why are speeds over dimond crossings either fast or slow, like the TP&W crossing on UP joliet Sub at X102 is good for 80mph, but why are the Chicago Junctions good for only 10 to 15 mph?
Actually this was called Belt crossing. There was a tower. There was a tower here until the mid-90's
I visited there back then. That other railroad in the area was an IC subsidiary called the Chicago and Illinois Western. that line ran out to Mc Cook IL. They had a yard ot the east of the crossing. In later time the CC&P ran over the freeport line. Then I bought it back later on.
