Well... he probably TRIED not to... but accidents happen! These stunt guys, especially the stunt fighters, are pretty used to getting beat up. Most of them are pretty good martial artists themselves, and getting hit is another day at the office for them. I would have done those scenes with him! That would have been a blast! Awesome movie...

Yah, poor woman, but it's her husband's fault for allowing this to go on. She should have made a better choice for a husband, lol. That scene showed that he was willing to go any lengths (almost, I'm sure he was bluffing about killing her, but he had to make it appear that he wasn't) to get his daughter back. "Are you focused now?" was when he stabbed the pikes in the "good luck" guy's legs to electrocute him.
