you need a new wheel, that one's spokes are different one each side for all the gears. just get a premade one for fixies.

your old wheels are worthless. don't even bother taking them apart. take your frame to your local bike shop and have them measure your rear fork. you might have to respace it. talk to them about the cost of new wheels with a track hub and whether they build custom wheels or not.

you're opening a whole can of worms with no experience. you can do it but i recommend when it's all built up you go back to the shop and your work checked, especially chain line.

Buy a new one? You should. New hubs too. Can't say that enuff. Hubs are the two metal things in the center of the wheels btw. Track hubs are directly connected to the wheel spokes so that cruising is impossible. That's the essential item for a track bike.

don't use those old 27" wheels-they are probably about to break. Instead, look at a bike shop or on craigslist for used 700c wheels. 27" wheels are outdated.

dude, great stuff. Ive been working on my own conversion and its coming along nicely. So I totally use goo off to clean everything on that bike... just amazing.
