  • Oh, please help me find an audio recording of the song my father used to sing to me when he came home from Okinawa. It went: Sa-ra-ba Okinawa yo..." I am 61 and would love to have this so very, very much. Thanks so much.

  • @umlighthouse Wish I could, but I only know the names of a couple of Okinawa songs. hai sai oji-san!

  • Being American I think you will fail to capture the real vibe of Okinawa - your video only presents a tourist trail visit. During my time in Okinawa I was pretty disgusted at the Americans there, swaggering around like they own the island - and I don't think I met a single Okinawan who genuinely liked them.

Granted, marines are not exactly the best example of Americans thats why their in the army - but they are representing US.

"Watch planes take off from the airbases?" That was pretty lame.

  • @rosswoof That's exactly what I was going for. I was going for an outsider's perspective. The idea of being on an adventure in a new place. I didn't try and glamorize it. I tried to show people my experience of being in Okinawa for the first time. I tried my best to be a respectful guest while I was there.

As far as the military is concerned, whether you like it or not, it is interesting to a lot of people. Out of 25 episodes I made, only one was dedicated to the U.S. Military presence.

  • @rosswoof (cont.) I don't think that is overdoing it by any means. There is a U.S. military presence there and I thought it was important to talk about it at least a little because I think it shapes the culture of the island for better or for worse.

  • @AgileHProductions Hey Brother, you did an excellent job. These videos are awesome and they help out alot of people coming to Okinawa. Don't listen to HATERZ like rooswoof. I disagree with him as well. There is alot of Okinawans that like us Marines here. My wife is Okinawan and I have lived here for 7 years and love it. Of course we are not perfect and have our flaws. About the planes taking off, thats pretty cool that you captured what people see here everyday. Thank you SEMPER FI !

  • @laredo132001 Thanks a lot!

  • Watch planes take off from US military bases! That is disgusting. I think you should question why the US has a military base there and ask what do people think about that!

  • @elhorreya I'm not pro or con about the bases in the video. I'm just describing the stuff you can see on the island. Personally, I would like to see the U.S. bring most of their troops home. I think history tells us why there is a base in Japan. This is a place the U.S. initially tried to stay out of before they were attacked.

  • thanks for getting back to me and for the info.

  • hey ... i like your videos of okinawa. i want to visit it in the coming year and i was wondering if it is expensive there ?

  • @tonypittbull72 Prices in Okinawa are cheaper than the mainland. I find them similar to Columbus, Ohio where I live. It is the kind of place that could be very cheap or expensive depending on how you like to travel.

  • OKINAWA!!! I WANNA GO BACK!!!!

  • I just moved out of Oki a little over a month ago.... I lived there for 9 years of my life and... I've gotta say, this video shows some of the coolest things about the island. I miss it so much and plan on going back next summer....

Soo all in all, thanks for posting some of the wonderful things about my home! I wish everyone could experience the island just once in their lives!

  • Okinawa was AWESOME!!! I lived there for 5 years:)

  • @jkmatsu You lived there?! That's so cool! I love japan, and Okinawa's the manine part of japan i what to visit. If you have any cluse on how much it might cost, PASSE!!!Tell me.

  • @hatter391 idk... I think it costs like $1000 or $500 per person if you're in America.

  • My god..."watch planes take off at the U.S Military bases?!" you must be so proud of your occupation!

  • @NVIH I`m actually pretty indifferent. The bases bring a lot of money to Okinawa, but I understand why some people want them gone. I would prefer to bring some US Troops home from all over the world and save the US tax payers some money. Some people find military culture interesting and that:s why I have included it in the video. It:s nothing political on my part. You should watch episode 12 in my series.

  • what kind of wheather is it in Okinawa ? subtropical og tropical?

  • @steve884 I believe it is considered sub-tropical.

  • Festivals and religion

  • cool shuri castle i remember that from call of duty:world at war final fronts

  • 'watch planes take off at large US military bases'

Why would anyone want to go to Okinawa to see that. That's the last thing people want to see. America should hurry up and leave Japan already. They've been there long enough and they cause nothing but trouble for the locals.

  • @thegreatman99 Not everybody who's stationed in Okinawa ends up being worthless pieces of trash, you know. It's always a few morons who love to ruin it for everyone. One of the things the military tries to do is work together with locals to foster good relations between America and other nations. There's a very strict policy of deporting people who break the rules for those good relations, so I don't know what you're talking about. I lived there for 3 years and didn't hurt anyone.

  • @thegreatman99 Excuse me but Okinawa is not Japan. Okinawa is Okinawa and Japan is Japan. Unfortunately, they now share a common flag.

  • thanks a lot

  • becasuse tug-a-war is there culture mate

i live here its so hottttttttttttttttttttt

  • wow so many people like tug-of-war so fascinating I wanna try

  • This isn't your fault but I wish YouTube would make your videos longer so I didn't have to watch them in parts. No offense...

  • Actually, that's my fault. I made shorter webisodes so that people could jump around to topics that interest them. It works for some people, but not everyone. You can buy my DVD on Amazon if you want to watch it all straight through.

  • Hum. I might just do that maybe. Thanks

  • @AgileHProductions

why would you upload videos for free that others have to pay for?

  • My husband and I are moving to Kadena soon! We're really excited to go! :]

  • omg i luv okinawa i was born here and i still live here and its an amazing place if only americans can go and not causing such a scene but other than that everythings cool!

    thanks you for posing

  • Thanks for the kind words. It's a cool place. I can't wait to go back.

  • Suck on his teet more, fanboy.

  • That is Futenma Air Base.

  • i lived there for the first 3 yrs. of my life... it was so beautiful there

  • I visited briefly in 2006 and I loved it. Not only is it beautiful but the people are much warmer and friendlier than say, on mainland Japan. It felt just like home.

  • My two years on Okinawa were the best years of my life in the military. The people were the most honest and hard working I have ever met. The beaches, jungles and mountains are beaufiful. The parachute jumps from Air Force aircraft and Army and Marine helicopters onto Yomitan drop zone were the best.

  • Hey I want to be stationed in Japan when I join the navy. Did you get to choose? Im gonna be a Translator so I was hoping to live there. Is that an option?

  • Thank you for promoting my beautiful home island Okinawa, Japan. You could have shown us some limestone caves if you'd realized about them. Anyway good video, good music! Well done!
