I love generalizations about entire countries...as if geography was the most important part of one's personality. Imagine the sheer idiocy demonstrated if I were to base my opinion of India on my exchanges with a couple of assholes visiting my town (or website) over the weekend. Sounds shitty, no? Also shitty is the idea that you can RANK senses of humor from region to region. Nationalistic snobbery is perhaps the shittiest way to view the world.

Fair enough, although one can't deny that comedians from different regions have specific styles of comedy. They were just influenced by other comedians close to home with similar senses of humor. Same way different areas develop specific sounding bands or music.

As a Canadian I'm not sure if that's a fair comparison. It's all a matter of opinion because a lot of British humor is Dry and American isn't But Russel Brand is a great comedian.

I totally agree with you. He's very charismatic, and he tells some mildly amusing "stories" but I wouldn't call them "jokes" per se. Are you American BTW? I am. I also didn't like his performance at the MTV VMA's last year. Maybe it's an American thing? LOL I guess the humor doesn't translate...

He's a very British act but by the same token he's no benchmark for British comedy... wouldn't make many critics top 50 stand ups. Stand up comedy in the UK is always more character-driven and thespian than US comedy, but in this case it's style over substance. Must reiterate I quite like the guy though.
