grande voix. Superbe!

  • Realmente precioso...un regalo para la vista y el oido...Gracias por enviarmelo.

No se si me he sugestionado por lo de "Evora"...que me suena al lamento del Fado.
