I find it ironic that both artists in this recording Erich Leinsdorf and George London were Jewish, and Wagner was such a rabid anti-Semite.

To me, this is one of the most moving scenes in all of Wagner's operas. This is my first time hearing George London sing Wagner. Sublime!

London's voice in its prime superbly balanced sheer power and tonal beauty, and he was such a sensitive singer, so attuned to every emotion he was conveying:) --

London and Leinsdorf's portrayal spoils the experience of hearing other recorded versions; the vocal texture and delivery at turns match then batter against the churning orchestration. This is sublime.
