Nice to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words. I've been browsing the videos you have up on YouTube as well - very nice tunes! I'm especially intrigued by your original tune "Mosquito Rag" - aptly named! ;-)
btw, I'll be heading back to SW Florida in a couple of weeks. January is a great time of year to escape the midwest, do a little dulcimer playing/teaching, and hang out on the beach!
Thanks for your comments. I'd not thought about the similarity to "How Great Thou Art", but you're right, it does seem to have a similar section in the chorus that "soars". I think one of the keys to playing this tune is the use of slides, and also some "vibrato" - makes it sound more "slack-keyish", or perhaps "ukule-ish". It's fun to listen to all the other versions of this tune you can find on YouTube!
Thanks, Hunter. I just discovered your youTube site as well - VERY nice playing! I'm especially impressed with your version of "Winter Wonderland" - not an easy tune to fit into the diatonic fretboard, and you've done a great job with that. Hope to see you (and Trish and Greg) again at some festival or other soon.
In a list of the World's best tunes, this would high.
