HOLY S**T, Peff!!! Could this be the answer to my dreams? A MIDI-output from Reason/Record??!! Very exciting. I'd love to know more about this. I had a quick look on your website but I don't think there is anything up there about this yet. Anyway, this is very interesting & I look forward to seeing/hearing more. I owe you a beer ...... I owe you a crate of beers :-) Excellent work as ever ;-)
@Dogboy73 it's not something worth posting on the website, yet. I'm still ironing out some issues with the patch. Keep in mind that the version of the patch in this video should work fine on windows. I'm using the base MaxMSP objects and no outisde scripts. The problem is that because this uses rewire, audio in is defeated. The new version of the patch which doesn't use Rewire, may not work on windows.
@PeffTV Exciting stuff. Do you think it will be possible to get a Windows version working that doesn't require Rewire? Because that would make my year!! :D Actually I'm still trying to get my head around how this works. You seem to be trying out different methods in the vids. Just to be clear if this works will it just require the MaxMSP patch you made for MIDI-out from Reason allowing recording back into Record? (I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself!! :D :D :D)
@Dogboy73 - the latest version no longer routes the CV signals through ReWire, but uses soundflower, a mac only system extension that allows you to route audio internally between applications. I think ASIO4ALL will do the same thing, but I'm not sure how it will perform with this type of comm. I'll start posting some of the patches soon on my facebook page. It would be great to have you test it on your system.
Now, if P-Heads would just add some of those things into Reason. MIDI out, or at least MIDI sync out. (Great for external synths, amirite?) Two way audio to rewire, so you can send things into it. Just to name two things.
You're one of the people who's pushing the limits of Reason, but it always strikes me that you have to work around the limits...
