you can't pratice boxing and thai boxing it's a horrible mix.. you bob and weave against a thai fighter you'll just walk into a headkick and knock yourself out faster.
muay thai fighters are great. ive boxed 25 fights an now since training in fairtex ive come to love this devastating sport but there boxings crap the pace a boxer will press with fast powerfull hands thai fighters are open with the high gaurd the dont like
thats true, but the high guard is to guard against elbows. If they train for a boxing fight theyl ajust their gaurd and stance and maybe come a bit quicker cos the kicks are what fatigues the most. if a boxer trains for muay thai he probaby raise his guard a bit for the elbow defense, and slow down a bit cos he might have to throw kicks
Why do you think Thai fighters never look/or get tired (for the most part, of course theres always exceptions). Because they fight in a non frenzied/relaxed manner. Their power comes from sudden explosive attacks if you notice. What they do is move slow and relaxed and suddenly they explode, so to speak, in their attack.
@Vigid Yes, thats very very true. but also because, Thai boxer don't do training camps like wester MMA fighters, that chill for most of the time and do hard core training 2 months before the fight. A Thai boxer is ALWAYS in top shape, Hes ready to fight anytime, anywhere. A real, true martial artists.
if they tried to spar with precise boxing technique then they would not be so relaxed and would not have the chance to get in. it's a different kind of sparring that the two of them are engaged in. i believe they are not emphasizing on boxing technique here, but rather on how to 'go in' and be relaxed.
Notice that they are leaving their hands down and eating punches purposely at times. The goal of this sparring is to be completely relaxed, and bite down hard on the mouthpiece when being hit while in the pocket. American boxers slip and move to avoid being hit. But they have glass jaws when hit. Thai boxers know they will be hit at times, and practice taking them in training. Watch Naruepol's fights and you'll notice he keeps his hands high. This is a drill. Kostya tszyu has a like style.
Watch Naerupol's jaw. He's biting down and releasing to time the impact of the punch. It almost looks like he's chewing at times. Mexican boxers do the same thing. When the muscles of the jaw are flexed, they decrease chances of KO. Its a drill. Watch yodsaenklai's punch knockouts in slow mo. He bites down when countering in the pocket.
I always find it funny when youtube experts critique sparring videos. Sparring is just that - practice. I see the above responses to Strafer and can't help but pointing out: "who knows?" Maybe they are just messing around. Maybe they are practicing being relaxed, Maybe this and maybe that. People spar for many reasons, it's really pointless to critique sparring videos. Fights - yes, critique those. Sparring videos, no.
i love muay thai and trained in fairtex an used to stand an watch nurepol. but they look bad ther. i dont rate ther hands at all but with kicks an elbows they probelly dont need 2 punch 2 gud ha

In Thailand, fighters will often have nicknames as their first name and the gym's name that they train at as their last name.

@Vigid Yeah they hold a rhythm in the stance so it is easy to get sucked into that rhythm unconsciously...while that head kick is on the way....

Looking at his technique he would get ko'd by a fighter with a good boxing background with evasive movement.
Great muay thai fighter but where's the boxing technique

i dont think so the only thing that the thai fighter has to do is keep his distance and kick the boxers legs out.
