  • I find it ironic that both artists in this recording Erich Leinsdorf and George London were Jewish, and Wagner was such a rabid anti-Semite.

  • To me, this is one of the most moving scenes in all of Wagner's operas. This is my first time hearing George London sing Wagner. Sublime!

  • London's voice in its prime superbly balanced sheer power and tonal beauty, and he was such a sensitive singer, so attuned to every emotion he was conveying:) --

  • London and Leinsdorf's portrayal spoils the experience of hearing other recorded versions; the vocal texture and delivery at turns match then batter against the churning orchestration. This is sublime.
