@spikes469 that's not how hamsters contract wet tail. please don't post to misinform people. Wet tail is a contracted through contact with other hamsters that have wet tail or through stress in their environment so it's important to let them be ideally until they show they are ready to interact. You also don't want to change food too fast, as that will stress them out. Wet tail is essentially diarrhea, which is dangerous because they can dehydrate easily as they are small animals.

@spikes469 actually, hamsters dont get wet tail from getting wet, and she had it bundled up so it was drying quickly, the hamster was fine, wet tail is from diarrhea, from the animal being stressed out. And hamsters can swim, and it isnt harmful to them as long as you use warm water, and dry them after with a towel

Don't listen to the people that say you aren't supposed to put hamsters in water... You can put them in water but not too deep. Anything over 1 1/2 inches is too deep.
