  • the girl is amazing for her time wow

  • from 2:30 the xylophone sounds nice

  • @guinnesstrail you should show a little respect and try to hide your ignorance a little better!

  • @guinnesstrail Why is it there´s always someone that has something negative to say?... life has taught us that those that always has something to say, are the last people that can actually say something. What a dick!

  • I really like Russian style of ballet. It is so classical and the steps are so precise and exquisite .

  • a very strong rudy, but later, how many low level perf saw of him,but people was clapping,he was rudy

  • !!!!!

  • He danced this with Alla Sizova in the USSR. It was the first virtuoso pas he learned as a student. Beriosova mostly grew up in the US... she was a little kid when she moved there... I wish there were more video of her. :-(

  • I checked the website of the Nureyev Foundation. It seems he first danced this ballet as a student with Alla Sizova in 1957 in Leningrad, and later in London in 1963 (partner not mentioned). The 1963 production was choreographed by Chabukiani/Vaganova and revived by Nureyev. Further, it appears Beriosova never performed in Russia (see, Wikipedia). On another point, some of Nureyev's landings were off, see 1:41 and esp. 1:50. He must have been tired.

  • wikipedia is often inaccurate because ANYONE can change the information. It is a very unreliable source. I can't tell you how many mistakes I have found. I don't even bother to look at it anymore.

  • @DCFunBud nureyev never landed softly ,was one of many defects he had due his latestarting, but did so much...aniway in this period was very strong stil

  • What a treat to see Beriosova in her prime! Her expansive style, beautiful line and wonderful carriage are something to wonder at, even in this piece of Soviet trash.

  • What stupid a stupid ballet: theme, music, and choreography! No wonder Nureyev defected. The choreography was especially unfortunate for Beriosova -- all that pointless hopping. The young Nureyev was fantastic.

  • Fact Check: Svetlana Beriosova was not a Soviet ballerina. In fact, she was a ballerina with the Royal Ballet and logic would follow that Nureyev was with the Royal Ballet at the same time.

  • The piece is Soviet - not Beriosova, who was Lithuanian, dancing with the Royal Ballet.

  • Were is video of Makarova and Nureyev?

  • Bueno al final de cuentas Terpsícore entendió que en el Olimpo tendría que crearse un espacio para Rudolph

  • what a uperb post! thank you so so much for this wonderful contribution to youtube.

  • AMAZING!!!

Rudolph you always be in the heart of the ballet!!♥

  • This can't be beaten. Even Acosta (and he's an idol of mine) can't beat this. I was lucky enough to have seen them both live and she is so.....beautiful and exquisite. As for Nureyev - well, I'm speechless........................

  • My old ballet teacher used to dance with Beriosova ...apparently she suffered terribly with stage-fright. Who'd have thought it eh?!!

  • Svetlana was actually an old family friend, and although I never had the fortune to meet her, I am told she was extremely kind. I would also like to point out that this particular broadcast was rehearsed many times due to Nureyev's love of perfection, thus the both of them did not probably perform as well as they would have liked to, due to exhaustion. (This is from Nureyev's biography.) However, I think both of them are absolutely stunning and underappreciated. Thank you so much for posting!!!

  • Svetlana was very kind as well as incredibly generous despite many personal problems. I did have the opportunity to meet her as I am also related to her.

  • Nureyev was a great dancer, but his was so gay, even in the sixties it was pretty obvious.

  • But you gotta admit...what a body...I'm sure a lot of women were disappointed

  • Simply look at Richard Avedon's nude portrait of Nureyev...I would've been one of those women had I been alive then!

  • so what !?

  • clikear this or paste into the bar youtube: Carlos Acosta - Diana and Acteon

  • How wonderful to see Beriosova dance on film!! I remember her in the 60's as the truly great beauty that she was - the princess of a lineage of dancers. She looked wonderful. I also remember Nureyev from the onset of his defection. There was no male out there with the refinement of technique, sex appeal and stage charisma as he had. He literally could burn up a stage with his talent. And he knew how to take away the spotlight from his ballerina, too.

  • Amazing double asamble sircle!!! Respect :)

  • Nureyev danced in the 60s like Acosta dances now in 2008, it was unique to dance like that almost fifty years ago, tha's why he was so great. The first man to shine on stage more than the ballerina.

  • Did you know that he started his training when he was 17?

  • I wish we had more of Beriosova. What a great dancer. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for posting this! I´ve seen Beriosova´s beauty in photographs , this is the first time I can see her dancing, amazing technique! great ballerina...Give us more!

  • I love the way he stalks onstage like an athlete into the arena, and the intense concentrated energy in his body. More Nureyev clips!

  • thank you for this look at a very great ballerina. Unfortunately there is so little film on her.
