  • why are speeds over dimond crossings either fast or slow, like the TP&W crossing on UP joliet Sub at X102 is good for 80mph, but why are the Chicago Junctions good for only 10 to 15 mph?

  • Actually this was called Belt crossing. There was a tower. There was a tower here until the mid-90's

    I visited there back then. That other railroad in the area was an IC subsidiary called the Chicago and Illinois Western. that line ran out to Mc Cook IL. They had a yard ot the east of the crossing. In later time the CC&P ran over the freeport line. Then I bought it back later on.
