If you want to say that Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee were the best of the East Coast/Piedmont style of blues, I think you can get away with that. Yes , there are some other good ones but this duo is the first to pop into my mind when someone says "East Coast Blues."
You are right, I think of them as the best of the East Coast Bluesmen, but I had i mind, Blind Boy Fuller, whom Sonny played with before Fuller passed away. I also think of Blind Blake, Florida born, but went to Chicago as everybody else.
Oslagbara !
I've got a record with them doing this live in '60/61. Ray released I Got A Woman in, I think '54 (?). Cool reworking though. Got old gospel song I'll try and get round to posting soon. May just ring a few bells.
Thanks JT for comenting and listening. Now we are back in business. Two excellent East Coast Bluesmen and great performance. What more can you ask for ? Ya, I know a "flathead" on the hook.*smile*
Thanks Suze, so kind of you ! When I started to upload th Blues, I thought I was the ONly one to appreciate the sound, BUT now I know better. Thera are people "out there" who really have a good taste in Music.

Thanks for the comment and listening !
Rumors are common in the old Blues and "stealing and cheating", so it doesn't surprise me if Brownie passed songs to Mr Ray Charles.
Perhaps, someone knows ?
But, who cares, as long as it is good Music !
Peace Brother !
