Most mainstream rappers couldnt spell half the words this kid uses. On this album he says he can remember a time when people other than rappers were friends of the rhyme and wonders why poets today arent as prevelant. Its because of idiots ie THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Some1 said something about leetle wang? Y was he even mentioned? to point out how rap is nothing more than booty music now? I hope people hate this, the day i hear this emanating from a donk i will stop listening. white pride.
@Tmathh Do you mean the instrumental version of this actual song? Or the sampled stuff? I know for a fact the string section in this song is by Hugo Winterhalter, from a tune called "Who Can I Turn To?". And yes, I do have it. But I can't post the link here. Feel free to message me if you want it.
I have no idea why anyone thinks he is unrhytmic, because he's perfectly in time. The only thing he does is not always rhyme words in the same place in the same sentence structure or in the same fashion, he uses lots of slant rhymes. anyone who says he has bad rhythm, even Paul himself, is using the wrong sort of phrasing to communicate their ideas.
@SpicyGyoza WRONG. Prince Paul didn't produce this track. Phofo did. Prince Paul produced MC PB's ep It's Very Stimulating. Apparently nothing you say matters.
@alouistheman Technically hes not wrong because he never said THIS track was produced by Prince Paul. I would say MC PB was produced by Prince Paul in the sense that he helped make him who he is.
@tyler2june its because white people are goofy and are easier to relate too for us, the white people ghetto is a trailer park, not a project, and so on and so forth, but i gotta say good white guy rappers are few and far between, like my top 3 fav rappers are del the funky homosapien (deltron 3030), mc paul barman and method and red ( i count them as one) so i dunno, i guess i just like rappers i deem as good without skin color
yoooo I just listened to this guy for the 1st time today...REALNESS lol f*ck lil wayne and all those mainstream n*ggas he's the real deal if he mastered his flow it'd be on point
Paul Barman Is the shit. Seriously, fuck the haters that are even mentioning "rappers" like Slug, or the Def Jux chumps, or fuckin Lil Wayne and Nas. You guys need to read some fucking poetry and get educated. No homo.
@BluenoteAndTheKid seriously...this dude couldn't rap his way out of a paper bag. And man, Nas..if you don't consider him a poet you are not listening to the right songs. Not to mention Slug...ever heard Woman With The Tattooed Hands???? That's POETRY in every way, shape and form. Get educated? I believe it's you who needs some schoolin' dude.
@emcee4CEE ...it takes time to get used to the stee....this dude is to rap, what a garage band is to rock, it sounds like shit at first, but after a while, you sense the purity. Give him another chance bro, it might grow on you...peace.
@vg543 He says a lot, his lyrics are great...but FLOW, is a major staple of hip hop. I like him don't get me wrong, but I can only listen to so much in one sitting. It feels to me like he's making a joke out of being an MC. If he had more rhythm with his words, he would be incredible. But thank you for the civilized comment homie! Not many people on here would speak the way you did, I commend you on your well-mannered, well delivered opinion! Cheers brotha.
@emcee4CEE ......so true, I agree, he does have a touch of Weird Al Yankovic, haha. 1:41 - "rhymes come so easy...if I had any rhythm, you'd finally faint." at least he admits his timing sucks, lol. Yo, I checked your vid, "The Cooks" good job dude. Nice to see some honest expression and humility. Cheers.

Paul Barman is fucking terrible. I heard this song back in middle school and I got heated. I got heated because he ruined an amazing beat, and I like the beat so much I'd have to bear with his terrible voice.
I cannot help if somebody has an unattractive voice but please dear sweet god, save the music.
@PazToTheMan at least lil wayne says shit that makes sense. "I got a very goth towel, a Terry Clark cowel / And when I wear it, I'm a hairy moth owl" Yeah, fuckin poet laureate right there.
@JosephO75 naw lil wayne doesnt make sense MC paul Barman keeps it real MF Doom is a legend and he sometimes doesnt make sense... MF Doom says "good googlie did you see that loogie? yea keep it on the D.L. Hughley
@PazToTheMan word life. Doom makes sense, it's just that you can look at his lyrics in more than one way. for example "Hey you, got a light? Nah, a bud light / Early in the morning, *face crud* like a mud fight." crazy son
It's a dense overflowing: "Goth" has several meanings, and "Terry Clark" is a pun on both to the Christian music pioneer and Clark Terry, legendary jazz trumpeter (the obverse). A cowl is a cloak, maybe worn by a monk, which could be made from a terry cloth towel, and when one wears it: they might look like an owl moth (google image it)...
@emcee4CEE If you can't see the sarcasm...you're blind. Anyone who says the same three words, three times, in one line...IS GARBAGE. Wayne is a fucking joke, I think we both agree there.
I heard literaly a couple of seconds of the beat of this song and thought it was so sick that i basically spent the last 4 - 6 hours looking for it and after all that i knew this was it when i found it just from that 2 seconds of ahhhhahhooo oooohoohhw
this is the funniest jewish white rapper from the early 2000's. that is a really specific category, but seriously he is probably the funniest rapper of all time
@nikeskater416 : please!!! his rhymes are so funny and cool. What r u talking about? Does rap always have to be "hardcore" and "from the hood"? I can listen to his rhymes all day, and the beat/sample is dope too.
i never said hip hop always has to be hardcore or hood..this guy is just fucking terrible. someone made a song indirectly making fun of him and he stopped making albums. "Party Fun Action Committee - Chapstick", look it up. he has such a monotone flow and horrible delivery..i don't know how people like this "music"
@nikeskater416 : who cares if someone made fun of him? I've heard of paul barman but i've never heard of chapstick or whatever. barman never was trying to be a "contender" in the rap scene. He was always just trying to be fun and funny. There's a million Nas clones of the world. Not to pick on nas, he's great, but there's a million "great rappers" but no one who does anything different. The song "Loser" by beck, is monotone and no delivery but is fucking fun to listen to and good.
The fact that he's trying to have fun and be funny is hilarious considering someone made one song about him and he stopped making music. I agree on the Nas clones completely with you, theres so many rappers that are "lyrical this and lyrical that", i feel MC Barman is another Nas clone in his own subject. But as Nas said in Ether, "name a rapper that I haven't influenced"..its true. Barmans songs have no true meaning to them..and by the way, Beck fucking sucks.
@nikeskater416 : beck isn't that great, I agree... but he's good, and the song Loser has some really great lyrics that don't necessarily mean anything but it's just word play, like barman. What's this song that you keep referencing where someone made fun of Barman so he stopped recording? If he stopped recording, I doubt it's because some unknown dude made fun of him.
I gave you the title of the group and song name..."Party Action Fun Committee - Chapstick" look it up. The whole album is made by two producers from the Def Jux label (Aesop Rock, El-P, ect..) its a spoof on different genres of hip hop. And these guys are much more known than MC Paul Barman, sorry.
@nikeskater416 : yes, aesop rock is slightly well more known than barman.. the other guy is not. PLUS, I remember one of barman's tracks played on the radio about 5 years ago or so... I've never heard aesop on the radio (not that that matters). Point is: just because aesop rock thinks being a hip hop clone is cool and makes fun of anybody who does anything different.. doesn't make him right. who gives a shit what aesop rock thinks? I don't.
@nikeskater416 : just checked out "chapstick" that shit was funny and good. Totally did a good job of making fun of barman. But ironically, it's a really good track... he's trying to make fun of barman's style, but comes up with a great track while doing so. Whatevs... barman is, what it is... I think it's fun to listen to, and I have severe ADD, so listening to lyrics is hard for me. It's fun to listen to, maybe you disagree.
@emzzdad : Okay... let's hear one of your lyrics. Or maybe you have something posted online. If you're lyrics are better than this guy I'd love to hear your album. Let me know where I can go to listen to it. (I'm assuming you don't even get half of the lyrics since he sometimes uses big words and references you wouldn't know.)
Damn I've been in love with this song since the first time I heard it. I was working at my college radio station (2002?) and I saw this envelope stuck between a stack of CD's and it was labeled in pen PALLELUJAH w/ the tracks list and record co. info. What a lucky find. "I write first person in light verse in a white hearse, I'm the 'ne plus ultra', of B-plus culta' . . . "
Paul Barman does what he does to experiment. He doesn't need or want your approval, naysayers. What's dope about him is he knows he's dope without swag and what he's saying makes you listen He's not Eminem or Lil Wayne and he doesn't try to be. While both are good/accomplished emcees in their own right their styles can be duplicated. The same can't be said for Paul Barman. There was a time when individuality was seen as a plus in rap music but I guess I'm too old and out of touch, lol.
@nikeskater416 Aesop is choppy and cryptic. He's NEVER straightforward. MF Doom is a studio junkie and Slug is emo. How did the existence of these rappers influence Barman's creativity? Barman IS straightforward even if you don't always get the popculture or literary references. Barman only did four albums. MF Doom(MadVillan or MadLib, Viktor Vaughn, Zeb Love X all inclusive) has too many to name. Barman rarely sounds depressing. Try and get through an Atmosphere album without a down track....
You know how hip hop used to be pro-black? Or how rapping subject was either about where the rapper came about, or how good the rapper was at rapping. Plenty of "indie" hiphop artists broke this barrier a long time ago and made the pathway for rappers like Barman. I'm not saying they sound a like, i'm saying if it wasn't for indie artists like them who everyone considered "weird" or "nerdy" when they came out, Barman would have never seen the light of day as an artist.
@PluggyBear i actually still believe mc's should be individual because it gets played out hearing the same things over and over, which is why underground is appreciated.
It's not on Special Herbs, it wasn't produced by DOOM. To my knowledge there is no instrumental version of this out anywhere, but you can maybe try to contact Phofo (the real producer) to get more information.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
for those of you who love this and are thinking about getting the album it's from, DON'T. it's terrible. this is the only serious track. idk why he didn't use this sort of attitude on other tracks.

But as Nas said in Ether, "name a rapper that I haven't influenced"..its true. Barmans songs have no true meaning to them..and by the way, Beck fucking sucks.
nikeskater416 1 year ago
@nikeskater416 : beck isn't that great, I agree... but he's good, and the song Loser has some really great lyrics that don't necessarily mean anything but it's just word play, like barman. What's this song that you keep referencing where someone made fun of Barman so he stopped recording? If he stopped recording, I doubt it's because some unknown dude made fun of him.

@freezazoid
I gave you the title of the group and song name..."Party Action Fun Committee - Chapstick" look it up. The whole album is made by two producers from the Def Jux label (Aesop Rock, El-P, ect..) its a spoof on different genres of hip hop. And these guys are much more known than MC Paul Barman, sorry.
nikeskater416 1 year ago
@nikeskater416 : yes, aesop rock is slightly well more known than barman.. the other guy is not. PLUS, I remember one of barman's tracks played on the radio about 5 years ago or so... I've never heard aesop on the radio (not that that matters). Point is: just because aesop rock thinks being a hip hop clone is cool and makes fun of anybody who does anything different.. doesn't make him right. who gives a shit what aesop rock thinks? I don't.

@nikeskater416 : I'll check out the chapstick song though. I'm not a hater... I hope it's good.
freezazoid 1 year ago
@nikeskater416 : just checked out "chapstick" that shit was funny and good. Totally did a good job of making fun of barman. But ironically, it's a really good track... he's trying to make fun of barman's style, but comes up with a great track while doing so. Whatevs... barman is, what it is... I think it's fun to listen to, and I have severe ADD, so listening to lyrics is hard for me. It's fun to listen to, maybe you disagree.

I got more skills as a rapper and way more talent as a lyricist then this lyrically lame cracker..

@emzzdad no need for the cracker remark.
binladidaden 1 year ago
@emzzdad : Okay... let's hear one of your lyrics. Or maybe you have something posted online. If you're lyrics are better than this guy I'd love to hear your album. Let me know where I can go to listen to it. (I'm assuming you don't even get half of the lyrics since he sometimes uses big words and references you wouldn't know.)

What is the organ/choir sample in the background?

MC Paul Barman original...? Ever hear of Adeem? This guy is an Adeem rip off, except with a slow, boring flow.

MC Paul Barman wouldn't exist if it weren't for "weird" rappers like Aesop Rock, MF Doom, Slug, ect..he's not that creative or original at all, lol.
nikeskater416 1 year ago
@nikeskater416 Aesop is choppy and cryptic. He's NEVER straightforward. MF Doom is a studio junkie and Slug is emo. How did the existence of these rappers influence Barman's creativity? Barman IS straightforward even if you don't always get the popculture or literary references. Barman only did four albums. MF Doom(MadVillan or MadLib, Viktor Vaughn, Zeb Love X all inclusive) has too many to name. Barman rarely sounds depressing. Try and get through an Atmosphere album without a down track....

@PluggyBear
You know how hip hop used to be pro-black? Or how rapping subject was either about where the rapper came about, or how good the rapper was at rapping. Plenty of "indie" hiphop artists broke this barrier a long time ago and made the pathway for rappers like Barman. I'm not saying they sound a like, i'm saying if it wasn't for indie artists like them who everyone considered "weird" or "nerdy" when they came out, Barman would have never seen the light of day as an artist.
nikeskater416 1 year ago
@PluggyBear i actually still believe mc's should be individual because it gets played out hearing the same things over and over, which is why underground is appreciated.

EurakiTheGreat 2 years ago
It's not on Special Herbs, it wasn't produced by DOOM. To my knowledge there is no instrumental version of this out anywhere, but you can maybe try to contact Phofo (the real producer) to get more information.

for those of you who love this and are thinking about getting the album it's from, DON'T. it's terrible. this is the only serious track. idk why he didn't use this sort of attitude on other tracks.
