This guy was able to stay on TV so long because he's one of the few foreigners that speaks Japanese like a Japanese at that time, but the problem is that like the other guys on that level (Daniel Kahl and Dave Spector), they weren't very interesting people. And Patrick Harlan was just a boring white guy skating on a Harvard degree.
Thane got himself done when he had that court battle with his talent agency. It's instadeath in the Japanese celebrity world to bite the hand that feeds you....even if that hand is hardly feeding you.
Some crap started over this homophobic guy being homophobic over combat sports fighter Yuichiro Nagashima. A bunch of people flamed him and he responded with more homophobia. Including saying something against kireikoori for calling him homophobic trash.

Or are you talking about the thing between MariyaDisorder and Celedam. Apparently MariyaDisorder doesn't agree with the statement that Kago is all washed up and nobody in Japan cares about her anymore. Celedam keeps acting like she's through. That's bull. She's already featuring in a major Japanese picture and putting out music again. At this rate she may become more popular than before.
FRIDAY is a Japanese tabloid magazine that's infamous for catching celebrities in scandalous situations. It was responsible for Mari Yaguchi's resignation in 2005, Ai Kago's suspension in 2006, and Miki Fujimoto's resignation in 2007.
So, among H!P fans, the term "Friday'd" is slang for a member getting caught by FRIDAY magazine and consequently forced to disappear for a while.
Am I the only one who thinks it's retarded for a magazine to be accountable for ruining their careers? The fact that H!P actually reads them and fires, or suspends people for it is stupid.
Japanese idols do not live by the same rules as you or me. If an idol's image is even slightly tarnished, her marketability is ruined and all of the agency's investment in her is lost.
Some people do, but they're a fraction what they were during the peak of her popularity. She's now seen as "broken," and although she's working hard to rehabilitate herself, it will never be the same.
Really? I've been under the impression that quite a bit of people love her. Her blog ranked 1 for being the most read blog in Japan - I don't know if it's still ranking that high. She was also top 5 on a poll for favourite H!P member (past and current) a while back, if I remember correctly. I think someone wrote about it over in H-O. Plus - I've seen nothing but 'Imiss Aibon - Come back!' I don't know about the majority of JP fans but almost all of the foreign fans and some JP fans felt that way
She was a novelty for a while, and the Japanese love novelty. A former child star returned from scandal and announced that she'd attempted suicide -- not only did people feel sorry for her personally, they also hoped for some dirt on the notorious idol industry.
But Aibon seems okay now, and she had no dirt to dish about the industry since her problems mostly involved her family and her own poor judgement, so the general public is quickly losing interest in her.
You go around saying things like "I'm a journalist" or some shit like it's important and gives you all this credentials when writing about fucking JPOP on the internet. And you always try to make these thinly veiled snide remarks about your own opinions in a way to make them seem objective and matter. However, you're not fooling most people. Most people, realize, that you're not some beacon of knowledge, but just some elitist, pretentious prick who takes Jpop too seriously.

What did you really expect me to say? You're not making a serious argument here; you're simply bitching for the sake of bitching. I get it, you hate know-it-alls, but that's just too damn bad because when it comes to H!P, I really do know it all.
Come back when you have a substantive responsive to what I said about Aibon.

Because no hesitAtIon and kuroi shoujo don't count for anything. Right. It's not big deal to play a part in one of the grudge movies. Aibon is really just washed up, I'm sure. Makes perfect sense.
Thane seems like a great guy to hang out with. (Thought I'd prefer the girls ;-) )

Before the magazine "Friday" caught Kago Ai smoking underaged. She was then suspended by H!P for a little bit.
Correct me if I'm wrong ^_^
