  • much kudos

  • whoever pressed disslike did it accidently im sure

  • "You can mix in any room, as long as you've just used to the sound" ..So true..no matter what PA you get for the mixing, it doesn't matter, if you don't know how ur gear sounds like..

  • anyone know what model the Yamaha Circuit Bent keyboard is? it looks like a PSS 4-580 something...

  • shame on you the record is Monophonic so its sound the seam in any stereo or mono systems

  • Love the bit when he gets on about his Yamaha! Wonder what model that one is... Can you circuit bend any of those electric keyboard of the kind Simon mentions? I must have heard the sounds coming from it in Gamma Goblin track. I really wanna one of thooooose!

  • I have one question... how did he connect stereo instrument to phono channel?

  • @lunarbeats He didn't, he was just panning that channel from left to right, the effect of which you can hear from the stereo output of the mixer.

  • When I heared him first time, I intantly understood which music put substantial impact on him. PF

  • I think is very hard at these days .....find a such great artist with so high semplicity :)

  • alguien sabe si el software que esta usando es logic?

  • Two eventides and two distressors.. nice - because one each is not enough!

  • for amazing psy chill

    go to

    Orpheus - cruel symphony.wmv

    enjoy

  • Seems like a really sound bloke! Nice one, thanks for the upload. Really should dig out my old music making gear.

  • He uses logic!! I knew it!

  • man who do you become a producer or a sound enginer im just a beatmaker right now but i would love to become a producer?

  • for amazing psy cill

    go to :

    orpheus - cruel symphony

    enjoy

  • what i mean is its like you build something with em 3000screws and 200 little parts and then you build something with 100screws and 20 little parts its no challenge then for yourself i think

  • On Psytrance you have allways more then 5 Channels:-) because its very complex really twisted inside, tons off synthesizers or samples etc in fact its harder too create then electro, house or hardcore for example so, sure it give artists who are good in their music that sounds good too but its easier ...much easier then to create good psytrance and if you make psytrance and you are in the materia you will think hardcore for example is bullshit because you do such a track in 15minutes

  • @PsyneticSound Depends completely on what aspect we're talking about. In some ways, psy trance is much easier to produce than say a good hitting electrou house song or a hardcore song, because they rely much more on punch and loudness than psytrance, but to produce good psy trance you need to be good at keeping energies during a much longer period of time, building up and deliviring sound design that compells to the people who've been dancing to that track for five minutes waiting for the drop.

  • cheers, simon! can i have your ms-20 seen as you're not really using it anymore?

  • @dhollseed want it too !!! :P

  • in 5:30 he is telling us how many channels he uses on his mixer. 32 channels!!!

in todays shity house and electro music.i think you only need a max of five channels.

the music today is very simple and un imaginary.

i really miss the 90 goa trance. i listend to astral, man with no name, cosmosis, etnica.

it amaises me that all of the young listeners of electronic music now days, thinks that electro is the best music ever. you should of born ten years earlier, to understands what is music!!

  • @astralmir Electro and Simons music cannot be compared.... These are 2 completely different genres which are amazing in their own right. There are artists brilliant in electro and there are artists that are brilliant in goa trance.... You can never say one genre is better than the other just because it has more channels at use... When you learn to appreciate different artists and genres and take something form it, that's when you understand music.

  • @alex4527 i am not compairing electro to goa trance. what i wanted to emphasis with the number of channels. is the fact that goa trance have layers of sounds one on another.

a nice bass line, and a lot of percussion. from the other end electro is ....

like armin van buuren said in a interview that i saw here in youtube. "now days less is

more" and im saying . if less is more, how much more is more.

im from israel, all the clubs here plays electro, and i fed up with it. all sounds the same.

  • @alex4527 but yes you can say one is better. Uncreative and general shit is produced like fastfood today, that wasn't the case back then.

  • @astralmir i use over 32 tracks on most of my music regardless of genre :P

  • @astralmir ?? its not about how many channels you use...

  • @astralmir i agree about missing the older days before electro and trance went to crap. honestly the only electronic music i still enjoy on a regular basis is downtempo. it seems to be the only one that has evolve as opposed to devolved. out of the releases every month i hear far more downtempo tracks that catch my ear than i do dance or psy trance or any of the like. i still love my goa though. with the advent of computers, full on, dark psy, any kid in his bedroom can get a record printed.

  • @astralmir you must be joking man! 32 channels is not so much. Check out 7skies youtube channel: more then 100 channels per one progect:)

  • @astralmir You're forgetting a very crucial point: We don't need as many channels anymore. It's easy to do what you did with 32 channels back in the day with 5 channels today.

  • @astralmir So true =)

  • i see Simon is a Pink floyd fan too...love him more now...:-)

  • get yer haircut

  • love this man

  • Simon reminds me of Danny Rampling at the start!

  • Can anyone see what software he is using? Is it cubase?

  • @W4RW017 Logic Pro

  • @W4RW017

Im sure he uses a plethora of software, but that did not look like cubase to me, or FL or ableton

  • 1:48 how did it go? : )

  • its hard to beleive that a down to earth human is the shpongulator.

  • "serves you right" lol that cracks me up

  • i want the funking shpongle poster!!!

  • obviously a very humble guy. it would be awesome to hang out with these guys.

  • Of course Simon Posford is a analog freak.. respect :) But it was expected his whole generation of musicans are truly innovative and very GOOD.. i think it becuase many of them were raised in a time of very original technology whcih also in the end inspiered everyone to to what they do.. now isee noone knows anything anymore about analoge stuff and it makes me said., well well.. i have the OSCar and it all true that you say about it hehe :) cheers

  • @Uvisir give it time, the birth of high quality computerised music equipment might seem like its destroying something but i guarantee that its just the beginning of something beautiful.

i mean modern psy would be next to impossible to create just on old equipment shpongle would probably be impossible too.

    Its all good :)

    Peace

    Brian

  • Shpongle was created on old school equipment...

  • @alex4527 yes but recorded on a computer and possibly dat but now its in logic.

It was using flutes and violins etc so yes :) very old equipment

  • if i would have taken the money i spent on audio courses at college, i could have had my own studio and label today.... You condense so much time and money worth of college into ten minutes!

  • does anyone know what monitors he is using?

  • @sacredgeometry

Probably Mackey HR824 Speakers. Seen the same thing in Infected Mushroom's studio too! It seems like one of the industry standards nowadays.

  • he should show what inspires them.....they even named songs after what im talkin about

  • right on man free thinker like me

  • kindnessly face.

    kindness come from where??

    Psychedelic sound??

my thinkin is free from restrictions!!
